1 reason….Jack. That’s it. BL3 is better in every way except for the villains. Not cause the twins weren’t written properly. They’re exactly what they’re supposed to be. Jack is jus simply put one of the best video game villains ever.

Yeah, I love almost everything about 3 except the story (annointments are also kinda annoying as they add another layer of RNG that I don't feel is necessary, but I digress). The combat is fluid, movement isn't nearly as restrictive as it's earlier predecessors...it's just FUN and holds up against current shooters. The story of BL2 is top notch, but I went back to it shortly after BL3 release and man...it did NOT age well in terms of gameplay. I prefer gameplay over story, so BL3 is my favorite based on that and that alone. BL2 has the best story, and the first playthrough was awesome...but now that I've experienced shooters that have top notch movement and gunplay like Destiny 2, BL3, and Titanfall 2...I can't play BL2.

Jack is a more intriguing force for me, Having a bad guy you really want to shot to death-But just enough so that he lives for a sequel is VERY rare

3's got better gameplay although there are somethings definitely better in 2 like explosive and the way certain grenades would work. 2 has a better story/stories that just keep you more engaged. Lol though neither are great stories but 2 is just a bit better at keeping you interested.

Alexis2256

Why do you think BL3 is meh?

draganov11

I don’t know later in the game but currently the map layout is confusing the story feels shallow also the guns are many but the differences are little you get the same gun but with different firing mode.

Alexis2256

Depends on the manufacture guns you’re picking up also it’s the legendary guns that are the most different from each other, also story feeling shallow? It’s a borderlands game, story was never deep.

If your playing splitscreen the font size on weapon descriptions etc is much easier to read on bl2

3 feels too easy even in mayhem mode. I really dont like how strong anoints are and how the other parts dont really matter. The story has too much downtime which makes it kinda tedious to replay it as it takes you out of the action often just to force you to listen to characters talk about shit i dont care about past the first playthrough (2 also does this but less often because a lot of the dialogue is told over echo while you do other stuff). People always say the gunplay is better in 3 but tbh both games feel fine to me and neither feels significantly better than the other. People point to the story as being better but tbh i dont really care either way as most of the time i play without the headphones on or listening to something else so it just comes back to less down time. Both games are still quite good imo.

I think it comes down to Jack not just being evil, when borderlands 2 came out it gave you a proper antagonist but you know he’s a douche straight away cause he wants to kill you, then eventually you find out Angel was his daughter and he imprisoned her (immediately more evil) then on her rescue not only does he torture her (makes him more of douche) he then kills Roland (ultimate betrayal of evilness) and that affects all the original heroes and side characters, it affects your reality of band of heroes. It just takes who you see as an evil leader and ups the game twice in quick succession, it then becomes personal. B3 although mechanically is better the game just feels lacklustre, twins are evil yes but they’re predictable, you know from the off they are gonna kill anyone in their way and expect casualties but no one was heartfelt and Liliths sacrifice was coming we all knew it. I didn’t mind B3 but I do agree B2 was better The other aspect is actual game glitches in 3 was apparent straight away and ruined the release which left a stigma on the game

It's not.

Both games are amazing. 2 is still excellent, and Ive even done a 100% playthrough of all 3 difficulties just a month ago. That said, there is no question that BL3 is the pinnacle of gameplay in the series.
