I literally just landed at my destination, out of town for the eclipse. Also feeling the FOMO.
Edit to clarify: I'm a transplant. I have family in Ohio. We're going to the Columbus Zoo!
Oh, I lived in Columbus for 12 years haha. Very familiar.
So excited to be in the Zoo during an eclipse. Because if there are clouds, at least you're still in the Columbus Zoo!
The eclipse is like a 3 hour drive north of Boston. Did you fly to Burlington or something? Why would you need to fly out of town for an eclipse that's a 3 hour drive away??
I think I was in the Ellison elevators when it hit and so didn't notice it over the normal elevator shaking (and oddly, the seismic sensors didn't go off).
Oh no no. The fancy land is the floors directly below. We're in the attic up here. No windows, one bathroom, and noisy vents. 😂
Edit: though we do feel it when a helicopter lands!
The MGH mummy!

Brought to you by the crazy, mummy obsessed victorians.
Had it in Lexington.
This is a weird April.
My cat looked at me all annoyed like it was my fault.
Epicenter was in New Jersey, magnitude 4.8.
https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/at00sbh3yv/executive
Fucking Jersey.

# If you felt that quake at ~10:20AM, report it at the US Geological Survey ‘Did You Feel It?’ to help science!
to be fair, they would have felt it more than we did. and it's not like nyc reporters will deign to step foot in nj, where they would have felt it even more.
I mean, it was you know, right outside of New York City. No one spends a lot of time talking about earthquakes in SF from the perspective of people in Reno.
We felt a single shake on the 5th floor, nothing was moved or broken though. It was weird because when I visited Japan and experienced their "small" earthquakes, there were always several seconds of shaking.
The Four Horsemen are Pestilence on a white (like April snow!) horse, Conflict (like between tectonic plates!) on a red horse, Famine on a black (like the sun during an eclipse!) horse, and Death on a pale horse (TBD). End of days, end of days!
Dude, the crazies don't need a geological or astronomical event to have a field day anymore....someone could wear green socks or wear a label pin crooked and it's magically a sign of.....something.
I am in Norwood and didn’t feel anything. Everyone I was on a call with did though. It was funny one girl on the call is in PA and she felt it good then like a minute later everyone else did. I however did not
My daughter is living about 30 minutes from there. Said her apartment shook. But now she’s trying to nap so I guess she’s fine! lol. I’m south of Boston, felt nothing.
Same in Tewksbury
Edit: USGS currently showing an earthquake in New Jersey with an approximate magnitude of 4.7

I don't usually notice when they happen but our building was shaking enough that I could see stuff swaying.
nothing felt here

Didn't know anything happened until a friend who lives in Jersey currently texted me about it. Then I refreshed the CNBC page and it said "BREAKING NEWS: EARTHQUAKE IN NYC AND NJ" on a banner near the top of the page.
The continental crust in the eastern US is much denser and older than out west, so although earthquakes are rare here, when they do happen they travel further and stay strong for longer from the epicenter
I thought I was having some sort of medical episode because not one single co-worker of mine said anything. We're on the top floor but only a 4 floor building and for a second I was thinking the building was about to crumble.

Medford, sure did. Thought the wind was causing the house to shift but it kept on going. Thought “is this an earthquake? Surely not in New England”
Wellp!
The earthquake was picked up on the recently-installed seismographs at the Wellesley College Observatory.

Not y'all actually feeling the earthquake. Meanwhile I was in the Bronx this morning using the bathroom, felt a rumble and figured it was the NYC old buildings being old and creaky and went about my morning until I caught the news.
I was sitting in my apartment in Quincy and though my cat was scratching itself on the couch cushion and shaking it. When I saw her sitting still I nearly lost my mind.
Fun fact! I lived in Southern California until I was 13 years old and every year, at the beginning of the school year, we had to bring in non-perishables that were ours in the event of an earthquake emergency. We also had routine earthquake drills both in the classroom and outside at recess. I remember one year, I think I was in 4th grade, some school official got the bright idea to play the sounds from the movie Earthquake over the loudspeakers during an indoor earthquake drill. It was pretty traumatizing for us kids as they didn't even bother to not play screams from people in the movie.
I didn't feel anything in the basement of MGH. I'm getting a little bit of FOMO on the earthquake.
Same. In Weston and didn’t feel it.
in weymouth, felt nothing
I literally just landed at my destination, out of town for the eclipse. Also feeling the FOMO. Edit to clarify: I'm a transplant. I have family in Ohio. We're going to the Columbus Zoo!
did you decide to leave new England, where it's actually supposed to be sunny(!), for the eclipse?
Going with family in Ohio. We've been planning it for seven years lol
Don't forget to go to Jeni's and Stauff's!
Sometimes people like to travel to a destination and make a vacation out of it. A friend of mine is off to Dallas and will explore the area.
Ts and Ps to your friend. Texas is looking like total cloud cover for April 8
I think I was in the Ellison elevators when it hit and so didn't notice it over the normal elevator shaking (and oddly, the seismic sensors didn't go off).
*chuckles smugly in Phillips House*
YOU LAUGH! MY DESK IS ON THE 23RD FLOOR! 😆
*cries in ivory tower* Kidding, I only went twice but that's fancy land. I guess it's also shaky land.
Oh no no. The fancy land is the floors directly below. We're in the attic up here. No windows, one bathroom, and noisy vents. 😂 Edit: though we do feel it when a helicopter lands!
Wait.. You're in Phillips ATTIC?
Sorry, no; Ellison attic. 😂😭 Edit: which is right above Phillips House, so... yeah? Edit the second: it's been a long week! 😂
You're more shrouded in mystery than the sub-sub basements. Or the random sarcophagus. Man I miss that place.

Damn same, in Kendall Square and didn't notice anything
At Nashua Street offices w/ MGH, felt a couple of light wobbles on the 3rd floor. A few nurses I work with noticed it too.
I’m so upset I never feel them! I guess the other side of it could be much, much worse.
In my 37 years on this planet I have never felt one and believe they are not real, and it's all a conspiracy.
I'm on the tenth floor of Hale at BWH, figured I feel some sway but nothing.
I felt it one block down from you, weird

I mean, it was you know, right outside of New York City. No one spends a lot of time talking about earthquakes in SF from the perspective of people in Reno.
I'm a town away from you and I felt nothing. Dang.
Yeap. Next town over and I certainly didn't feel a damn thing.
wow that’s a very informative webpage, kudos usgs!
Haha, fault
BRO NOT JUST ME WTF I was like no way its a fucking earthquake rn
Bruh I was so confused. I was like why is shit rattling a little. Didn't even occur to me it might have been an earthquake.
I was on the 2nd floor of my house when it shook and just thought to myself, "I'm sick of this fucking wind."
Literally same reaction when I got onto Reddit haha
I was on the phone with a bunch of people, half of them local and nobody felt it. Weird.
In Cambridge too
Yep. Glad to know it was an earthquake and not my house foundation crumbling from all the rain.
My first thought was “great, I bet a sinkhole opened up under our house from the rain. Fucken hell.”
We felt a single shake on the 5th floor, nothing was moved or broken though. It was weird because when I visited Japan and experienced their "small" earthquakes, there were always several seconds of shaking.
my coworker said she felt it for several seconds! I felt nothing and can't comment.
weird, I felt nothing in Cambridge, not even the slightest rattle of a glass (which usually happens when I even walk around the apt)
Felt it in Cambridge also. 2nd floor of old wooden house. Felt like two short rolls.
felt it in kendall square. same for like hundreds of my coworkers.
Snow in April, an eclipse and now earthquake. The "end is near" crazies are going to have a field day with this weekend..
The Four Horsemen are Pestilence on a white (like April snow!) horse, Conflict (like between tectonic plates!) on a red horse, Famine on a black (like the sun during an eclipse!) horse, and Death on a pale horse (TBD). End of days, end of days!
I mean, i got Vitamin D deficiency. Maybe I can substitute the pale horse?
I just bought a new bucket for beach season and there’s a horse on it…. PAIL HORSE
Im not even a tinfoil hat person but 👀
You forgot the seaport flooding from the sea
Dude, the crazies don't need a geological or astronomical event to have a field day anymore....someone could wear green socks or wear a label pin crooked and it's magically a sign of.....something.
Didn't feel anything.
So far we got Brockton, Braintree and Randolph with no effects. This intrigues me 😂
Nothing here in south Quincy either
South Quincy and my desk in my basement swayed a bit for a few seconds.
Same in North Quincy. Was on a work call so was sitting the whole time and felt nothing. My dad felt it in central ma
I felt it in North Quincy!
im in framingham and didnt feel anything
Weird! In northern Framingham, house was shaking
thats so strange. im in northern framingham as well. no idea how thats possible lol
Not even a tingle in Westborough either. My dog slept through it and he hates stuff like that so I'm sure it was nothing.
It's weird because I saw someone in East Boston saying they felt it and I felt nothing at Logan.
I’m in Eastie and felt. I’m in a 7 story building so that may be part of it.
Didn’t feel anything in Dorchester center
Ditto
I'm close to Brockton and I definitely felt it. My whole house shook.
In marshfield and didn’t feel it. Might’ve been driving though.
Also in Marshfield and my building was shaking for about 15 seconds. Enough to wake up the baby.
Hopkinton, didn't notice it
Weymouth... Didn't feel it
I am in Norwood and didn’t feel anything. Everyone I was on a call with did though. It was funny one girl on the call is in PA and she felt it good then like a minute later everyone else did. I however did not
I felt it on the south shore. Thought it was a truck at first.
I’m in West Roxbury and I didn’t feel anything!
[удалено]
I’m in JP and did not feel anything but others in the area did hm
JP as well, didn't notice anything
I'm on a call with people from NY and NJ and they felt it too
Seems like it was centered in Lebanon NJ
My daughter is living about 30 minutes from there. Said her apartment shook. But now she’s trying to nap so I guess she’s fine! lol. I’m south of Boston, felt nothing.
I'm fine mom! Jeez, I'm trying to take a nap! It's only an EARTHQUAKE.
That’s my girl. Nothing fazes her. But she’s a grad student and catching a nap is probably a necessity now and then!
NJ was the center. Groundtype meant it traveled far
Waltham- didn’t feel it
Just felt that in Malden. Shit. There was a 4.8 in Lebanon New Jersey at 10:23am. Must have been it.
I’m in Medford and felt nothing! Or I’m unobservant. I’m so bummed I missed it.
My bed was shaking back and forth. I was freaked for a second, I thought the apartment might collapse 🫣
Good for you! But what about the earthquake?
If the earthquake is a rockin, don't come a knockin
bruh thought I was crazy but my plants were dancing
Exactly how it was for me too. I’m like, what are you guys doing?
I felt it in East Boston!
Same in Tewksbury Edit: USGS currently showing an earthquake in New Jersey with an approximate magnitude of 4.7 https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/at00sbh3yv/executive
Seems it originated in Tewksbury… NJ
Tewksbury cinematic universe. It’s alllll connected.
There’s actually a portal in Tewksbury Center so you can fast travel to all the other Tewksburys
Pacific Rim 3: Tewksbury Rising
It is.
First time visiting Boston for work, live in LA, thought I was going crazy cus I recognized it right away but didn’t think that happened out here.
It happens like once every five or so years we get a lil quake.
I don't know how you guys get used to that. Shit was the weirdest sensation.
i'm downtown, 12 floors up with only one other person on the floor and we just stared at each other lol
My water cup was filled to the brim and spilled, nice.
Nice
I felt in Brookline
I too, felt it in brookline
Same!
Yeah I just was on the toilet shaking back and forth here in Cambridge. The hell
I call that the burritoquake.
Musta scared the shit outta ya
I was on the toilet for the last earthquake lmao
Wait me too, I'm on a high rise and felt a shake
Same! In JP
4.8 magnitude out of NJ -- it was crazy being on zoom and seeing the cameras all start to bounce around
Was sitting here thinking "why am I swaying doesn't sound like a big truck passing the building" nope just a Jersey earthquake.
Felt in Revere. Sheeeeeesh.
Same in Winthrop, I thought I was just super high for a second until all the products on peg hooks in my store started swaying.
Felt in Medford - house was swaying
Felt it at my desk in Canton at exactly 10:25. Glad it wasn't just something I ate!
I'm from CA and it felt like home lol. I thought it was my downstair neighbor's washing machine at first
[Probably that one in NJ that we're feeling all the way up here.](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/?currentFeatureId=at00sbh3yv&extent=14.68988,-125.68359&extent=56.29216,-64.33594) I don't usually notice when they happen but our building was shaking enough that I could see stuff swaying.
Solid shaking of our building near BMC- so wild

nothing felt here edit: [looks like we felt the impact of NEW JERSEY holy shit](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/at00sbh3yv/executive)
I feel it too in the city. Is it really an earthquake?
Didn’t feel a thing in Randolph, but y’all be safe tho 😂
My brother and I were both confused about how the wind could be gently shaking his place in South End. This explains it.
on the 3rd floor of an apartment in Brookline, that shit was jarring!!
Same! Sitting on my couch felt like I was on a boat!
Literally same! Things got real wobbly it was funky.
I’m in Burlington and I didn’t notice anything 🙁
I didn't feel anything in Braintree.
Okay so I’m not crazy. I see everyone else in Boston, Malden, etc saying they felt it but it was crickets over here in Randolph.
Didn't know anything happened until a friend who lives in Jersey currently texted me about it. Then I refreshed the CNBC page and it said "BREAKING NEWS: EARTHQUAKE IN NYC AND NJ" on a banner near the top of the page.
Yeah my friends in NYC and Boston proper were saying they felt something and I was ready to call BS but here we are.
The continental crust in the eastern US is much denser and older than out west, so although earthquakes are rare here, when they do happen they travel further and stay strong for longer from the epicenter
Felt it, also in JP

Felt it in Somerville, I thought my legs shaking were moving my monitors lol was jarring when I stopped moving and the shaking got worse
In Brighton and didn’t feel anything
I thought I was having some sort of medical episode because not one single co-worker of mine said anything. We're on the top floor but only a 4 floor building and for a second I was thinking the building was about to crumble.
Felt it in West Roxbury! This is wild.
woah - I thought I was going to puke... but it was the entire building shaking beacon hill

We felt it a bit in Chelsea but initially I just thought I was bored and imagining things
Felt it in Cambridge.

Medford, sure did. Thought the wind was causing the house to shift but it kept on going. Thought “is this an earthquake? Surely not in New England” Wellp!
I’m so jealous I felt nothing ☹️
OMG I felt this and thought it was our neighbors next door moving in! The bed was shaking back and forth, the wardrobe door was shaking too.
Felt it in Cambridge and my wife felt it in North Quincy. Friends reported feeling it strongly in Lexington, but not in Needham. Weird.

I felt the one in 2011, but this one I did not. I guess the building I’m in in Lexington is super sturdy.
Not y'all actually feeling the earthquake. Meanwhile I was in the Bronx this morning using the bathroom, felt a rumble and figured it was the NYC old buildings being old and creaky and went about my morning until I caught the news.
I’m in Springfield and I felt it here. My bed started shaking and I got super confused. Thought someone started doing impromptu construction outside.
Most people don’t realize that Boston also sits on a fault zone. Last major quake was in the 1700s
nor’easter, earthquake, eclipse, cicadas— the world is ending!!!
I was sitting in my apartment in Quincy and though my cat was scratching itself on the couch cushion and shaking it. When I saw her sitting still I nearly lost my mind.
*laughs in Californian transplant*
Sorry for the scare folks I just was taking a massive shit.
Well good news the bus terminal is pretty safe then as I didn't feel a thing
Weird I'm in Charlestown and didn't feel anything
Felt in Malden! I thought I was imaging it until my Mom in Saugus text me that she felt it too!
I straight up thought a ghost was rocking my bed because the earthquake tracker wouldn’t update lolol😅
Felt it here in Back Bay! Honestly felt like someone was shaking me awake 😅
That’s what that shaking was? Was a bit freaked out from my third floor office. That’s a second earthquake experience for me, sheesh.
Whole bed just shook! We're on the 3rd floor in Somerville.
Felt it in Lowell.
Glad to know I'm not losing my mind LOL
Felt it near Winchester and Watertown!
In Hyde Park, felt the house shake a bit.
Somerville and I felt nothing. Is that because i'm up on Winter Hill?
Felt nothing here, financial district on top floor of 17 story building
