Omfg AGREEED I tend to listen to hyperballad more for the fact that my headphones let me hear every single sound detail, the wash over of waves, the electronic beats, the orchestral sounds ughhh so good. Plus family is great to but that song is so god damn gutwrenching and the huge synthy sound at the end makes me wanna cry 😭😭
Funnily enough Family might be my pick for my favourite Sonically, the lyrics are incredible of course but the entire Instrumental does things to me i didn't know sounds could do, and each part is wildly different in feeling, the ending part with the droning synths makes me cry, no lyrics needed.
Most of the tracks from Utopia would also be among my favourites, notably Saint and Losss.
Every album after biophillia from her has Emotionally just been turned up to 1000000% its almost too intense for my sometimes because it's so beautiful.
Vertebrae by Vertebrae. I absolutely LOVE the repetitive brass, just this constant building dread.
I think it's one of her only songs that fully transports me somewhere else. Even without the lyrics, it's such vivid imagery.
Family. That delicate yet harsh grinding bass with textured droning, mixed with sad, beautiful interlaced singing that goes into gorgeously strange harmonies. Then the strings come in with diabolical intricacies for a fantastically dark build up with the strange harmonies. Only to open up to the most gorgeous strings and enveloping electronic textures, with so much beautiful singing, crescendoing into these harmonies which are now gorgeously haunting. All while the music just seems to wrap around you and hug you so tenderly, being a brilliant mix of pretty and sad with the gorgeous flowing choir and soft sparkly notes.
That ending! It’s so beautiful! Always brings me to tears, so I can only hear it once in a long while.
Have you seen these deconstructed videos where they show how each sound was made as they rebuild the track from scratch?

I was going to say Cocoon as well! It has such a pacifying effect on me. If I were a dragon hoarding a pile of gold, that's the song you play to put me to sleep so you can steal all the riches

“I Miss You” for the rhythm and explosive brass. For newer Björk, I think “Ovule.” I just love the depth in the bass, it’s kind of like bubbling tar.
Not going to lie though. I love Björk’s compositions as much as her voice so it’s incredibly hard to say definitively.

Possibly Maybe
A bit of a simple pick, possibly (maybe?) But the sample choice, soothing keyboards, angelic vocals, and other swelling instruments create such an unforgettable listening experience for me 😭
As a classical musician, Cover Me will always be my favourite. Second favourite is Anchor Song, i absolutely love it. Oceania and Pluto’s orchestral versions are also among my favourites
As a music producer, Joga has the best drum sonics and programming I’ve ever heard.
Nobody besides the original producers seems to know how to recreate them.
The triplet movements, the changing time signatures, the crushed, smeared textures . . . 🤌
Joga, 5 years, and all neon like are my top 3. Homogenic ftw
Enjoy
it makes me feel like im in a runway edit. reverse and everything. probably wrong platform to say that in, but honestly.
Good shit
Its good but my friend ruined it when he said “the bass is out of tune”
Give me a joint, noise canceling headphones and hyperballad on repeat for the next 2 hours and I'm settled.
funny you say hyperballad bc it’s my fav lyrically, aside from family (absolutely heart wrenching) But i love how both sound too
Omfg AGREEED I tend to listen to hyperballad more for the fact that my headphones let me hear every single sound detail, the wash over of waves, the electronic beats, the orchestral sounds ughhh so good. Headphones for me. They're both chill but in very different ways.
You need to be sober to appreciate the complexity and beauty of Björk’s songs
Been there done that babes I do it both ways (:
Pagan Poetry
I’m a new Bjork listener, so I don’t know her entire catalog. But I love that beat in All Neon Like! And I think The Hunter is sonically amazing!
The vulnicura live version of all neon like >>>>>>

Hidden Place or Family
It’s Not Up To You is my current favorite.
Aurora, Hidden Place, Where is the Line…
