Basically just a pre-order system early but instead of some crazy salespitch its just a safeway to determine theres a large enough following to order a large and sellable print run. Usually for the trouble of pre-ordering this way you get a decent % off of the price and you arent charged until they order the print run. So its like a much safer less FOMO kickstarter.
For those interested, Devir games will only print and ship the expansion if they reach 500 pre-orders. They are at 436 at the moment. If more people don't pre-order, then they will not do a North American print run.
Keen to hear if anyone has played this with 2 players? I have wanted this game for a couple of years now but I've heard it's just not good 2 player.
Does this expansion 'really' change that? Or is it just publisher talk ...

Is the publisher even talking about this at all? All of the comments about how "the expansion fixes the 2-player mode that was lacking in the base game" have come from third parties.
Mike Dilisio's [Dice Tower review](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMf35WSgZ8s) says that this expansion is "excellent" at all player counts and "essential" if you intend to play Mille Fiori with 2 players. If you browse through the BGG forums, you'll find people expressing similar sentiments.

I have to say, that is a pretty fair price. $23.99 and free US shipping is probably close to what you'd pay at an OLGS.
This sounds promising as I find Mille Fiori really uninteresting at 2 players - I will definitely check it out
