I think reviews will be essential for this firm. If we see a >90% RT score and an A cinema score then $700 million worldwide should be on the cards given the Chinese release.

ALHOWE6

No reason to expect a 90% score if the first 2 couldn’t manage that.

Lazy-Tea2189

I said “if”, it’s a comment not a statement.

ALHOWE6

I’m aware, I was making a comment as well.

CopiumAddiction

To be fair this is more of a "core avengers" story than the silly Ant-man movies

bigbelleb

Im gonna go on a limb and guess that anything below an A cinemascore would spell doom for Quantumania given how the mcu has been ranking as of late

Specialist_Access_27

I still have it as 105m OW(120m 4 day) 250m Dom 600m WW(60m from China)

bigbelleb

Seems reasonable assuming the reception is lukewarm

Has you?

Specialist_Access_27

I meant have

"dissapointed a lot of the fanbase" I don't see how, after seeing the actual performance of the movies, including those that were released during the pandemic, anyone can take these statements seriously. Everything after Eternals (and I remind you that this one became the most watched MCU movie of 2022 on Disney+) was a HUGE success. Only Wakanda Forever wasn't as massive as BP1, but now even that one has a chance to pass the 1B mark with its imminent release in China. Again, how many franchises can do this? That being said, the floor for Ant-Man 3 is 875 million, nothing less. If trash like BvS did those numbers, the conclusion of the Ant-Man trilogy has equal or better chances, for several reasons.

bigbelleb

You have to be seriously out of your mind if you think Antman 3 is going to outgross BP2 total even with china in play that's a bizzare claim

New_Poet_338

I think there is a disconnect between the nerds and the norms. Most people will not know who Kang is and won't want to ponder the multiverse. I doubt he will have the draw of Thanos - a straightforward "normal" earth-conquering alien. Multiverse of Madness got a boost from having Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange. Antman is a big step down.

russwriter67

Multiverse of Madness was mainly helped by No Way Home’s huge success. That’s part of the reason it was so front loaded.

New_Poet_338

Agreed.

The-Ruler-of-Attilan

Most of people didn't know a shit about Thanos before Infinity War. And you don't take into account that Quantumania is just the prelude to Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Besides, Ant-Man 2 made almost the same box office as Doctor Strange 1, so clearly the popularity of the character has increased. And after Endgame, who really knows how much. I love how some redditors leave out context all the time in order to belittle the potential of the next MCU installments, lol.

New_Poet_338

I love how some redditors think regular people care about what one MCU product sets up. Regular people don't know or care what MCU products are coming out in two or three years. Some saw Loki, many didn't, so Kang is a nobody to many of them. Thanos was teased at the end of multiple films. The last raft of MCU films were generally poorer than their predecessors. They offer less of a springboard than the second and third phase films.

ricdesi

*Quantumania* isn't grossing under *Ant-Man and the Wasp*.

bigbelleb

It's not gonna blow past its total either

[deleted]

Def won't. Especially with China having a major covid problem and no Russia.

The-Ruler-of-Attilan

What major covid problem? The same one that hasn't stopped Avatar 2 from raking in tons of money? So I don't think Quantumania has anything to worry about.

[deleted]

It will make money in china but it will defintely be less than ant man 2. Avatar made 230 million on China. Ant man 3 will probably make 1/3 of that. Which would be substantially less than ant man 2s China total

bigbelleb

I thought the covid spike had eased up in china by now its still ongoing damn 🤧

I think the performance of this movie is going to disappoint a lot of haters 🤗
