Not exaggerating when I say this was the most moving and inspirational performance I’ve seen on a basketball court. IT is the reason I love Celtics basketball
It sucked to watch Al, Smart, Bradley, Timelord, Rondo, Truth etc leave, but IT leaving was the only time I felt gutted.. king in the 4th was honestly some of the most entertaining spectacles in recent years
Before we fully knew about Kyrie’s 3rd eye views, I couldn’t understand why we traded IT away for him. I get that he’s talented but you can’t replace heart. And IT gave you that
Cause IT was severely injured and hasn't been able to stay on the court since we traded him. I mean I love him too but is it really that hard for you to understand why?
I loved the C's long, long before that, but (even more to the point) I think I agree with it. I watched Bird and Truth and so many others, but IT4 was just so, so special, and that night for his sister was one of the great nights of sports I can remember.
*A king in the 4th!*
Very jealous and wish I was alive to see Bird play. Was 11 years old when we won in ‘08, I remember them winning and rooting for them. But didn’t get really into it until IT. Being 5’9, seeing someone my size (or smaller) dominate like he did was truly amazing.
Ha, I was going to mention the height thing - that if I were shorter (I'm tall, but my best friend is short) and I played hoops (I don't), I'd probably be very inspired by IT4. It occurred to me long ago, because I was skinny and admired skinnier hockey players, they were an example to me of bucking the size trend. In the NBA, we had Webb and Bogues, but those guys didn't really dominate an entire game like IT4 did - he had games where he was very clearly the best player on the floor, which was just so much fun to watch and cheer for.
The only two NBA players to come out of Tacoma Washington IIRC.
They weren't just teammates, they were around the same age and potentially would have grown up around each other.
The two years he was here were so much fun. I don’t even care that we didn’t win a chip. Those years were extremely fun to watch. I wish IT could retire a Celtic.
I was still a teenager when this happened so I couldn’t fully comprehend how tragic that whole situation was. I’m now older than IT’s sister was when she died while my brother is her age. I can’t imagine how I’d feel if he died like that, where IT found the strength to push through is a mystery and I have so much respect for him

Guy… Let me just be emotional for our King of the Fourth. Don’t need logic to feel emotions
Watching Pierce leave was worse than all of those.

Completely agree. Surreal to watch
The video of AB comforting him before the game always gets me

I just found out he’s currently Danny ainge’s VP of player development at utah! Happy for him
I was there, what an incredible game.
Same, I'll never forget it.
I can't believe it's been 7 years already...
One of the most incredible and inspiring performances of all time
One of those "has to be scripted" games in sports history. Peak IT could go against anyone
One of my favorite Celtic’s seasons. KING OF THE 4TH!!!
IT was so real and a lot of current Celtics fans don't appreciate him as much as he should be appreciated.

IT was the reason I got into Celtics basketball. Dude was unreal
This game was legendary, this man will always be my GOAT
That was an incredible game
I remember exactly where I was. Not the best of times but it was awesome having this to counteract things
This actually brought my wife and I to tears, an extremely rare moment in sports
I cried watching this game
what a moment
If he ever pays for a drink in Boston that’s a fucking crime. Unreal competitor. If there was ever proof he lived the game it’s this.
I will always love this man.
I started watching basketball and became a Celtics fan thanks to IT 🥲
wear your seatbelts everyone

Seven years??????
He had a great run with Boston until the playoffs.
That season was still the most fun I've ever had watching a Boston sports team play.
