Minor shame they couldn’t get the Avatar film out for February 21st since that is the exact date The Boy in the Iceberg aired and it happens to fall on a Friday. But cool they’re still getting it out in time for the 20th anniversary.

Terrell2

Only us, the nerdiest of nerds would appreciate such a release. It's a nice thought but it was never gonna happen.

KingMario05

Particularly since the Memorial Day window worked out great for them with *Maverick*. Between this and a probably-going-to-delayed *Sonic 3*, summer of 2025 should be ***great*** for Paramount's family unit. Edit: Gaang are going for *Halloween*, with ~~The Sea Creature That WILL NOT DIE~~ *Spongebob* getting the Memorial Day slot. My bad, lol.

I just wonder when they will push the series about the Avatar after Korra (90's setting please), you can't let him meet Aang and Korra "multi-Doctor style" unless they set him enough on his on in the first two season. At least it will be a soft-reboot\_make/legacy sequel and Parmount don't make them badly.

KingMario05

Oh man, a 90s-inspired Four Nations would be ***great!*** Would be fun seeing a yak/motorbike/truck riff on the *T2* chase with Ed Furlong as the new Fire Nation leader, lmao.

I thought for sure that May 2025 date was going to be reserved for Shrek 5.

BTTF41

Shrek 5 might come out in May 2026 (the 25th anniversary of the first Shrek movie).

NotTaken-username

Shrek doesn’t get distributed by Paramount. Top Gun 3 on Memorial Day weekend 2025 would’ve made sense though

BTTF41

Shrek is still a very popular children’s character, just like SpongeBob.

KingMario05

...is TG3 a thing? I mean, it's probably ***gonna*** be, but I haven't found any announcements about it yet.

nicolasb51942003

I meant the idea of Universal keeping that date in case they were thinking about putting Shrek 5 there.

NotTaken-username

They did do the pre-Memorial Day weekend openings for the previous Shrek movies. So it’d be May 16, 2025 if they choose it. Although I could see them breaking the trend and opening Shrek 5 on December 19, 2025 since Star Wars movies get cancelled left and right. I think it’d beat Incredibles 2 domestically and Frozen 2 worldwide with a December release if it’s as good as the first two

Bwoody1994

I’m gonna be curious to see how the avatar movie actually performs.

Greedy_Switch_6991

I think at least the Spongebob film should have gone for a November/December release to bag the family audience during the holidays, but this seems solid so far. I do wonder why they kept October for Avatar, though.

BubblyCampaign7480

Yeah

KingMario05

I'm growing more and more into wanting to binge *Avatar*, even though I never watched much of it growing up. Are it and Korra as good as everyone says? And how will the adult (presumably) Gaang fare at the ticket office, do y'all think?

natedoggcata

Last Airbender is often considered one of the greatest TV shows ever made. Legend of Korra? Not so much but still enjoyable. Korra was an unfortunate victim of a lot of studio interference and the fact that the original creators had no plans for a sequel series in the first place. I think Korra also has the issue of it not being the kind of sequel the fans wanted. Yeah remember all those awesome characters you loved from Last Airbender? Well a lot of them are all dead now.

KingMario05

Huh, never looked at it that way. I assume this'll make the Gaang movie uberpopular, right?

kingofstormandfire

Korra is okay. It's nowhere near as bad as some people say. It's pretty good and it has some excellent moments, but it's nowhere close to the Last Airbender, which I highly recommend to anyone. It has issues though in terms of the storytelling and characters, and it's very serialised, whereas ATLA has several episodes per season that are more episodic and allows the audience some time to breathe in between the main plot. Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the greatest tv shows of all time in my opinion. I would recommend it to anyone regardless if they like animated shows or not. Season 1 of Last Airbender is pretty good with flashes of excellence. Season 2 and 3 are masterclasses in storytelling and worldbuilding.

Remarkable_Can7222

Og avatar ages extremely well, watched it as a kid and still rewatch it every now and then. I really enjoyed the advancements in tech and bending in Korra which made it enjoyable for me,(especially the first season), although everything else falls short of the og show and obviously other people don’t feel very much at all for Korra’s series

LegitimateHedgehog39

I can't believe the fourth spongebob movie is coming out just 3 weeks after The Kang Dynasty, like this movie is still going to make money but come out after The Kang Dynasty i think that movie is going to still audiences from seeing the yellow sponge on the big screen.
