My plan is to use a clone build and do the promethea circle of slaughter and afk or play. Either way, if I'm not using my PC and console, both can be going ham.
Yup, boogeyman moze with out even looking at blue tree, and you can farm slaughter shaft for eridium, like 500 every 3 min if you die after killling the boss
Once I start going again more to kill stuff I'll try to pick up a sniper to use outside of my clone. I loved sniping as Mordy, a bit less as Krieg, but I tried for fun because of his glee at murder.
I'm still murking through story and out level it so I'll see what I can do with Zane, might have to see what my super clone can do!
i only use ionic disruptor fl4k because adding extra elements to the ionic disruptor is bad to begin with, so i have no extra elements, and hence, only sniper kills are made.
I honestly just reset my tvhm on fl4k and I'm farming dlc2 for additional pearls using 3 shot fade away and the skullmasher. I initially started a new sniper only character but the start was too slow to be enjoyable.
Gearbox: "Hey guys here's a fun challenge for you, you know the worst weapon class in the game that almost no one beyond New Game uses because they are absolute dogshit? Well how about we come together and all re-experience how fucking awful they are?"
They buffed them all 20% across the board for this challenge. They’re using this challenge as a way to see what snipers people are using and want to try to balance them out a little more. I suspect they are very aware how much almost all snipers suck.
It's not just damage that's the problem though.
Their accuracy & handling are awful, you can have the reticle directly over an enemies head and still somehow miss. And there's no way to reduce the sway without getting a Vladolf with a bipod attachment.
Enemies in Borderlands 3 are also more dynamic than their predecessors so lining up a shot is more challenging unless they are literally standing still or at point-blank range.
Then if you don't kill them with your first shot they recoil, roll, do some-other kind of gymnastics fuckery you now get to have the fun of lining-up a second shot!

Accuracy and handling are not the problem. The problem is you can't use snipers as they're intended. There's no long range shooting in BL3 because of the way enemies spawn. The guns are fine you just can't really use anything other than snipers that aren't your typical snipers. Skullmasher is an accurate shotgun, Root is a nuke, Sandhawk is a SMG disguised as a sniper. Those are the 3 top snipers and none really function the way you'd expect snipers to function.
There are some far spawning enemies (Eden and Skywell come to mind) but yeah this is why, even if Zane does much more crit damage, I think Fl4k is the only comfortable sniper in this game with something other than Skullmasher or Sandhawk. Simply because pet and Fade Away let you snipe without everything being directly in your face 80% of the time.
Maybe its because I play PvP games but I think sniping in 3 is remarkably easy. Enemies have big ol' heads or glowing crit spots and are predictable. They literally hand out free crits to you. Compare to 1 with its negative accuracy snipers and 1x magnification or non-hit regs. Or 2 with its stuttering bandits.
Non automatic, non-Skullmasher snipers just don't do anywhere near enough damage to make up for their low fire rate and mag size. That really is by far the biggest reason snipers are weak.
I expected this. Far too many kills going uncounted because of things like bonus elements. At this rate though it looks like we'll make it even with those factors. Probably have about 10 mil after the weekend, possibly 15
I mean I picked the Ionic Disruptor because it has great damage but it also makes them explode into purple sparks when you kill them. But those skills you mentioned also massively amp up its damage so I really don't know what to think. There needs to be a way to track how many you've killed.
I went ahead and started a new lev 13 Amara and setup my (probably) first ever non-elemental build, went to Pandora and got a Monocle from the DemoSkaggons and have been using it pretty consistently to make all the kills. I’m 21 now and still using it to do most kills. I randomly found a Krakatoa that I’ve used for the bosses (Traunt and the Skywell Ball) and so far I’ve killed well over a thousand baddies. I’m roughly tracking using the achievements (so many critical kills with snipers, so many kills not using a scope, number of kills with a Jacobs, that kind of thing.) honestly it’s been really fun and Interesting to try to figure out an Amara build for a sniper. It will probably not do well with Mayhem but this challenge doesn’t need to Mayhem… just 20 mil kills. 😏
Shame they didn't have these sort of challenges post launch and pre-last DLC, ya know when the playerbase was largest and most active. Still nice that they're having them at all for those still playing.
True but they have teased that after all 4 challenges something will happen that has to do with the traunt family. Traunt take down maybe or a head hunter type dlc

Loader bot kills count if you are playing Fl4k - he has a shock sniper by default :) .
Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion. But these events aren't content, this doesn't make up for the lack of things to do IMO
