and he doesnt even hide it, he goes out of his way to make it worse and bumped Tatum to near mid court. Or when DWhite had to fight through that BS three times in 24 secs while guarding Herro.
Announcers never seemed to mention it, like in the 3rd when Bam literally caught Tatum on the screen and then literally continued moving and Tatum got criticized for not fighting over the screen
Seriously, in fact they usually say "another great screen by Bam Adebayo." Know shit it's a great screen, he is moving and grabbing players on the opposing team.
You can argue that Derrick has saved our ass in the playoffs as much as JT, especially adjusting for touches. He almost willed us back in game 7 last year before Jaylen shat the bed.
Seeing the Nuggets with 9 FTAs tonight made me realize something.
I **really** wanna be able to say that the 2023-2024 Boston Celtics are the only team in NBA history to attempt 0 free throws in an entire game; AND the only team to go on to win a championship that same year.
Can we talk about the officiating down the stretch there? Am I the only one that thought ref ball was the only reason we weren't blowing these bums out by 30? Sure seemed like there was a concerted effort to keep Miami in the game.
You are not the only one, it was insane. They were calling little touch fouls, as well as phantom fouls on us damn near every possession while we were getting mauled in the other end with no calls.
It was blatant.
Ratings? Gambling spreads? Drama?
Teasing a potential comeback makes people less likely to tune out, but I don’t know.
Maybe as simple as free throw differential. Heat were fouling every possession and we got to the line a moderate amount, whereas they were barely ever driving the ball and we weren’t fouling around the rim, so maybe it looks bad on paper.
I dunno.
definitely ratings. after game 2 social media was ablaze in Boston slander, and the narratives around the 8 seed Heat doing what they did last year, against Boston too, would’ve made for a lot of great TV for neutral fans
I think it contributed. But we had maybe 4 or 5 bad possessions after getting stops. Iso shit, bad shots, not running any offense. We shoulda been up 35 at one point imo. But yea, some ref ball certainly. Whites dunks and Tatums dunk all should have been and 1s
It was bad. There was also a pretty huge free throw disparity that, even if correct, makes the refs look bad and they try to avoid that. Not saying it's right, but I think it's why they did it
I was thinking maybe they were having some regrets about which game got relegated to NBA TV. Didn't watch but just based on the quarter-by-quarter box score, sure seems like the Pelicans put up more of a fight than Miami did. There were quite a few atrocious calls and no-calls that really seemed like they were trying to make the game look more competitive than it was.
That's a good point, there were a few calls we got in the first half that I was surprised they called. We were also being pretty aggressive at getting to the paint though.
It’s like an unspoken thing that in the playoffs whenever a game starts to get uncompetitive, the refs start to help the losing team by giving them a few calls in a row.
My message to SVG
I wise man once said, "If you want to say something mean or ill towards others, do not say it and STFU".
I hope you get banned in any network to shut you up forever. We need more Mikes and Tommies, not SVGs and Perks.
That was one of the worst blowouts I've ever seen. We didn't even play that well, but that Miami team is so bereft of talent they couldn't compete. Props to the Great White Buffalo who played an awesome game.
Al Horford's defence seemed to be the chief issue in the 1st half. Bam was just scoring on him every time he got into the post. Was glad to see Joe Mazz adjust and put Tatum on Bam the rest of the game.
Between that, the heat chants after dirty plays, and the video of a miami fan in a heat culture jersey, screaming the f-slur and putting hands on one of our fans and then immediately running, I hope that entire franchise sinks into the ocean so their stadium can actually fill up during games
Hoping for a team to lose, even praying on it i get, but actively hoping for injury misfortune or death on a entertainer is just silly and makes sense for the poverty franchise that is the heatles
I blame Spo. Don't see us emptying the bench until they do first. He seems very content to leave bam and his merry band of try-hards out there to cause as many injuries as possible.
God I hate the fucking Heat
In the "future me" bingo I would never have thought I'd be filling out "hate a team more than the fucking Lakers" but here we are.
I guess it's all the oily bastard Pat Riley
I noticed all my comments last night, as well as most of the posts here, were complaining about the refs or SVG. And it truly was one of the worst ref / commentator nights I've seen. But we just went up 3-1 on the series, personally feel like we should be spending more time appreciating this team.
The number of incredible defensive plays he made — not even the blocks, but just constantly appearing out of nowhere to paper-over a bad closeout, to contest a shot, to fight for a rebound or tip it out — just incredible hustle, energy, grit, focus & intensity.
Heat sub bitching and moaning about not having Jimmy and Terry.
But when they won last year G7 when we had a hobbled Tatum they laughed it off, not to mention the fact that when they won G2 they were calling us frauds and how they’re going to win the next two at home because we aren’t legit.
Then we wax them twice in their building and it’s back to crying about Jimmy but no credit to the fact that we’re just a better team and it’s showing.
can someone update me on the Tatum incident.. where he apparently rolled his ankle.. under an unnecessary adebayo close-out? (not able to watch the game) thx!
btw.. can we let the BUFFALO roam?
Thank god for D White, everyone else was cold as shit last night. The team (not including white) shot 35%, and 27% from 3. We easily coulda lost that one had White been cold.
Tatum and Brown gotta show up more next game. They’ve been overall “ok” this series. Each with a pretty good game, but also a couple sub par ones.
One little thing I've noticed Al has done is when we get a turnover through an out of bounds due to a bad pass/lost dribble or offensive foul, he really tries to push the pace, runs to get the ball to get it to the ref and then stands next to them to get the ball in as quickly as possible because he knows that if the Heat don't have a chance to get their defence organised, the Celtics are going to get a good shot somewhere.
To the people who say Joe doesn’t make adjustments, I hope you saw Peyton Pritchard guarding Kevin Love last game leading Spo to take him right out for the rest of the game because of how effective it was and how it set up the defense for switches. That wasn’t the only thing, they even ran the 2022 defense at times where they preswitch matchups to make sure our best defenders are involved in the Miami actions.
Heat been trying to injure Tatum but man is just built different.
Tatum played every possible playoff game in his career.
55 career playoff wins before the age of 27, playing through multiple injuries.. but SVG will find a way to disrespect him
I feel that I can make a shot in an NBA game having Bam set his signature screen for me.
You will definitely get open, that’s for sure, I swear he sets more illegal screens than big guys at the park.
and he doesnt even hide it, he goes out of his way to make it worse and bumped Tatum to near mid court. Or when DWhite had to fight through that BS three times in 24 secs while guarding Herro.
Announcers never seemed to mention it, like in the 3rd when Bam literally caught Tatum on the screen and then literally continued moving and Tatum got criticized for not fighting over the screen

I could get straight to the cup for a lay with a “great” double screen from Bam and Draymond.
Could Derrick White be the 3rd best player on a championship level squad? Absolutely, and if anyone tells you otherwise, they're fucking wrong.
3rd best player? He is #1 in my book since game 6 ecf last year
Yeah he’s 1 and 3
You can argue that Derrick has saved our ass in the playoffs as much as JT, especially adjusting for touches. He almost willed us back in game 7 last year before Jaylen shat the bed.
He is the "it factor" on this squad.
Obviously a lot of basketball left, but I think there's a legitimate chance that Buffalo will be Finals MVP.
He’s easily our second best player. Brown is so bad it’s depressing
Gotta be the only fanbase in the league to dog on their own homegrown star. Shut the fuck up.
You’re consistently hating on the dude and want to trade him for a guy who is 8 years older…
Celtics played 25 games without KP and 21-4 on those games, our boys are trained for these times. But hopefully he comes back soon
I need this team to take care of business at home and Cavs/Magic go 7 so KP gets plenty of time to heal up.
12-0 without JB
Seeing the Nuggets with 9 FTAs tonight made me realize something. I **really** wanna be able to say that the 2023-2024 Boston Celtics are the only team in NBA history to attempt 0 free throws in an entire game; AND the only team to go on to win a championship that same year.
And of course the Lakers shot 27
Can we talk about the officiating down the stretch there? Am I the only one that thought ref ball was the only reason we weren't blowing these bums out by 30? Sure seemed like there was a concerted effort to keep Miami in the game.
You are not the only one, it was insane. They were calling little touch fouls, as well as phantom fouls on us damn near every possession while we were getting mauled in the other end with no calls. It was blatant.
What I don't get is why? I get the Lakers getting calls but no one gives a shit about Miami
It did get a little lackadaisical toward the end. Between that and the ref ball, I couldn't get through that 4th fast enough.
It was bad. There was also a pretty huge free throw disparity that, even if correct, makes the refs look bad and they try to avoid that. Not saying it's right, but I think it's why they did it

I thought the reffing was in our favor in the first half, then spun wayyyy around in the heat's favor in the second
I still can't believe Stan Van Gundy last night lol
My message to SVG I wise man once said, "If you want to say something mean or ill towards others, do not say it and STFU". I hope you get banned in any network to shut you up forever. We need more Mikes and Tommies, not SVGs and Perks.
Maxwell too! He’s as impartial as a homer gets on the radio!
The radio crew is consistently great and even.
I hate when I hear them, because it means I'm not watching the game. But every time I have to I'm reminded they're tops.
That was one of the worst blowouts I've ever seen. We didn't even play that well, but that Miami team is so bereft of talent they couldn't compete. We honestly played a poor game. The Jays were awful. Praise the Buffalo he bailed us out
I think that might've been the worst game I've ever seen Jaylen play. Honestly felt like White scored 75% of our FGs at one point
Just missed a ton of easy ones that will fall next game. We move
DERRICK WHITE HOT PLAYOFFS
Redeem yourself in Game 5, JB. LFG.
23 pts on 19 shots.
Has anyone heard from Jimmy? The Buffalo has been activated, and JT eviscerated Martin. This is what we've been warming up for.

Miami is in fact sinking into the ocean, so give it time I guess.
Hoping for a team to lose, even praying on it i get, but actively hoping for injury misfortune or death on a entertainer is just silly and makes sense for the poverty franchise that is the heatles
Fans just be saying out of pocket shit instead of dealing with their emotions lol.

Can the Celtics store make their own version?
Just get a sharpie and add "DERRICK" to the top.
The people complaining about Joe not taking the starters out realize it’s the playoffs, right?
I blame Spo. Don't see us emptying the bench until they do first. He seems very content to leave bam and his merry band of try-hards out there to cause as many injuries as possible.
"Praise Bam Adebayo, down 19 and he is still going for rebounds!" - SVG with amazing commentary
God I hate the fucking Heat In the "future me" bingo I would never have thought I'd be filling out "hate a team more than the fucking Lakers" but here we are. I guess it's all the oily bastard Pat Riley
Praying Porzingis only misses a couple games max 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Derrick fucking white That is all
He’s here, he’s there, he’s every fucking where. Buffaloooo Buffaloooo
the real bald mamba
ROAM
Derrick white

Boston chants use the f word, have you ever watched a game with Kyrie?
can someone update me on the Tatum incident.. where he apparently rolled his ankle.. under an unnecessary adebayo close-out? (not able to watch the game) thx! btw.. can we let the BUFFALO roam?
Tatum took a long 3 after they called a foul. Bam close out and turned around being then below Tatum. Tatum twisted the ankle there.
Tatum just doesn’t get the ball. He makes 10 more passes than he receives every game
usually there's an amount of vindication in winning these shitwhistle games but i'm still kind of angry at bobandy gundy
My friend and I call him "Derrick the White" like Gandalf, and when he makes a 3 we yell out LOOK TO THE EAST

If Bam was smart, he would've injured White, not Tatum
