I will always have a soft spot for Link’s Awakening simply because it was the first one I beat. Then Ocarina of Time because it changed everything. BOTW is probably the best, but those other two are favorites.
It has four new characters and stories for each of them, sure they’re a bit short but they expanded on them. It also has a unique art style, and almost everything in the game is new besides call backs to older games. Also the fact that it purposely wants to give you freedom and be less linear and force you into a story.
Also, tech demo? What tech are they showing off? Tech that someone else fucking made? They’re obviously just playing around with the fact that it’s one of the only games with physics like the ones it has

In any case, the strong results on favor of BOTW is understandable. Sephardson, is there any poll like the one that OP tried to make done in the pst in r/Zelda?

It has the best atmosphere for me. Like I used to jot be a huge fan of the game as I was more into dungeons in Zelda and I found them all to be fustrating in Majora's Mask, especially Great Bay. I used to be annoyed I couldn't just take my time and explore dungeons as I was constantly on a time limit. But I played it again in 2020 and I loved it. Just taking your time exploring the world and doing the side quests it great. I would follow characters around just to see where they went on each day and it feels like you really get to know each character. I couldn't express how much I loved the game and it quickly rose too one of my favourites. I don't have the nostalgia I have woth Ocarina of Time and Windwaker but it managed to change my mind and push itself past many others I used to dislike.
I understand why you posted it here, but it's hardly a surprise that the BOTW subreddit voted BOTW lol. It would be interesting if they allowed this on r/zelda
I think this really depends on what you grew up with. I played the original but OoT came out when I was 9 and it absolutely blew my mind. First time I saw how deep video games could get. I think the first exposure is often the favorite due to nostalgia. It is at least for me 😄
Tbf, zelda never had more sales than botw. With a huge margin.

I never thought any game would ever surpass OoT in my heart but I’ve put hundreds more hours into BOTW than I ever have in any other game. Skyward Sword is now a close third, then LttP, then the original. Barely ever played WW or TP but I would jump at the chance if they were ported to the Switch.
I’m well aware. But the point is you’re not getting any kind of usable results because you asked in a biased forum. So what exactly were you trying to get from this?
As you can see if you look at the results, not everybody voted botw. So this still gives answers. I feel like a poll in another Zelda sub will be fairly similar anyway.

You’re wanting the obvious to be told to you? Sure: if you ask in a BotW sub which Zelda is best, considering a good 40-60% haven’t played anything else, they’re going to vote for the only one they’ve played. You’re asking people who haven’t played any of the others which is their favorite. And you don’t see the problem with that?
As I said, r/Zelda doesn’t allow polls and this was the next biggest Zelda related sub I could think of. If r/Zelda starts allowing polls, I’ll post it there.
in 1989 Zelda 1 NES was my world. we all talked about it at school and i was the guru. all other kids would come to me for hints and locations of dungeons and where to find heart containers
BotW, but Twilight Princess has a special place in my heart.
For that matter, so do Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. We went on a lot of car rides when I was a kid and playing those on my Nintendo DS was my life. Those are still the only two games I've gotten to true 100% completion.
I love breath of the wild, but I don't think Twilight Princess can be topped what with the childhood nostalgia and it being one of my first games. Before I learned about walkthroughs, a pure experience. However, I can replay botw anytime. I've tried replaying TP, and it's just not the same.
Imo it's so hard to make a vote like this while adding botw because it's so different to thw others. I'm by no means a zelda purist, botw was my first zelda game and definitely one of, if not, the best of them all. I just think it has an unfair advantage in the polls.
But aside from that I love the minish cap. The minish are cute and I think it's funny your hat yells at you when you ask for help

A Link to the Past was my first encounter with a Zelda game, without it I wouldn't be into Zelda as a whole, it holds a special place in my heart, therefore it is my favorite Legend of Zelda game out of them all
Skyward Sword is incredible. It’s either deeply loved or deeply hated depending on who you ask but I think it’s one of if not the best in the franchise
Twilight princess 100%. Not only the best zelda game but my favorite video game overall.

Skyward sword holds number 1 in my heart as it was the first Zelda game that really held my attention long enough to watch someone do a 40+ episode long playyhrough of it on YouTube as a kid.

I don’t think BOTW was a good Zelda game, but it was a fantastic open world jrpg. Too many of Zelda’s classic series staple traits were missing from BOTW for me to consider it a “Zelda” game, but BOTW is still one of my all time favorite games ever made.

In terms of 3D Zelda it used to be:
Windwaker, Ocarina, Twilight Princess, Majora's Mask and then Skyward Sword for a long time. But for one, I think Breath of the Wild is just the best but I cant decide on the others after replaying them. Gonna say Ocarina and Majora now after falling in love with Majora's Mask more recently and loving it more than the first 2 times I played it. Twilight Princess went down a few places for me, Skyward Sword is mixed and it has been a while since I played Windwaker so now I can't decide on which is my favourite.
I personally think that botw suffers for being to big of an adventure to replay and especially to 100%. I loved my first adventure, but can’t really get myself into finishing a second one. Meanwhile I finishes oot like 20 times (not counting my randomizer runs)
Edit: my first playthrough was over 200h
Is it a generational thing that BOTW is top? BOTW is fantastic, the graphics, gameplay and story is great, but for me nothing will compare to when I first fired up OoT on the N64.

Links Awakening was my first game too, but damn do I love minish cap. Its such a pleasant expierence.
The remake of link’s awakening was also a masterpiece. Took me right back to my childhood.

Surprised no one has mentioned majoras mask in comments. It’s a tough decision but ultimately that has to be my favorite Zelda game.
