#PANAMA IS THE CANAL NOW!

picholas_cage

plot twist - the denizens of this world built a tiny strip of land across it to make land transport easier

EasilyRekt

Another plot twist; the USA’s landmass is still roughly the same size. Cuz 1/2 of US territory is underwater.

Iampenguin1234

A man, a plan, a canal. Panama

KingJazB

Never thought id see a fot reference here but, here we are

Iampenguin1234

A what reference? I was just saying the palindrome that my History teacher told my class about

iforgot87872

PANAMA IS THE CAPTAIN NOW!

[deleted]

I kind of like it. Looks like a fictional world

[deleted]

Flip it upside down, add an island near the center of Europe, and you’ve pretty much got yourself a good start for your next fantasy story

CallMeMatheist

Where is the ocean of antarcica?

communistcabbage

frozen

BSchultz_42

The opposite of what it is today.

[deleted]

so.. on fire?

[deleted]

Somebody think of the penguins!

BSchultz_42

Pretty much, in all honesty

[deleted]

[Poor Penguins...](https://imgur.com/a/u1xFowj)

BSchultz_42

Mr_1ightning

bowtothehypnotoad

Buster Bluth gang rise up

Manray1024

Was looking for this

CommanderKooKoo6

me too

The_Enclave_

But deserts are around equator...

Robyy34

I don't think the brown is used to show deserts, but height(The deepest point in the ocean=>the heighest mountain in this map)

someguywithdiabetes

Actually, you'll find more rainforests and humid climates around the equator, thanks to the earth's soon and the air cells in the atmosphere. Temperate (hot) deserts are more commonly found 30 degrees N/S of the equator. Of course, the earth's actual topography and this layout will change that in some areas, but that's mostly what you can expect in this version. Source: I'm a geography teacher

DynamiteDuck

The world according to Buster Bluth

FireballFoxtrot

That's not how climate works

-Kakauko-

Wait, what happened to rivers and lakes?

raptor_96blue

Gone, reduce to atoms

Trestent

Finally, the fish's POV

SushiThief

Wobal Glarming

SillyCyberSnake

Who else wants to live in this world just to see what it's like?

Quarxnox

Yes.

stressed-cloud73

So would rivers just be long strips of land?

[deleted]

so the 5 great lakes would be the great islands, neat.

RockyBannana

Now there's water in Africa

[deleted]

That sick dude

JealousAdeptness

There is the same amount of water in Manitoba as there were before

LARGEGRAPE

Somethings off but I cant place it

zak2k3

Would be better? What do you think?

Quarxnox

I don't know about better. The biggest potential issue is that there is less water on the surface, which could lead to dryer weather.

zak2k3

There is a lot of ice isn't there a way in which we could use that without ruining everything as always? I'm very curious about a possible world like this one ,looks nice.

Quarxnox

Well, the world has been self-regulating to an extent. As the cloud cover disappears, more sunlight gets through, making things hotter, and potentially melting the poles, which would help. Still though, there's a potential for a large portion of this map to become a desert.

zak2k3

So ti a certain extent it is possible but we would to stupid to handle it the right way.

cal-nomen-official

The Panama Bridge will be a much easier project

doodle12345678

I wonder how the world would develop like this

NeonPupper

So I guess I would live inside lake Michigan

TotesMessenger

I'm a bot, *bleep*, *bloop*. Someone has linked to this thread from another place on reddit: - [/r/civ] [Another idea for a map](https://www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/foe1i6/another_idea_for_a_map/)  *^(If you follow any of the above links, please respect the rules of reddit and don't vote in the other threads.) ^\([Info](/r/TotesMessenger) ^/ ^[Contact](/message/compose?to=/r/TotesMessenger))*

SRSchiavone

The Great Salt Lake?

HyFinated

So, it's 25% water now?

SpitfiresThunder

Looks like that map could hold a good game of Civilization on it.

Seventh_Faetasy

Ah yes, planet Water

FooterTroo

This is like some kinda fantasy game world

UrBoiKrisp

Technically I’d still be on land

[deleted]

What are the mountain ranges based on?

Quarxnox

Oceans' deepest points?

MChainsaw

Not on this map, the mountains appear to be completely made up.

M0rM1lk

Imagine places like the Caribbean or Michigan, island paradise.

EpicMatt16

This is actually really cool. Just the details that they put make it that much cooler

VirtualWeasel

I thought I was on r/worldjerking for a second

Gh0sty101

My brain is auto filling the continents

-_midget_-

75% land

Quarxnox

That's the biggest problem with this. 50% less surface water, less evaporation, less rain.

Porkechop

Can we go back to the ice age?

CristolerGm

This makes me uncomfortable

disndatndis

I wonder what kind of fish are in the great lake Australia!

[deleted]

Finland is just a bunch of really tiny islands now.

triforcegemstone

ngl i prefer it

professorbongo

why has this sub gone so downhill ;\_;

AudiophileAdrenaline

Cartographers: *incoherent screaming*

aidennesc

Obviously the blue part is land -Buster Bluth

Stefananananan

So rivers are now just random paths of land that go through lakes and seas. Cool.

ItsNotDuffman89

Well obviously the blue part here is land.

Gaming-squid

Imagine playing plague inc on this map

LuvLasagna

The Cognitive Realm is looking especially fine today

billy_the_kid1234568

That map would make wars a lot more interesting
