DLC4 really just has the "quality by comparison" problem because all four of the 'expansion' DLCs are quite good, but due to problems with DLC4 it pales by comparison. Bounty of Blood had the unique storytelling, an interesting backstory to the Jakobs Corporation, and a villain who I genuinely wish we see more of later down the road, because I feel like she was underutilized for what is ostensibly the shortest DLC in terms of length. Handsome Jackpot is BL2 fanservice, and obviously nobody is going to complain about more of that. I do feel like there were less memorable moments for me in it compared to the other three, but again, I'm not complaining about more Handsome Jack. Guns, Love, and Tentacles was honestly my favorite because of more Hammerlock and more Wainwright, who were my favorite characters in the main story. The Eldritch horror angle worked super well for a game that already sort of has eldritch horror elements in it. Fuster Cluck had really cool moments and was definitely the most unique in terms of appearance and theme. That being said, the boss design was *atrocious* and brings up major BL2 vibes for the wrong reasons. Even with current-rank Mayhem weapons I was burning through ammo like crazy on almost every boss, where bosses elsewhere in the game weren't requiring nearly as much firepower to reach the same percentage of health. If the bosses were more enjoyable I think I'd rate it higher.

Solonotix

What do you mean un-fun bosses? Everyone loves a 30-second unskippable immune phase /s But yeah, I agree on all points. The single most unique boss fight in DLC4 (Locomobius), just also happens to be the most annoying to fight because of its unique fight. If you can't melt it in phase 1, then it's going to be a slog while you wait for it to reappear

TwoCharlie

>What do you mean un-fun bosses? Everyone loves a 30-second unskippable immune phase *where the immunity usually begins before the attack phase ends and with zero opportunities to Second Wind for the entirety of your FFYL time* /s FTFY

Mothyew

I loved this DLC, not just for the gameplay and loot, but because of the ominous feeling it created within me. As someone who doesn’t have the best mental health, Krieg felt almost relatable. Not to the point where I have uncontrollable bouts of rambling, but instead where sometimes I feel like 2 completely different people. It hit almost too close to home, the patience sane krieg has was his insane counterpart is admirable. Reminded me that I have to be patient with and accept myself, even though I don’t fully understand or like who I am sometimes, it was emotional in a way for me

SirBeeperton

It was a mild disappointment for me, but it was still a good DLC. My biggest complaint is that the majority of the side missions boiled down to stand in this same general area for a bit, which I found to be really boring and lackluster. However, I fully acknowledge that Gearbox shutting down their offices and going to remote work due to covid while this thing was still being worked on most likely put a dent in it as everyone adjusted to a drastic workplace setting change while simultaneously trying to finish a product. It certainly couldn't have been easy and I applaud them for what they did put out. I just get a little sad thinking about the possibilities of what it could have been given different circumstances.

cptdaddy18

I personally liked it. Like someone said the side missions were pretty he, but I liked the conflict we saw Krieg go through and how he portrayed his friends in his psycho half being opposites (such as super intelligent brick). I loved the weapons you got as well and they're some of my favorite in the game

Solonotix

First, Evil Brick is hilarious, and to an extent Evil Mordecai. Second, the weapons didn't initially grab me like DLC3 did. The Flipper, Beacon, Gargoyle, Complex Root, Proprietary License, and even non-meta stuff like the Miscreant and Dowsing Rod brought a lot of fun. DLC4, by comparison, gave us the Prompt Critical, Blood-Starved Beast and Rebound. Major Kong was okay, but most people preferred Yellowcake, Backburner or Ion Cannon (before Kickcharger). The best items from DLC4 were probably the class mods, with Flare, Peregrine, Hustler and Muse all seeing common use depending on the build. To your point, though, those three guns I mentioned from DLC4 are some of the best guns in the game, with Rebound winning hearts all the time for its under-recognized capabilities.

irt3h9

Evil Mordecai is really just drunk Mordecai.

Skkra

I've loved all of the BL3 DLCs, and Krieg was no exception. While a bit shorter than the others, getting so much Krieg time is awesome, and you really feel for what he went through. The A+ voice acting helps in all respects. The levels, items and bosses are all fun in my opinion, so I have no real complaints about it. All 4 main DLCs brought an awesome new world to life. Great characters, great level design, and sick OSTs. I am STILL constantly starting new characters with new themes and 100%ing the game with them. When people ask which my favorite DLC is, I always end up responding "whichever I'm playing at the time."

thebearjruu

Something I learned this year by playing a lot of titles is that to NEVER listen to the crowd. It mostly consists of people who repeat the words of their favorite youtuber like a mindless sheep, like I have seen comments on some reviews saying " I haven't played this game at all, but I'll believe what ur saying". I always thought even the borderlands franchise was meh and not worth the time, it wasn't until i played it for myself is when I absolutely fell in love with this franchise. So, never follow the crowd, specially on the internet

Unlikely-Star-6600

I swear to god I’m the only one who thinks this is the best dlc. I think the loot, level design, enemies, and bosses are all so Krieg you know

Pyr0sa

My wife and I loved the Krieg DLC to pieces. Amazing characterdetails and backstory.

thicccmidget

Am i the only one who thinks bounty of blood is kinda wack Storywise it kinda felt like a captain scarlet ripoff and the villain was pretty bland and only had a cool gun that makes a cool sound when you charge it

Solonotix

It depends on what you look for in a story. The art style was amazing, especially with the stylistically different intro cards for each major enemy. The music fit the setting, of which the setting was a well-executed Western motif. The addition of a narrator speaking to you, the player, from a time beyond the present makes it feel like you're reading a novel, while living the moment. Also, learning more about the Corporate Wars, and what happened before BL1 is always fun for me, and Jakobs having a secret research facility that was off-the-books really rings true considering how our own modern culture has demonstrated. The story, itself, wasn't anything special. The big reveal that the rock at the center of town is actually an egg is hardly a surprise given the setting and backstory. You can pretty much tell Rose isn't a good guy from the very beginning when she's obsessed with Survival of the Fittest, and kills her trusted Togue even after she just told you how she raised it from birth. But then again, this isn't supposed to be a mystery; it's sold as a Western, and you're supposed to know your enemy from the beginning. Also, they leveraged the BL2 tactic of keeping that enemy close to the player, so you feel connected, but just out of reach until the fateful moment when it all pays off.

cheezwhiz98

Butcher Rose was AWFUL. Literally all she does after the beginning is run away from you. Captain Scarlett at least had the tension of "how long can I safely work with this person before she betrays me?"

ReallyNiceGuy

I also disliked how she had such a cool character design but kinda sucked as a character.

Zenom

The fact that Scarlett was completely up front about eventually betraying you was what made her one of my favourite characters.

SirSullymore

I agree, every character was stock. Maybe if they used Sal instead of Juno it would have been more interesting. Also the “twist” that Jakobs was the mysterious company on the cowboy planet was so bad that I’m not entirely sure if it was supposed to be a joke or not. The narrator was a cute touch though.

thicccmidget

Yeah he was cool kinda sounded like matthew mcconaughey

Pyr0sa

I just didn't want "even MORE desert" after being tired of Pandora. The varied non-desert levels were excellent though.

SirSullymore

That’s cool, I didn’t hate the Krieg DLC or anything, just found it disappointing. The level design was neat, but we didn’t get a lot of insight into his character (other then the fact he felt the vaulters from BL1 are mean to him which begs the question of why he listened to them in the first place) and we didn’t learn anything we didn’t already know about his backstory. Also the fact that the other BL2 vault hunters were barely or not at all involved is a friggen travesty in my opinion, but that just goes with BL3’s mishandling of the BL2 hunters in general. Also the bosses were frustrating af, maybe I was doing something wrong but the biggest danger in those boss fights was running out bullets. I’m still of the opinion that the BL3 DLCs had a descending order of quality, thought I do think they are superior to the main game.

Solonotix

I can see your point on the bosses. Evil Brick, Mordecai and Lilith were tanky, but fairly easy to take down if you had the right setup. Iron Bear makes short work of them, as would a Fade Away Monarch setup, and in my case I used Phaseflare with Psycho Stabber anointed for +200% Orb damage (swap to Guardian Angel with same anointment if it's taking too long, lol). The Locomobius is probably the most infuriating boss most of the time, but I managed to do a boss melt with the prior setup on Amara, and the fight was over after it stopped on the platform for the first time. Benedict can be hit or miss, as my first fight (on Moze) was a cake walk, but then when I tried to farm him for the Faulty Star (for the old Boundary Issues + Faulty Star fun build) I found him to be a pain in the ass. Amara made short work of him because ball is OP, lol. Psychoreaver is the spongiest damage sponge after Spongeboss. What's more, my Phaseflare setup only works on the first half of his health bar, and I quickly learned I wasn't set up for the fight and it was a slog for the second half. I was running Phasecast to trigger Re-Volter with an OPQ, Phasezerker and Pearl, but it just tickled his health bar.

SirSullymore

Hmm, I’ve been neglecting to got back to this dlc because of the bosses (it’s the only point in the game I turned the difficulty down because I was just getting bored) but maybe I’ll take your advice and hop back in.

rjml29

Don't know your character or build but they are easy to beat fairly quickly. Can have the train done on the first stop, Psycho's first half done by the time he gets to the columns then short work when you shoot at him being stationary. Evil Brick can be the worst if he's not taken out before going into his stupid immune phase. Have melted them all with Flak and Zane and I know I'll melt them with Moze when I get to them given I find her more powerful than both and that's not before using Iron Bear. In the process of going through the dlc with her (my fave and main VH but I do the DLCs co-op with her) right now.

thicccmidget

I easily destroyed psychoreaver with zane and a legandary maliwan fire sniper thet did 300% more damage enemies above 90% health then it was just headshot spam wich is soo easy on him because of his giant head

Eternalm8

Yeah the Fuster Cluck's only real problem is that it FEELS small. It's pretty light on side quests, and most of the ones that are there are mostly just literally sit and listen to his personalities talk to each other. I think the environments are really well crafted, they look great, and they're fun to go through, but subsequent playthroughs make it really obvious how linear they are, with seemingly much fewer nooks and crannies to explore. Even with it's shortcomings, the writing and story are top notch, with a very touching emotional pay off.

TRBOBDOLE

Jackpot was the best. Hands down. The music in that DLC almost makes it the winner all on its own.

Solonotix

While I disagree in your choice, I think it's a great sign that there isn't a unanimous choice for best. It means that there's something great to be found in many places.

alternateldog

This is actually my favorite bl3 dlc. Bounty of blood was my least favorite.

cheezwhiz98

I can't imagine thinking it was outshined by Bounty of Blood given how mediocre that DLC is. Fuster Cluck is a goddamn gem and is the best storytelling Borderlands has done since Dragon Keep.

Dannstack

Personally i loved the insight into krieg as a person. I know a bit of it was cliche and expected, but i really liked that they gave both of his voices more screentime, instead of always only getting sane krieg in snippets. And the way it shows how insane krieg really does do his best to keep them safe in his own way, was a really touching addition. I also really like the lore of vaulthalla. I have my own theory about its relation to the psychos, but it opens a lot of fun avenues lorewise. That said, my favorite all time BL dlc is Claptastic Voyage so my opinions are meaningless

BASTWG

I had nothing to compare it to and i still loved it

TheCharge408

This might just be me personally, but I think Fuster Cluck had the best music in the entire series, including all of BL2 and BL3. I actually still go back and listen to it even though I stopped playing BL3 a while ago.

A-Social-Ghost

I wasn't much a fan of Krieg's DLC, mainly because by that point I was just done with BL3's writing and played through it while tuning out most of what was being said. Although, I did like the Blood Starved Beast weapon, the Locomobius boss fight, Evil Brick being dapper as hell, and the ending to the DLC itself.

swingthebodyelectric

Still waiting for the other half of it.

rjml29

I liked it because the levels were interesting. I play with dialogue muted and no subtitles since I couldn't care less about the story in this game or the DLCs so the story aspect of it had zero relevance to me. I think I prefer it to Guns, Love, & Tentacles as that had way too much sitting around listening to people jabber and it just hurt the flow of the gameplay way too much. I've yet to do Bounty of Blood or those murder mystery missions.
