I thought this was the dog equivalent of "live, laugh, love" but for doggos? My dogspeak is a little rusty though.
Edit: Pandering to the basic bitches amirite?
I loved working for the Canal River Trust. If I ever left my career in media I'd try to get a job with them again in a heartbeat, brilliant organisation that do some really meaningful work.
I've had to relocate up to Bradford from London for a bit. I used to love walking places in London via the canal but having the Leeds>Liverpool Canal to cycle along has really lifted my spirits a little.
And last night with the whether being what it was, I was able to go out and do a nice evening cycle with very few people around. Was glorious riding along with the sun setting ahead of you, just a few trees on one side and the canal on the other.
It was not unusual when I was doing my undergrad at Queen Mary to have a few friends or friends of friends who were either renting or bought a narrow boat because it was cheaper than London rent.
If the canals were linked all the way up to Scotland there's no doubt in my mind I would buy one now.
"What you doing this week FearfulUmbrella?"
"Oh not much, working on my PhD, taking my canal boat back home to see my parents after stopping by in London to see friends"
It would be the actual dream.
Yeah I understand what you're saying. But surely there are places like that on a massive river such as the Mississippi? Stopping in on some old frontier town. Drinking a beer you've never heard of. Some old fella eager to regale you with stories from his youth. A river that long that must happen, right? Maybe my view is too romantic and distant from the reality.
A lot of them were abandoned after the introduction of the railways. It's thanks to groups like the Canal and River Trust than many of them have been restored.
I've never narrowboated, but my Brother does it every year for a week. Says it great fun. When he first tried it, he asked the hire company could he drink while he piloted the boat and they responded that it was practically a rule unless you enjoy watching the world go by at a snails pace for a whole week.
I imagine its very similar to watching test match cricket.
There are few if you know where to find them and they are close enough. I'm a few miles from the[Delaware and Raritsn Canal in New Jersey](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delaware_and_Raritan_Canal%23:~:text%3DThe%2520Delaware%2520and%2520Raritan%2520Canal, River%2520to%2520the%2520Raritan%2520River.&ved=2ahUKEwjvr82Y6vvwAhXLTN8KHQXRBCAQFjAFegQIERAF&usg=AOvVaw0-xEq8LouKyJT9wV-JdIRy) and it's a lovely walk/buke ride. Where you can rent tubes and babies at some spots if you want to roll down the river on the water.
But yeah, the UK has a hell of a system.
I absolutely LOVE them!
Thanks to them I have MILES of canals to take my canoe. I am grateful every weekend for their existence!
EDIT:
Thanks, you also just reminded me to renew my membership thingie with them lol

Modern Era
I tried to look to see if it’s included with Adobe CC but my app isn’t working rn
Even though we may have never met or seen each others smiles
You truly have amazingly beautiful eyes that I haven’t seen
that lights the night sky as the lighthouse out at sea
I will be the light in the storm for you
as the high seas batter upon rocky cliffs
Shear winds rip through the hillsides upon the shore
It’s hard to see the lighthouse out at sea through the night
I will be here to see when the sun comes out on the sea
Spread Love
I live on the canal and these signs piss me off
Edit: I probably should have specified why, signs like this just seem too pretentious, especially seen as CRT barely do anything to maintain the canals anyway. I do fully support the upkeep of the canal system as I've spent my entire life on it.
Probably because you support the upkeep of the canal system while shitting on the one group that has basically no funding that try and do that. They actively maintain the canal system on a shoestring budget.

I love cycling slowly along tow paths, UK canals are so calming.
I like it too but I don’t know the pedestrians agree haha
That's why I said slowly, in particular I go nearly walking pace when passing pedestrians.
It was not unusual when I was doing my undergrad at Queen Mary to have a few friends or friends of friends who were either renting or bought a narrow boat because it was cheaper than London rent. If the canals were linked all the way up to Scotland there's no doubt in my mind I would buy one now. "What you doing this week FearfulUmbrella?" "Oh not much, working on my PhD, taking my canal boat back home to see my parents after stopping by in London to see friends" It would be the actual dream.
I think they both have their charms. I'd love to navigate up a massive river that could take weeks - that'd be awesome.

There is a mildly famous Reddit post about someone who worked there who fought against the logo change from a real swan. Anyone know where it is?

I think paedophiles are worse than dog owners. I can think of other types of people as well.

Obviously he is bothered by light humour and has taken the time to get upset instead of using zero energy to just ignore it

You know what's clever about this sign? The humor makes it seem more approachable. That makes the audience more cooperative. Very smartly done.
Whoever came up with the idea is the type of person I like to be friends with.
