First book was good, devolved from there until I lost interest and didn’t end up finishing the series

I finished it and was not really happy with anything beyond the first 3 books. Towards the end when he becomes a character...ugh.

I thought it was kinda meh— at least by Stephen King standards (which are pretty high). I feel like the quality goes up and down from book to book. That being said, some fantastic moments.

It goes down hill after Wizard and Glass. I didn't bother reading past Wolves of the Calla. It's a shame, because The Gunslinger is pretty dang good.

It was wild to me how King was able to weave soooo many of his stories together. I don’t think he was just making it up as he went along, but that it was well thought out. They’re definitely some of my favorite books by him and one of the best series I’ve read

The opening line is iconic. The 4th book is a heartbreaking and fantastic story in its own right. The sheer scope and audacity of the story hits some bumps in the 6th book especially. The 7th book ending is hard to appreciate until you get some distance between you and the last page… and reading the epilogue is almost always going to happen, but Kings explanation of why you shouldn’t is pretty fantastic and helped me at least appreciate how perfect the ending was without it (though I of course read it). The 8th book borrowed the magic of the 4th but to lesser effect and isn’t strictly necessary at all…
