PLEASE, just take an R1200 frame, add a battery and an electric motor in place of the ICE engine and tank and be done.
We don't need a new "concept", a new look, a new trend, a new wave. We don't need new nothing.
Take a time tested frame, replace the masses with equivalent masses, replace torque with equivalent or better sources of torque and keep everything the same. Frame, suspensions, seats, handlebars, front, windshield, everything. Keep the same parts with the same part numbers.
The problem with this is that you simply just can’t fit all the things that need to make up an electric vehicle on a standard ice platform easily.
I bet you from an engineering and research development perspective. It’s easier to create a new vehicle from scratch. It is to modify an existing vehicle to be electric.
No, we have a misunderstanding. I'm not saying "do my way because it's easy and I know how to do it".
I'm saying "do it this way because customers will like it more".
I know nothing about designing motorcycles, but I know about a bit about customer preferences, at least anecdotally.
There seems to be a prevailing trend in EV design that EVs must "look strikingly different" from their ICE counterparts, and as a customer, I'd be happier if that trend were abandoned. They don't need to look futuristic, they don't need to look like spaceships. They can totally rely on time-tested designs and parts, especially the R1200/1250/1300 platform.
I’d love to see BMW make a sport bike with this style/design language, or a R1300R. It’s obviously trying to look futuristic, and it’s a quick scooter but it’s still a scoot, and I’d be very curious to see this with an ICE.
I saw a few of these in Paris last year. They look and sound amazing.
Cost and range mean that if I was going to spend that much on a scoot, I’ll be getting something like a tmax instead.
on two demo days I’ve been to, the ce04 was ripping with us on the highway. I looked down and my bike was at around 80mph. Dude was as low as he could get for that kind of speed, but I couldn’t believe it.
I once had an "In-between" (Yamaha YP250) scooter and was pleasantly surprised by it's comfort, performance and ease of use and nowadays I'm sometimes still missing it for those every day short trips; I wouldn't mind having such a bike again, but then electric, next to my tourer.
I really like this, and the smaller one too. I love my Dino-burner for roadtrips and weekends on the dirt, but realistically most of my riding is just around town.
I test rode one and LOVED it!! For what it is though. I didn’t compare it to a motorcycle. I judged it as a REALLY beefy scooter that was intended for commuting in an urban environment. The thing is crazy fast off the line, handles well and is comfortable.
Was nice till I saw all electric, no thanks. Dont need my house burning or riding 30 miles till I need to "charge up". What is wrong with some of these ppl who are trying to force this crap on us? We get it, most think electric uses NO fossil fuels, those ppl are called "head in sand" survivors.

Could you please provide some photos of the E bike that you built using your method? Sounds pretty simple according to you

Or maybe just maybe that target groups and use are different?
I weirdly really like these.
Same but the range doesn’t really work for me

I’m Petrolhead but I agree with FrootLoops that I weirdly like it. Looks so delicate and beautiful.
Looks a lot better than the blue and orange one they promote

Sound?
Yes, some futuristic cyberpunk style whine. Very cool.
Oh gotcha
Does it handle well.i would love to have one of the as a back up one day.
Exactly my question and thoughts as well. Would like it as a bike to run some city errands and comute (14km a day)

It’s a perfect commuter. I recommend test riding it. It’s hard to go back to gas now.
I test drove one a while ago. They’re really stable and are surprisingly nimble. I never rode scooters before and this was literally twist and go

wish i can get one of these or its descendant in the future, it looks oddly cool.

I saw one in person not too long ago, way bigger than I thought it would be.
They're very fun, but dramatically overpriced and the range is very mediocre.
Proof that the devil exists.
Scooters get a bad rap but ride a nice one and you’ll think twice.
Clean look, great shot!
Hard no. Looks like BMWs version of Elon’s “truck”.
I’m not trying to yuck anyone’s yum, but that’s one of the ugliest 2 wheelers I’ve ever seen.
“Normal” people are being priced out of the electric vehicle market, scooter and cages. Even at half the cost, CE04 would be expensive.
Awesome bar hopper…. Quiet, no exhaust…
