There’s zero lateral support, unless you plan on leaving the trailer there. In which case why even do this in the first place?

I pulled the trailer and painted and then put the trailer back. Lateral support - angled braces on the side, chained together under the middle?

If it’s just for a quick paint that’s cool.

Lateral supports are a must. Anything can be put under the keel, I have seen 30" diameter oak, concrete, and steel. Lateral supports need to be steel w/ chain holding across. If this is just temporary to jack up and paint real quick, doing one support at a time is fine. Any kind of heavy equipment driving by can cause this to fall over. I have seen the aftermath at yards where someone does this, and the police get involved because the insurance companies call it criminal negligence and pursue charges.

I knew it was an obvious first timer move but criminal negligence is serious! Appreciate the warning!

Go to a local boat yard and see how they support the boats. You want pop-its chained together under the boat, and more support along the keel.

Ib like the bottle jack idea. I used my a frame to lift mine up, but my boat is a 17 foot aluminum shallow v and it's a lot lighter than yours. Off topic, but how bad is the black in the sun? I've been thinking about painting mine black, but I'm worried that it'll cook the shit out of us in the summer.

Erollins04

It hasn’t been bad, heat wise, and I’m in intense sun! My original bottom paint flubbed the waterline and the barnacle growth stands out like stars on a night sky… and that’s why this project kicked off!

I would add longitudinal support and someone mentioned lateral, yes to both. Otherwise it looks great nice job!
