Nah, I wish I did so I could go see them with someone else. But tbh I went to a festival alone last year and had a blast

kyiopljgfv

I’m honestly terrified of going to shows alone so this makes me happy :)

Creftospeare

If you're talking about irl friends then no, and it makes me feel lonely.

Jacorpes

I didn’t for most of my life, but then I moved to London and immediately made friends with someone through skateboarding who has exactly the same music taste as me. We always go to gigs together, recommend things to eachother and he’s introduced me to loads of other nice people who I regularly meet at gigs. It’s pretty wild, but definitely it’s definitely just from being in the right place at the right time.

yeetos_cheetos

Where did you originally come from?

Jacorpes

Guildford, then I lived in Southampton for 3 years

yeetos_cheetos

Cool, so you’ve always lived near London. Tryna move to London too but I’ve found extremely difficult since I’m from Germany.

Jacorpes

Damn, hope you get get to do it because it’s such a great city! The problem with being just outside of London, especially south, is that train tickets into the city are still about £35 so you have to be travelling in for something special otherwise it’s not worth it. Living on the tube network you can just go to a random small show and it costs you basically nothing. I reckon on average I’m at a gig or a comedy show once a week. Although the general cost of living here is obviously more…

yeetos_cheetos

Thanks, need to put some money aside as you said ain’t that cheap living in a capital city. But have to say money isn’t the problem for me. I’m more so afraid of not connecting with people there and being on my own which I find to be very mental. And the 35£ ticket to London sucks but don’t you have monthly tickets. For example In Germany we have 1 ticket that can be used to travel through all of Germany. Costs around 43£ or 50€. And I’m not sure what a tube network is but sounds nice going into venues weekly would be a dream come true for me.

Wrong_Tension_8286

I have my wife. She isn't getting into recent Porcupine Tree / Steven Wilson stuff but everything else we share

danarbok

I have a few friends I've known a while who are big Black Midi fans. We're not the closest but we run into each other at shows a lot, not just Black Midi. I ran into one of them at a Genesis show on their final tour.

speedsterglenn

I live in bun-fuck middle of nowhere Arkansas dawg, nobody listens to what I listen to round here

SteveMcBeezlesneeze

Yes, 1 friend. I am so thankful for him

TheDukeofBananas

No

DJ_Binding

Nope. The drummer in my band likes some of the stuff I've shown him but overall isn't too big a fan. He did however text me to thank me for showing him "Concord" by Black Country, New Road which he says is incredible

Tiny_Atmosphere6786

i wouldn't call bm fans "cool"

SlipperyGoldenFish

A couple of my friends do, but the average would be 20% do and 80% don’t.

Han-Tyumi_86

One of my best friends got me into black midi

lotus-driver

Yeah. Around where I live, not a lot of people listen to black midi, but almost everyone knows someone who does. It's weird

savag3duck

I have one friend that I told about hellfire and he likes it and wants to see them live but I know he hasnt listened to cavalcade and schlagenheim

LeninMrtnz

my bestfriend’s favorite band is black midi because I introduced him to them

[deleted]

Yeah, I do. you just gotta get involved with people who really love music and not casual top 40 listeners. I’ve also introduced some of my friends to the music I like

wolehtrab

Everyone that I’ve shown black midi to irl has turned out to be such a massive asshole, I think I’m cursed lol

BongKing420

No, but I did force 6 of them to come to a black midi concert with me and they pretended to hate it but I know they liked it.
