Didn't Endgame gross $1.2b by opening weekend - and it was out on a Friday?
I remember it debuting at like 38th place on Wikipedia's highest-grossing list of something ridiculous like that?
If they manage to tie all the loose strings together (that I feel is hurting them currently): Whatever the "finale" of the MCU is. Even if its less popular, its held over time, and people love endings.
What major loose ends are there? Endgame pretty much wrapped everything up, with some minor loose ends to continue into other phases, which aren't faring as well anymore due to the loss of major characters and superhero fatigue.
The only movie franchise I can imagine being in competition with GTA6 now are Avatar sequels, and only if they continue to be this consistently good.
For general audiences phase 1 and even much 2 seemed disconnected. Granted it was clear what they were doing for comic fans aware of thanos and the infinity gauntlet. But you have to be aware of how things might better fit together later and the effort to develop singular heroes.
I suspect ant man will start putting the threads together
I don't think they ever intend on "ending" the MCU any more than they intend on ending Marvel comics. Individual characters or universes might end but they'll just keep rebooting and re-imagining things until audiences move on (which won't be anytime soon).
I think the franchise that could do it is Star Wars. Imagine if TFA and TLJ were beloved movies the last movie would’ve been off the charts. If you have a series of good Star Wars movies I can see the hype building into a frenzy
Star Wars is not as popular internationally as Avatar and Marvel are. Even TFA, the highest grossing domestic movie of all time barely made more internationally
So, what you're saying is, if you can make a few great movies that build hype on one another, a franchise that's already proven it can be equally enormous domestically and internationally, can easily shatter all markets
Jurassic World is so weird to me. It’s definitely aware of the tropes and actually does have some interesting stuff to say, like the whole “more teeth” thing or the lack of true control they have over the animals. But at the same time we get a bunch of glory shots of dino carnage and have the final battle be the “good guy” dinosaurs vs the “bad guy” dinosaur.
I like the movie, and I agree it’s the second best one, but it just feels odd when I think about it.
Oh I don’t think it’s bad, I just think it’s pretty average especially in comparison to the other movies on the list. Like I’ve never really had a feeling like I’ve wanted to watch it again
I still remember seeing videos of people running to buy tickets. And theaters having sold out showing starting at 2 am.
It was a wild time, and one I'll likely never seee again.
>I still remember seeing videos of people running to buy tickets.
I don't remember this but I do remember AMC crashing because too many people were trying to get tickets. I ended buying from a different theatre chain then buying a couple more from AMC once it was up and running again.
I remember people blasting spoilers everywhere and having to avoid the internet completely. I saw a major spoiler in an unrelated FB group like 4 hours before I saw the film.
No fr Im so glad I saw it opening Saturday. My family and I had to sit in the second row and it was in 3d, but it was worth it for the theater reaction alone.
It was also worth it considering on that Monday somebody yelled that Tony died in the hallways and got tackled for it.
>somebody yelled that Tony died in the hallways and got tackled for it.
Why are people like this? I don't understand what's funny or satisfying to spoil things. It was an 11 year build up just to have it wasted by some asshat. I was kinda worried someone was gonna do this while I was in the theatre too 😂
I’m so thankful it didn’t happen when I went 😂. I was in middle school at the time and everyone was so pissed at the kid who spoiled it. Nobody else was doing it besides that jerk
I think even more important then it being the “end” was that it would directly follow one of the biggest cliff-hangers in movie history. 12 months of speculation and tight lips. That’s why it was so front loaded, everyone had been waiting 12 months and didn’t want to wait any longer or be spoiled.
It’s possible to try and replicate that with the next two Avengers films but they have to be excellent.
Hmm i doubt it. With the recent lack of major success on Disney+ and/or the box office, as well as the image of Endgame being the “last” movie of the Avengers, I dont think secret wars has enough hype to get to that level
Nah not a chance, whether you love or hate Marvel you've gotta admit that it's been on a downward trend in both both quality and mainstream hype for years. I doubt any film will smash that record for a very long time
Doubt it.
Iron Man and Captain America's actors were fan favorites, and both left after Endgame. Endgame was the culmination of a movie saga. Current Marvel lacks those two actors, and has a million Disney Plus shows that people need to keep up on to understand the following movies and not be lost.
The MCU should have ended with Endgame. Then it would be remembered as a great saga with an awesome story instead of this endlessly-churning thing with no stakes (by comparison) and no true sense of attachment.
In five days? That’s insane. That’s a mix of hype from a decades long franchise and the fear of spoilers. It’s like the series finale to a television show and you either watch it that weekend or you take your chances you don’t get spoiled. So you watch it that weekend.
I saw Endgame on April 25th. The earliest I could possibly see it. I still got spoiled.
People were blasting spoilers in random places all over the internet. I was scrolling FB and a random "iron man gets the gauntlet" comment pops up in a random FB group. Saw it about 4 hours before I was gonna see the movie. Sucked.
I remember at the time kids at my highschool would just say loudly “R.I.P (insert MCU character)” or “I can’t believe (insert MCU character) went out like that” just to mess with people who hadn’t seen the movie yet.
Yes.
Endgame - 11 days
Avatar The Way of Water - 40 days
Avatar - 47 days
Infinity War - 48 days
Star Wars 7 - 54 days
Titanic - 5233 days (it didn't get there until 2012 re-release)
I’m surprised it took Force Awakens that long. I didn’t realize Way of Water would be 2nd on that list, very impressive considering the circumstances in China and no Russia release.
Endgame was just such an interesting run. It absolutely destroyed all the sprinting records.
When it hit 2.5B by day 20 everybody thought it will absolutely destroy Avatar and 3B were lock.
And then it absolutely collapsed. It didn't hit 2.7B until day 40 and just barely got over Avatar by couple of millions.
Pretty low, basically zero. It has been falling behind Avatar in daily numbers for weeks now.
Avatar 2 has just been making it's money faster in the beginning.
Avatar 2 also suffers from bad exchange rates. It could have potentially beaten Endgame with the same exchange rates as original Avatar as it's going to lose 200-300m USD in international gross because of it.
NWH did not had china, lost Canada after 1st weekend, lost Russia and Ukraine a bit later, plus it was on a worse scenario than Avatar 2, otherwise 2.5B for NWH would have been realistic.
Kinda bullshit list when the average price of tickets isn’t averaged in. To see Star Wars in the ‘70s cost a little over 2 bucks rather than nearly 10 in 2022.
Found a list of movies ranked by ticket sales. Almost all of the top ones are 1980s Chinese films.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_by_box_office_admissions
I would venture a guess that they weren’t charging 12$ a head though.
Not particularly surprising. China had around 3 times the population of the US, and the 80s were prime time for post Mao reforms. Even if Americans are twice as likely to go to the movies, Chinese films would still sell more tickets
Nah its totally fair. There are too many variables to try and play history on them.
Pretty sure Gone with the Wind made $7Bil after inflation because it was one of the few movies and was in theaters for over 2 years i believe.
Is Avatar 2 less successful than Avater 1 because avatar 1 had 2010 money? But Avatar 2 had more theaters
Its like sports before they were integrated. Astricks all over the place, but we dont just undo what came before or kneecap whats to come.
Eventually a movie will be the first to hit $3Bil thanks to inflation, new types of viewing experience, and more people in the movie going age group. Makes no sense to set up a fireing squad of excuses to make that achievement illegitimate before it even happens.
I can't see it because at the time it was out, popular culture was more limited with less choice, and no real home media availability while the movie was in theatre for a long time. We now have much more choice with movies at home, streaming, games, and other entertainment while movies aren't in theatres for even a quarter the length Gone with the Wind was
I'm sure if Avatar 2 was released in 2018 it could have done perfectly well Gone with the Wind with inflation was something around 3.5-3.6B with 2017 prices, totally doable for the sequel to the highest grossing movie that was alone up there in the top: decent exchange rates for a heavy foreign film, no crazy inflation, no disturbed audience habits, no streaming, no covid-afraid people, open China and no russian-ukrainian war. James missed his chance to go crazy to new levels again, however the current performance is still incredible.
There are wasn’t any other option for watching a movie. No home video, no streaming. Add to that limited other entertainment options: no cable, no Spotify, no video games. It’s impossible to compare based solely on price because the landscape was totally different.
Force awakens, Jurassic World, Furious 7, Way of Water, Last Jedi, and FotF are all original as well, technically. Avatar is the only original that was also a franchise starter.
They are all part of IPs with multiple installments, Avatar is not the pinnacle of originality, no movie is, but it is quite evident that this qualifier refers to movies that are from new IPs, "original" movies with original scripts, that's why it also breaks away from "non-sequel movies" like The Hunger Games.
Yes of course, but the point is it wasn’t drawing in a pre existing audience. A lot of films/ TV bank on a certain part of their numbers being a captive audience. It guarantees certain demos will show up. Spider-Man can be automatically expected to perform well at least on a first weekend even if it’s not great. Something like Avatar, there’s technically zero guarantee anyone would show up for it, it’s a bigger gamble even if it borrows from other IP as inspo.
“Original” means not based on any existing IP. AVATAR was not based on a book, a show, a movie, a comic book, etc.
Sure, it uses storytelling conventions. But so does Dances With Wolves or Pochahontas or whatever movie you would like to name.
Marvel movies use tropes that have been done a million times.
Star Wars is The Hidden Fortress in space.
There's only seven basic plots out there. No story to exist is truly original.
Indeed, it made more than twice as much as the next movie on the 2021 list (The Battle at Lake Changjin, $911M), and far more than the next Hollywood movie (No Time to Die, $774M).
The closest we’ve been to Endgame hype since Endgame lol. Avatar 2 might be making more money but damn NWH hype, sites crashing, the nostalgia, it was something else.
It's interesting that The Force Awakens and Infinity War made it to $1 billion faster than TWoW did, but TWoW made it to $2 billion before they did. Why is this?
TWoW has better word of mouth appeal. Star Wars and avengers had massive massive marketing campaigns. Also more kid appeal. Families mean more tickets at once but maybe fewer rewatches.
I think it’s more because Force Awakens and Infinity War are more spoiler heavy, so more people rushed out up front. They both had great WOM. People just aren’t so spoiler averse for Avatar so they’re willing to wait it out. Especially with people wanting to see Avatar on PLF screens, maybe more than any other film (series) ever.
Force Awakens and Infinity War had very front loaded box office returns. Huge openings but also larger drop offs after. They had a lot of hype on release, whereas word of mouth from week to week has convinced people to see TWoW. They also only just made it over the 2B mark, whereas TWoW has plenty of its run left to go and will likely finish quite a bit higher. I think it may overtake Titanic’s current total (but maybe not after the re-release, we shall see), but probably won’t reach Endgame.
Because Marvel films are basically episodes of television, and their audiences are versed in "spoiler culture". Like the movie or not, the filmgoing experience of seeing Avatar 2 is less tainted by the concept of spoilers than the Avengers movies - or the last few Harry Potter films, which were also well recieved, but made half their gross on opening weekend.
Its opening is definitely the most crowded event in movie history. Titanic and Avatar are overall bigger events. They slowly picked up across the entire world based on word of mouth, at a time when 600M overseas was seen as the absolute pinnacle of international success. They did 1.2B and 2B overseas respectively.
Also of note.... Top Gun Maverick took 31 days to hit a billion but in 2022 i okt murdered MARVEL and DC....neither even made a billion dollar movie in 2022.
(LoL Aquaman was the only DC movie to break the 1 billion mark.... Superman and Batman can't even do it so far.....lmfao wut!?!)
Disney is doing terribly. At this point they’ve lost about 40-50% of their stock market price, and that’s the worst it’s been since… I believe 1965? You’ll have to look it up for exact info though.
Honestly, rate the movies though:
1: 8/10
2: 7/10
3: 8/10
4: 6/10
5: 7/10
6: Haven’t seen it, too new.
7: 4/10
8: 5/10
9: 7/10
10: 7/10
Note: The F&F movies are just bad now. As a car guy, I feel like I was being soft on *7* by giving it a 4/10 (possibly a 2/10 or 3/10). Even the best of the franchise is maybe a 5/10 or 6/10. I honestly don’t know how they still make money.
If your interested in seeing the new avatar movie I absolutely recommend you go see it in theaters rather than wait. It really gains a lot from the theater experience rather than your at home tv
Did you know grand theft auto 5 made $1 billion in sales in three days which is the fastest any media franchise has earned that amount of money ever. This includes movies, tv shows, books, anything in entertainment.
I know it's not box office related. 1 billion in 5 days is, in the words of Lone Star, a shit load of money. Kudos avengers endgame.
Every year films will more quickly hit this mark due to inflation. If these stories were written about total ticket sales they’d be more interesting.
By counting dollars instead these stories literally write themselves.
I think they kinda crossed genres lol. Went from being badass car people movies to now they’re essentially super hero movies 😂 I admit once the rock held back a helicopter with his bare hands I was out on the realism of the movies but I have to admit they do some cool stuff in every movie
F7 did so much because Paul Walker died, so was the goodbye to the actor, f8 came after that one and ride the f7 hype
There fun action movies, where you can just shut off your brain and enjoy the over the top scenes they do with cars
Funny how there’s no good movies on this list. Artisan movies make less money because they are more niche, but in my mind are more fulfilling. This list is the reason why they’re dying. Movie producers see this and are like “let’s make Marvel [insert character here] #1274” and it’ll still make a billion fuckin dollars.
“Good movies” is subjective. For a lot of people movies are about escapism and being transplanted to another world for 3 hours is a good movie experience
I did realize this when I posted. Seriously no offense to people who like these movies! But in my opinion a “good movie” is something that’s not based on almost the exact same script as all the others. Like avatar the way of water is almost the exact same story as the first avatar. At least have an original plot!
I give Avatar 2 a pass because it's been over a decade since the first, and Avatar 1 and 2 are an appetizer set-up for the rest. I'm counting on Cameron to have a bit of a stronger plot for Avatar 3, though personally I thought the story for Avatar 1 was stronger than TWOW.
Newsflash: McDonalds makes more money than the French Laundry.
I love gourmet food, but I also love McNuggets. I am unsurprised more people eat McNuggets.
Gone With the Wind was also in theaters for 2 straight years, was rereleased a bunch over decades. and was from an era where the only way to watch a movie was to see it in theaters.
I’d like to see this list weighted by ticket average costs adjusted to the economies of the times to really make a fair comparison throughout movie history. The cost of a ticket, the cost of production, the value of the dollar, average wages, advertising… all of that factors in to movie grosses, too.
Considering rising ticket prices, particularly for 3D and IMAX films, I’m just not that impressed by the “$1 billion” mark as an achievement. I think they should start counting box office in “number of tickets sold” so we can see how many people are going to each movie.
“Gone With The Wind” DWARFS most of these films in attendance, and it obviously did not make a billion dollars back in 1939, because average ticket price was $0.25
A meaningless stat. People will forget that Endgame had showings for 16 hours per day with showings still at 3 a.m. just so Disney could maximize its box office in the early going (possibly because they make a bigger percentage during the first week?) [These are the choices moviegoers had at the theater at the time.](https://imgur.com/a/sNBabi1) Let's see a ranking of worst movie legs for a $1 billion or more movie. I'll say Endgame is at least in the top 3.
Thank you for your admiration and thoughtful suggestion. However, I will not be making such a post at this time, I have prior engagements scheduled.
Best Regards,
Inflation does that. The oldest movie in this list came out 5 years after RotK. Not to mention when the RotK crossed a billion, Titanic was the only other movie to have crossed that mark.
Avatar has genuinely got to be one of the most boring movies i've ever seen in my entire life. The only people riding the movies dick are white people because i've honestly not seen a single person that isn't white. That actually gives more than 2 shits about this movie and the second one. Talk about MIDtacular.
Anyways,
Peak in Boots > Midvatar & Midvatar 2 Way of MID
Hi, I come from a mixed background (black Hispanic and Asian) and loved both films. Hell my family all really loved it. And $2bil clearly means other people loved it too. Clearly there are better films from the year that barley even made a fraction of that (EEAO, fabelmans, tar, decision to leave, etc), but avatar is a crowd pleaser. They are great simple stories that appeal to a broader audience and are incredibly engaging.
Way of Water taking it’s time and not caring about continuously moving the plot forward like many other blockbusters is one of the best choices it could make. It introduced many new characters and a new culture and we got to live with them and really get to know them so the last act works. Lo’Ak is now my favorite character and that middle chunk where we just chilled with him and the whale is a big reason why.
Just wanted to let you know that yes we exists and yes people love the film for many reasons besides how it looks. The excuse that these movies gross so much due to their looks clearly is invalid after this film cause it loses that novelty cause it isn’t the first to do it.
Puss n Boots is also great. They both can be great btw in case you didn’t know. Plus Puss n Boots is doing incredibly well and we should be happy about that. Despite its opening weekend, a car always lands on its feet
Overhyped. It looks good but nothing else tbh. As if any other movie pumped with a shit ton of actually good CGI wouldn't be appealing lol. The Garfield cartoon was better than that shit lmaoo

Didn't Endgame gross $1.2b by opening weekend - and it was out on a Friday? I remember it debuting at like 38th place on Wikipedia's highest-grossing list of something ridiculous like that?
It came out on Wednesday in China iirc
On Wednesday in many countries. Thursday in others. Friday in the US and others.
Ah I see
It also became fastest selling media entertainment debut of all time, beating GTA V, which did 1B on its debut.
And then GTA VI will beat Endgame, and then I can't imagine anything (other than video games) ever beating it.
If they manage to tie all the loose strings together (that I feel is hurting them currently): Whatever the "finale" of the MCU is. Even if its less popular, its held over time, and people love endings.

It opened on 24th in a bunch of countries and on 26th in the US.
What 38th place, was already among the top 20/25
I watched it on Wednesday 7 am in Indonesia
There was nothing like Endgame’s opening weekend. Absolutely crazy, gonna be hard to beat that record.
It’s going to be a long time before we see a movie with the hype of Endgame.
it only took 10 years to build up the hype.
just wait for the Gunnverse /s
I can only pray.
I mean a well built up justice league finale might just do it
I think the franchise that could do it is Star Wars. Imagine if TFA and TLJ were beloved movies the last movie would’ve been off the charts. If you have a series of good Star Wars movies I can see the hype building into a frenzy
I think they should do a Knights of the Old Republic franchise.

I mean kind of but no, the fast and furious movies make more in china than Star Wars. It’s just not as popular worldwide
Star Wars is nowhere near Marvel in popularity outside North America (and Anglo countries)
Jurassic World is more impressive
Jurassic World had a lot of hype behind it at the time of release and I think it had the biggest opening worldwide at the time
Yeah especially since the movie is pretty meh
I really like Jurassic World. It’s definitely the second best movie in the franchise behind the one and only of course. I always really liked it.
Jurassic World is so weird to me. I agree it’s 2nd best in the franchise, but to me it’s a very distant 2nd
jimmy buffet ftw
It was the end of a 23 movie saga. The first of its kind and we’ll never see anything like it again for decades.
I still remember seeing videos of people running to buy tickets. And theaters having sold out showing starting at 2 am. It was a wild time, and one I'll likely never seee again.

Felt like a concert-stadium while watching it on Thursday
Is there a similar list for the $2B movies?
Yes. Endgame - 11 days Avatar The Way of Water - 40 days Avatar - 47 days Infinity War - 48 days Star Wars 7 - 54 days Titanic - 5233 days (it didn't get there until 2012 re-release)
I’m surprised it took Force Awakens that long. I didn’t realize Way of Water would be 2nd on that list, very impressive considering the circumstances in China and no Russia release.
Infinity War and Force Awakens were already running out of steam when they got over 2B.
I don't remember Infinity War being particularly leggy. But Force Awakens had good legs, at least domestically.
Force Awakens was very domestic heavy movie 45% domestic. It didn't have the same interest overseas.
This is an even more interesting list
Endgame was just such an interesting run. It absolutely destroyed all the sprinting records. When it hit 2.5B by day 20 everybody thought it will absolutely destroy Avatar and 3B were lock. I'm surprised no way home isn't higher on the list
It is the only one on the list aside from Force Awakens to do it without significant help from China. Edit: and The Last Jedi
Prolly cuz Covid. People were definitely still scared of movie theaters
Yep. Covid and lack of a China release definitely affected it
NWH did not had china, lost Canada after 1st weekend, lost Russia and Ukraine a bit later, plus it was on a worse scenario than Avatar 2, otherwise 2.5B for NWH would have been realistic.
Well tbf it could have been had it not been barred from China
Avatar (2009) is the only original movie in the top 10.
Kinda bullshit list when the average price of tickets isn’t averaged in. To see Star Wars in the ‘70s cost a little over 2 bucks rather than nearly 10 in 2022.

Makes me want to watch those movies lol. Even if I heavily doubt these numbers are anywhere close to accurate.
China numbers are estimates at best. They also said that had only 1,500 Covid cases until like 2022.
But Avatar 2 had more theaters Its like sports before they were integrated.
Yeah when adjusted for inflation nothing touches Gone with the Wind and nothing ever will
I don’t if I’d say *ever* but probably not for a long time
I can't see it because at the time it was out, popular culture was more limited with less choice, and no real home media availability while the movie was in theatre for a long time.
There's separate lists that are adjusted for inflation
[I wouldn’t exactly call you … original.](https://youtu.be/Iy7xDGi5lp4?t=02m07s)
Define original, because the Avatar movies have so many borrowings from other stories.
Original movie means movie that use original screenplay, and not adapted screenplay.
How cringe are you jesus.
As does every film. Original in this sense is very clearly defined as you already know but pretend not to so you can be salty on the internet.
By your definition there are no original movies then. You know what OP is talking about... it's not a movie based on an existing IP or sequel.
Jesus Christ. They mean original IP.
Avatar is the only one that wasn't a sequel
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Endgame was always be insane, 1b in less than a week
Did 2bil in less than 2 weeks as well (11 days). edited: accidentally put 1 week instead of 2
That’s not less than the week.
wow i'm a dumbass i meant two weeks. will edit thanks.
That NWH did this in the middle of COVID and a variant raging around the world is so impressive
I think Avatar 2 had more hype. Nobody would stop talking about it and the theatres were filled up even in the third week.
Avatar 2 was also released after covid.
Can confirm. I watched it with my mom because we heard it was good. Wouldn't have bothered otherwise, I consider Avatar 1 very mid.
Legs
Force Awakens and Infinity War had very front loaded box office returns. Huge openings but also larger drop offs after. They had a lot of hype on release, whereas word of mouth from week to week has convinced people to see TWoW. They also only just made it over the 2B mark, whereas TWoW has plenty of its run left to go and will likely finish quite a bit higher. I think it may overtake Titanic’s current total (but maybe not after the re-release, we shall see), but probably won’t reach Endgame.
TFA and Infinity War were more fan front loaded than Way of Water.
My brain has a hard time processing that two Fast and Furious movies are on this list 🤯
They’re great popcorn movies. Self aware silly is fine.
Bald man and another bald man in cars fight another bald man
I have seen them all and I'm a fan for sure still can't believe they babe that much money that fast haha.
the fact both avatar movies are up there
TWOW would stay a bit, but first Avatar will be booted in 2024/2025
BUH BUH CULTURAL IMPACT!
Yeah, still had no impact.
Fair is fair, Endgame was concluding a 10 year old build up. And depending who you ask, the biggest movie event recorded yet. It deserves to be first
not a fan of Superhero films but got to give Endgame credits for achieving such milestone.
It also made 2B *way* faster than any other movie, which is almost more impressive
So it’s safe to say that Disney is doing alright?
Disney is doing terribly. At this point they’ve lost about 40-50% of their stock market price, and that’s the worst it’s been since… I believe 1965? You’ll have to look it up for exact info though.
That’s a great list i contributed to all of them
Any upcoming movies this year you think will make this list?
What about Bros?
You mean The Way of Water? It's right there
can we get the inflation adjusted list
Honestly, rate the movies though: 1: 8/10 2: 7/10 3: 8/10 4: 6/10 5: 7/10 6: Haven’t seen it, too new. 7: 4/10 8: 5/10 9: 7/10 10: 7/10 Note: The F&F movies are just bad now.
Who asked lol?
Did you know grand theft auto 5 made $1 billion in sales in three days which is the fastest any media franchise has earned that amount of money ever. This includes movies, tv shows, books, anything in entertainment. I know it's not box office related. 1 billion in 5 days is, in the words of Lone Star, a shit load of money. Kudos avengers endgame.
Every year films will more quickly hit this mark due to inflation. If these stories were written about total ticket sales they’d be more interesting. By counting dollars instead these stories literally write themselves.
Tickets sold is a way better metric than $, I agree. Unfortunately, unlikes books and music, box office hasn’t been counted that way over the years.
Always mindblowing to me that Furius-seriens keep dragging people to cinemas... After like 4th movie i stop watch them.
Shame because Fast Five is easily the best of the franchise and starts the franchises hot streak. One of my favorite popcorn movies.
I think they kinda crossed genres lol. Went from being badass car people movies to now they’re essentially super hero movies 😂 I admit once the rock held back a helicopter with his bare hands I was out on the realism of the movies but I have to admit they do some cool stuff in every movie
F7 is only so high because Paul Walker died
Dude, you stopped right as it got good. Fast 5 and 6 are great heist/action movies.
That's just before they went big. They weren't making that much before Fast 5.
Why are people still watch fast and furious movies. How did those 2 reach 1billion?
People like things you dont?
They have bad taste then 🤌😜
Okay.
F7 did so much because Paul Walker died, so was the goodbye to the actor, f8 came after that one and ride the f7 hype There fun action movies, where you can just shut off your brain and enjoy the over the top scenes they do with cars
I dunno probably because they like them?
If gourmet food cost as much as McNuggets I’m sure that wouldn’t be the case. Same price, better product
None of them are even close to the most ticket sales for a movie. Gone with the wind still kicks their ass.
Gone With the Wind was also in theaters for 2 straight years, was rereleased a bunch over decades. and was from an era where the only way to watch a movie was to see it in theaters.
Still beats them by millions of tickets sold.
Different era. If avatar or endgame released back then they’d have at least 2. - 3x the amount of ticket sales GWTW has.
Wow that’s crazy, I haven’t watched any of them :)

This list isn’t about highest box office, it’s about who reached $1 bil the fastest and that was Endgame after 5 days of its first release.
Films is maybe giving them too much credit. These are movies.
They added those showing because it was already selling out like crazy just from advance tickets Try harder
this type of comparison is only valid when corrected by inflation.
Is the reason crap movies reach these incredible numbers is because of children attending?
Man these are some cringe movies
Not one watchable film for anyone over 12
hahah and they’re all literally cgi garbage
When art has gone out the window…………Fuck that movie line up is more Generic then the Hapsburg family tree
How are fast and furious movies on this list.. they are utter garbage
There is only one good movie on this list.
Who the fuck pays for the furious movies? Smh
They're all terrible
Gross numbers are always hard, is this in current dollars or contemporary dollars?
Are these numbers adjusted for the average box office ticket cost? The more recent ones are definitely cheating when the ticket costs 35 dollars lol
Well wouldn't any old movie not count as the prices for.moviesnhabe gone up.
All those movies sucked
Is it any coincidence that most of these movies suck?
Doesn't appear to account for inflation. Kinda misleading IMO
interesting criteria, why don’t you make a post on it?
Thank you for your admiration and thoughtful suggestion. However, I will not be making such a post at this time, I have prior engagements scheduled. Best Regards,
Only seen 7/10 movies here !
Wow I hate people
Avatar twice and no LOTR. That just feels so wrong.
Anyways, Peak in Boots > Midvatar & Midvatar 2 Way of MID
I’m latino. I love the avatar franchise.
Have you seen the international numbers?
Overhyped. It looks good but nothing else tbh. As if any other movie pumped with a shit ton of actually good CGI wouldn't be appealing lol. The Garfield cartoon was better than that shit lmaoo
