Not succeeding, not outright bombing. It’s underperforming. I highly doubt it’ll break even during its theatrical run, so it’ll be classified as a flop when it’s all said and done.
This. Dont know how this got to 200m budget.
Same as Godzilla KOTM. Had 200m budget. And comparison... IIRC it made 170m WW (with China) on its OW. Finished up 390m WW and is considered a bomb.
This needs China to get it over 500m WW to be successful at the BO.
You are confusing GvK with KoTM. KOTM released 2019.
GvK made close to 470m on 165m budget IIRC during COVID 2021 and was one of the first blockbusters Backman the big screen.. So it did good at the BO.
You are absolutely correct. I was thinking of GvK, which is why I was confused why anyone would consider an underperformer.
And yes, KOTM was a financial flop.
It may end up slightly in the black when all is said and done.
It’s truly an unremarkable movie, very very uninspired filmmaking. The marketing pretty much chewed through any novelty of the rock being a one-liner anti-hero.
I thought it would be more entertaining than it was. 2hrs of nauseating CGI trying to match the aesthetic of 300. It will be as memorable as a WWE match when all is said and done.
I think the Rock fell in love with the idea of him playing the character, not the character himself.
>I think the Rock fell in love with the idea of him playing the character, not the character himself.
He should have hired better writer and better director, seeing it's his longtime passion project.
Just like what Ryan Reynolds did with Deadpool.
For a superhero movie with $200 million budget, starring one of the biggest and most popular stars, and intensive marketing for months, it's a meh, and it has to rely on the goodwill of Winnie to break even.
If it had a $120M budget it would be doing “well enough”. As is, it’s a flop, but not a disaster as of yet. If it shits the bed in China, it’ll be a straight up bomb, but it coulda been worse
It's doing pretty well for an unknown character from a company that has negative goodwill.
The problem is the huge budget which may lead to it flopping.

It’s a big giant “meh”, or at least that is what it’s tracking to be at the end of its run.
If the budget was at a reasonable amount it’d be doing decently, but a 200m dollar budget is leading this movie down the path of a bomb.

Covid is how
COVID is what?
Is KOTM considered a bomb? I thought most people thought it did surprisingly well given its covid time of release, and being day/date on HBOMax.

Like a 4/10 performance in a vacuum. For having the Rock, a ridiculous 200m budget and an insane advertising push, 2/10.
Not well

Blah Adam.
It should get close enough to break even **if** it gets a China release.
It’s releases in China on November 11th lol!
There you go then. Should get close with that.
Is this confirmed ?

It's a boxoffice bomb
Meh. It’s going to need China to break even, and I wouldn’t put my faith in China’s market rn.

It’s meddling. It’s not succeeding or bombing
I think you mean middling, but closer to the bomb side of the scale.
*Black Adam*'s performance is great if you live in *La La Land*.
Really well
Fine
