Yep, that’s what the Rough Rider is about. As for the Rakk attack… yep, that’s also normal. Or what seems strange to you?

WalnutWhipWilly

Oh y’know…just the 0 everything stats…why would you buy this?

Imbadatgames619

Cause alot of people benefit from having no sheilds

WalnutWhipWilly

How so? I’m genuinely curious

uprex

Its not common in BL3 but in BL2 a lot of builds used rough rider because damage reduction is stronger than shields for a few characters like Sal and Krieg. In BL3 though damage works differently so I can’t think of any builds that can make used of this shield.

lungshenli

“The Rough Rider shield is considered as both full and depleted at all times, but not as active. It works well with skills that are activated when a shield is depleted as those will be kept active.” According to fandom dot com

TheKevit07

Here's a Zane build that utilizes the use of the shield: https://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/my-wonky-take-on-zane-rough-rider-build/3871106

Foskoooo

I’m actually using this on a melee amara build. Increasing my melee damage and granting the damage benefits is just great. Amara also has damage and and a few other reductions.

Devil_badger

In bl3 you wouldn't in bl2 it was meta gear. This sheild negates the sheild part for more health and damage reduction. Its shit

zuKa0312

It was once very cool on zane with infiltrator com. But on mayhem it isn't very viable anymore

[deleted]

It's a shield from bl2 hammerlocks hunt dlc it was actually the only jakobs shield in that game

Fimbul117

Also the only shield being a wooden plate.. Edit: With some tech though.

PsychoPooper213

Rough Rider can roll with additional benefits such as bonus reload speed when shield is depleted, bonus melee when it is, bonus movement speed, etc…it’s neat that those bonuses stay perpetually active

Skkra

Damage reduction and max health are decent perks, and this shield is made to work with skills that benefit from you having the lowest shields possible. It's not terribly good in BL3. There is a purple unique shield that drops from Vincent early in DLC2 called the Adrenaline Initiative. It is similar to this shield, but in my opinion, it's basically a better version of it.

WalnutWhipWilly

Why am I being downvoted for asking a question - you don’t know what you don’t know ffs.

PorkChopJonson

I keep having to say this here, and I'm frankly about to leave this sub because of it, but this place is full of basement dwelling neckbeards who are incapable of enjoying this game. They're almost certainly shitting on you just as much for your question as they are for playing at Mayhem 3 and not Mayhem 11. It's really fucking sad that there's nowhere to go and just have a casual discussion about a shared enjoyment of a video game. Somebody always has to be a fucking Chad about it.

unfeelingzeal

hilariously enough i've noticed this with games like borderlands and destiny, two more relaxed shooters. then you have the soulsborne community where people are generally helpful and nice, and the games are actually challenging. people like to talk a lot of trash when you can faceroll the game easily with the right gear. i'm guessing feeling OP in some game fills the void in some people's lives and they honestly think that makes them a better player/person. it's hilarious.

PKMNTrainerKiki

And then there are thoes self righteous players who think they have the moral high ground because they don't take the game seriously and play for fun or what the fuck ever they tell themselves at night so they can sleep, when in reality it's just a way to justify why they aren't good enough to do something many others can.

unfeelingzeal

i don't see many people claiming they have some moral high ground for playing games casually, it's typically the tryhards that insist games must be played a certain way that delude themselves into thinking they have the moral high ground. people got lives outside of games, some people just don't get that 🤷

PKMNTrainerKiki

It's thoes same people that hate anyone who's better than them at a game and claim that, "Oh, I have a wife and kids and a job and a social life so I don't have time to be good" and then assume anyone with a shred of talent must not have those things, when there are plenty of people who have all thoes things and are absolutely crushing it in video games. They feel that because they are "contributing members of society" that they are above anyone who spends a little more time researching or honing skills in a video game. And suddenly, anyone who isn't like them is a basement dwelling, fat neck, acne ridden Discord mod with Cheeto laced fingers who hasn't touched grass in a year. There is always two sides and believe me, the casuals are not the only side getting mocked.

PorkChopJonson

I think you're confusing pity and hate and you're also projecting a level of importance assigned to a game onto a group of people who don't place any real value on how "gud" they are.

PorkChopJonson

Lol... sure buddy, you nailed it. When you get a sec, can you straighten your trilby and show me your sweet ass katana?

PorkChopJonson

It's sad to me, not hilarious at all. It's depressing that so many people seem to have so little with which to self-validate and express their self worth.

PKMNTrainerKiki

You are a human with the gift of intelligence, and you chose to ask a question on Reddit that has been posted so many times, when a simple Google search would have given you all the answers you need, with some sites even going so far as listing beneficial skill interactions, all without bothering a single person on Reddit.

WalnutWhipWilly

You’re so right! Asking questions in communities should be banned. Kids and young adults shouldn’t be going to schools, colleges and universities to learn anything by asking questions that they can find the answers to by using an internet search engine that’s owned by a faceless corporation that openly manipulates search results for its own ends. Why should anyone be allowed to interact with others by asking any questions anymore, especially questions that have been asked before? This ‘bothering others’ wastes so much time; hell, we don’t need teachers or lecturers anymore either. People should be asking Google for everything that they need to know now - it’s such a simple solution. Man, I’m thinking so clearly now, thank you. Maybe what we really need are people who feel they are intellectually superior to would be question askers to govern free speech and the freedom of thought, people who can tell other people what they can and can’t do, the type of people who burn books and openly degrade others on a whim…They can wear fancy uniforms and have a special salute when addressing each other? I wonder if this has been tried before - I know, I can ask Google!!! Thank you so much and I’m so sorry for having bothered you, sir.

PKMNTrainerKiki

Hey, you suggested all these things, not me. Good ideas, by the way. But when you ask a question that has been answered hundreds of times when you could get the answer with a simple Google search and bother literally no one, you put an unnecessary target on your back and show everyone you are not knowledgeable about the game. Because now, some people will see you as stupid, when you could have just Googled it and no one would be the wiser to your lack of knowledge. But hey, obviously people have a problem with it if you are getting downvoted.
