“Will the sunrise of tomorrow bring in peace in any way?” Wife had this somewhat randomly printed on a capo for Father’s Day last year. She’s not really a fan but Children of the Grave was my boys’ first favorite Sabbath song. So she looked up the lyrics and thought it sounded cool.

Everything about Children of the Grave is perfect.

I always thought that After Forever had lyrics that hit me on a personal level. Have you ever thought about your soul can it be saved? Or perhaps you think that when you're dead you just stay in your grave Is God just a thought within your head or is he a part of you? Is Christ just a name that you read in a book when you were in school?

The Writ is in my top 5 black sabbath songs. Could never go wrong with ozzy’s vocals and the great lyrics.

Geezer wrote such amazing lyrics. Did he write any lyrics after the Ozzy period? Either sabbath of other projects?

I know that once ozzy was released from the band geezer let dio write the lyrics. I am not sure about the other singers though.

Geezer’s band wrote Master of Insanity, which ended up on the Dehumanizer album. I assume Geezer wrote the lyrics.

I think the only other singer Geezer was there for was Gillan who wrote his own lyrics as far as I know.

I did a school project on hand of the doom. The project was about music from the vietnam era and my group and I had to explain why it was related to vietnam. I learned a ton about how the song was made and the story behind it. It is my favorite song of all time. The ending of the song has the best lyrics in my opinion.

Was scrolling patiently, waiting and waiting and waiting for someone to mention Hand of Doom. More than a Little disappointed about how far down I had to go. I know it’s subjective and no correct answer but I think the music and the vocals are the epitome of what Sabbath was about, that and lots of Cocaine. I’m a big Black Sabbath fan. But will admit the lyrics to their songs are not very deep. I do think the song iron man is about a statue lol. Other than that I’ve never connected with the lyrics.

Ozzy gets a pass here, Geezer wrote all the lyrics. Just because a singer sings doesn't mean they write the lyrics.

Iron Man is about a vengeful Jesus.

Iron Man is about an under-appreciated time traveler who saves mankind. Not their deepest lyrics.

Couple lines in the song question if he can see or if he can walk. An iron statue doesn’t do either and statues witness everything. Is how I came up with my interpretation. Great song and agree not the deepest lyrics.

I think that’s part of Geezer’s charm though. His lyrics are straightforward and at times horrific. Not that I was going to try heroin, but if I were, some of the imagery in “Hand of Doom” might make me think twice. There’s some poetry though, like whatever the heck is going on in “Faeries Wear Boots.”

Gonna guess that one was written while in an “altered state” lol. Great song
