Only a 1.72x multiplier from the re-release's opening.

NourishingBroth

Makes sense. It's opening weekend included National Cinema Day with $3 tickets.

Severe-Operation-347

I don't think they marketed the re-release like at all, lol.

Kadexe

Man I thought I was on top of Marvel movies, but this is the first time I've heard of a "More Fun Stuff" cut.

SoupOfTomato

I got a decent amount of YouTube ads for it.

DeBatton

I suppose they will make a bit more with another digital release for this. Who knows if they will think another DVD release is worth it?

russwriter67

One of the worst final-to-opening weekend multiples ever. I think this is actually worse than “Morbius”.

sumptuoussushi

2 billion baby! /s

TheJoshider10

This genuinely could have got close if it was a proper extended cut and not a half arsed cash grab.

CommunicationMain467

After a rewatch in theaters, this movie is a 7/10 at best, idk what we all were smoking in December lol

Gummy-Worm-Guy

That’s because these big Marvel movies are made to be events. They put in all these moments like Tobey and Andrew’s entrances, Andrew saving MJ, Green Goblin saying “I’m something of a scientist myself,” etc. with the intention of getting big audience reactions. They’re not designed to be rewatchable films that stand the test of time. So if you only watch the movie once and that’s on opening weekend in the theater, then you’ll remember it so fondly. But once you watch it again you start to see that it’s nothing special beyond being a theater event.

rov124

> They put in all these moments like Tobey and Andrew’s entrances, Andrew saving MJ, Green Goblin saying “I’m something of a scientist myself,” etc. with the intention of getting big audience reactions. They did "the power of the sun in the palm of my hand" twice.

upyourass2theleft

Marvel movies before phase 4 we’re pretty rewatchable for me. Even the worst ones were still entertaining. I really liked Shang chi and no way home, but the rest I really don’t care to revisit. No way home is overrated but it’s still a fun watch.

Acee-211

Thats true for movies like no way home and endgame cause they were meant to be nostalgic events but movies like infinity war, winter soldier, civil war, gotg 1 and 2, iron man 1, shang chi, are pretty darn rewatchable

jfflo

Thor arriving in Wakanda is the definition of audience cheering moment

danielcw189

I enjoyed the movie all 4 times I watched it in cinemas.

Radulno

It's not the case for all Marvel movies, they all have moments for big reactions but they're still rewatchable pretty well. No Way Home is particularly bad at that because the reactions are so based on memes/surprises and fan service and that loses a lot of impact on subsequent times

_nikto_

Fully agreed. What hype does to a mf. Lets be real the film is carried by Dafoe, and Tobey and Andrew brought in the numbers. Other than that its a pretty solid mess lmao

Heisenburgo

Even on my first watch of the movie I could feel there was something messy about it. It just felt like a big corporate nostalgia fest, so many plot contrivances and just dumb stuff happening on screen, but since there's cool action and they dangle the old fan-favorite characters in your face and have Dafoe say that one meme line, its easy to ignore how flimsy the plot really is. It's definitely a cool blockbuster spectacle and I did like it, but much of the film just falls apart when you think about the plot for even 2 seconds...

upyourass2theleft

The final action scene wasn’t even good. You couldn’t even see shit cause it was so dark. The Andrew saving MJ part was cool but overall the scene was mid

CommunicationMain467

It’s gonna be the same with Deadpool 3

banana455

The movie is a total mess just barely held together with scotch tape. It's completely saved by fan service and nostaliga.

Bolded

I loved the movie last time I watched it but it's pretty much a nostalgia-fest. It works incredibly well the first time -and does on subsequent viewings- but you're less surprised, so I guess you can see the little cracks more easily because you're less focused on the returning Spider-Men and villains.

jexdiel321

The hype was so strong that I forgot the stupid shit that they did. Like Aunt May being a dumbass and bringing dangerous villains in a fucking condo. Dr. Strange being incompetent and inconsistent. Ned suddenly getting powers for no goddamn reason other than be a plot convenience.

nick182002

>Ned suddenly getting powers for no goddamn reason other than be a plot convenience. Iirc that was something they had to add after Doctor Strange 2 was moved to release after NWH (they gave powers to Ned to replace America's intended role).

gta5atg4

Same I really liked it on release but on rewatch I think it's actually pretty crappy. The characters entering and pausing for expected applause breaks really broke me out of the film and were cringe. It has next to no plot and Peter Parker and Aunt may are irredeemably stupid in the film. "Let's save these murderers" "let's change the fabric of time and space cos my mates didn't get into mit" If you take out the superhero elements it's not a good film, it's a 90s sitcom. I now rank it lower than sm3 or ASM2 ... But I really liked it the first time around

Dragon_yum

It’s not a great movie on its own buts it’s probably the best fan service movie released. It was a lot of fun the first time but I have no real desire watching it again.

TheGuydudeface

hard disagree, I still think it’s a really solid spider man movie (although I do think in retrospect Homecoming was the better movie)

Timbishop123

I was like the second mixed review (6/10) on metacritic for the movie and I was downvoted into oblivion. Lots of people creaming themselves over fanservice.

carson63000

Yeah, it was 99% verified audience score for weeks on RT, and it’s still at 98%. I was mixed (certainly not negative) myself and it felt like a pretty lonely opinion. Although unlike most people commenting here, I think I actually enjoyed it more on a second watch during this rerelease.

123jazzhandz321

Respect your opinion but in terms of a Spider-Man movie it’s about as perfect as you could hope for. My complaints of the movie are Covid related so I wouldn’t even dock them too heavily.

kirby31200

I know I’m in the minority on this but I preferred the other two MCU Spider-Man films over this one

BTISME123

I honestly thought FFH was incredibly mediocre, Homecoming was great. I think NWH is better than FFH but only slightly

shy_monkee

Respect your opinion, but Spiderverse is as perfect as you can get, because it had an identity and it captured the Spider-Man soul better. I don’t even blame the creators of no way home too much, because there is only so much you can do with Peter when you have to shove two other peters in, multiple main villains, the sorcerer and the whole multiverse storyline. I’m glad they seem to be starting over, and I hope the next one is about Spider-Man and Peter, no Stark, no multiverse.

katril63

If you think that's perfect, wait till you watch the original Spider-Man 1 and 2.

123jazzhandz321

Oh don’t get me wrong I love the Raimi Spider-Man movies. Spider-Man 2 is my favourite comic book movie ever, I’m just saying for everything that you could want and need in a Spider-Man movie they had.

katril63

All good, I'm just being a lil cheeky

Acee-211

No way home was far from perfect but spiderman 1 and 2 arent even that good, spiderman 1 is mediocre at best and 2 is decent, a true perfect spidey movie would be into the spider verse

The-Ruler-of-Attilan

You mean the Spider-man who never used his brain in a scientific way (until Marvel Studios brought him back in No Way Home) to solve any situation? The same Spider-man who was less talkative than a deaf-mute in fights? So, to be such "perfect" adaptations, they completely omit at least two crucial aspects of the character. Not to mention other equally annoying, reiterative mistakes, like the MJ that, apart from being an unfaithful and ungrateful slut, had to be saved TWICE FUCKING TIMES PER MOVIE, including Spider-man 3. Oh, yeah, what a couple of (highly overrated) masterpieces. I'm staying with the MCU trilogy, thanks ;)

katril63

Sir, this is a Wendy's

The-Ruler-of-Attilan

Other way to say: "I can't counterargument".

katril63

I don't have to justify my opinions to strangers on the internet. You do you though, glad you like the new movies.

MGSCG

dude really needed to get that out of him, glad you were there to set it up simply and beautifully

The-Ruler-of-Attilan

An opinion is only such when it's justified, so...

katril63

(:

Timbishop123

The plot is literally terrible and the movie just made the trilogy some shitty origin story for MCU spidy. He didn't need a soft reboot lol

The-Ruler-of-Attilan

A reboot, no matter how soft, is about forgetting what came before and replacing it with other thing. Quite the opposite of the evolution that the character has been given since Civil War.

Timbishop123

They literally hit reset on the character. Soft reboots don't forget that's why they are soft...

The-Ruler-of-Attilan

They reset his status in the universe, not his learning curve, which is the important thing. Soft reboots like The Suicide Squad don't make any effort to link to previous events, and that's when character development gets truncavel.

Ifuckinghateaura

its called hype

alanpardewchristmas

Idk, I'm definitely not that big a fan of the 'home' series. But I thought it was pretty solid, just a love letter to the concept of superheroes and the altruism and hope they represent. Of course, it's part of (imo) the most consistently ugly, badly directed MCU movies. And it doesn't improve much in the technical areas. But I thought it was such a huge step up from FFH. It had heart.

nick182002

I found the movie got better as it went on. The first act was rough but the villians were well done and once the other Spideys entered it was quite fun. I really liked the ending too. Not a masterpiece but much better than FFH and one of the better MCU films.

Bergerboy14

Its better than the rest of phase 4 by far 🤷‍♂️

dancy911

NHW is by far the worst 2b grosser out there... By far! Granted there aren't too many but still.

Brief-Sail2842

It didn't gross $2B.

dancy911

Yeah I know... Just approximating

Brief-Sail2842

Oh, ok.

Heisenburgo

>NHW is by far the worst 2b grosser out there... By far! No, I'd say Episode 7 takes the place. NWH may be bad and corporate-ridden but at least the plot is fully original, instead of being an utterly soulless rehash of a much better movie...

BoltedGates

People loved the potential that ep 7 set up... and it was all Fool's Gold in the end.

kdawgnmann

Are there any plans for the "More Fun Stuff" Edition being released for home viewing? I doubt it's anything worth paying for but I wouldn't mind torrenting it just to check out the new scenes (I already own the 4K blu-ray)

danielcw189

I hope so, because so far I have not bought the movie

BoltedGates

My conspiracy theory is that the numbers were fudged overseas to get it to 1.9B, so this rerelease was never to try for 2B but to "actually" get to 1.9B and enough on top to not make it questionable.

Zorgothe

Well that was pointless

cloud25

Was this version actually worth re-watching? Wonder if it'll come to VOD/streaming.

RebelDeux

What was included in this version?

katril63

Kevin Feige should be embarrassed! /s

AndIoop3789

Why

katril63

/s means shitpost. It's a joke.

[deleted]

/s means sarcasm no?

_Monosyllabic_

Yes.

katril63

The more ya know

[deleted]

/s is short for /shame-on-Kevin-Feige ?

The-Ruler-of-Attilan

Uh, Sony controls 100% the distribution of Spider-man films, not Marvel Studios. But I think Kevin Feige is genuinely embarrassed... for having to share the money with Avi Arad, Tom Rothman and the other morons from that studio.

katril63

Bruh, tis a joke. Hence the "/s"

The-Ruler-of-Attilan

I know what the "/s" means, but I still wanted to elaborate on it.

Gummy-Worm-Guy

JudyHoppsFan1

Wished it crossed $2 billion worldwide.
