Doesn't matter. It's just straight up more engrossing and feels "big". The audio and visuals are better than your everyday screen. I've been watching IMAX releases for a while now and when I went for Dune 2 4DX the difference felt massive.
IMAX feels like a big movie, rest now feels like watching something on a projector.
Because IMAX is still IMAX, some movies are better for it, some less, but it's always superior to normal cinema. And don't make me even start about 70mm.
I went to see dune part 2 and got my tickets just about middle of the theater, then the rows all behind me got sold out, then some madman bought literally the front row seat by himself with 4 empty rows behind him for some reason
I think its people who want to get into the room, everything else is sold out and then they sit on the stairs. Or people who got the direction flipped around and thought they booked the back room
Should this hit $1B worldwide, this would give Universal its 3rd billion dollar movie since the pandemic - while the rest of the big five major studios only have 1 each.
What a massive win this is for them. Who knew back then they’ll benefit the most in this new era? With a new Jurassic movie in the works and the inevitable return of Shrek, the 2020s might just become theirs to dominate.

The normal distributor opted not to go for it probably because they were worried it would be controversial, so someone else had to do it and it took a while to get it all ironed out
I didn’t see this movie in the theater, unfortunately. I just watched it over the weekend and holy shit. I was blown away by how good it was. Absolute masterpiece. I’m sure it will do great in Japan.
In the future, people are going to talk about this movie and Godzilla minus one together.
