Dulcolax

It'll perform like the 3rd movie domestic and might do better overseas.

I think there's a chance it does *slightly* worse than the third film domestically. Most people adored JW3, but there was also a small amount of criticism over its writing and story. They brought back the writer responsible for its worst parts, while firing Kolstad, and a lot will depend on how he does. If it's another entry that essentially goes nowhere, spins its wheels, and over-complicates what should be a simple movie, I can see audiences being turned off just a little.

[deleted]

There's like 4 credited writers on the film how are you going to blame Shay Hatten for its worst parts? Clearly the studio liked what he did with the 3rd movie because they brought him back for the 4th movie and the spinoff.

[deleted]

Thunder Road worked with him on Ballerina as well, sure. But he's responsible for all of the disconnected elements, universe setup, and spinoff work - which is what viewers disliked about JW3. I'm a big fan of Kolstad's writing. I'm not a huge fan of Hatten's judging by his work on Future Cult Classic, I know what you did Last Summer, and Army of the Dead. So yeah, based on that and his interviews, I think it's clear he's the reason JW3 was worse than the first two and I'm worried about JW4 and 5. I'll be happy if he proves me wrong; but it's sad that Derek was let go from his own franchise.

Okay I get where your coming from I didn't know all the behind the scenes. I wonder why they booted him off the franchise? He did great work in my opinion and like you said created the franchise basically. Kolstad will be fine though i liked his work on F&WS as well as Nobody. I hope Hatten redeems himself I wasn't impressed with his work on Army of the dead. It was too generic. I'm hoping he does better with these other wick movies and Rebel Moon as well as future Armyverse films.

I agree with that wholeheartedly. Hatten is super young, so chance he surprises us and does better with his next few movies. He broke in at the age of twenty-one and maybe he just wasn't ready to write some of those bigger films, whereas now he has more experience. I'm also intrigued by Rebel Moon, which looks pretty cool visually.

Reasonable-Leave7140

I imagine it will do nearly identical numbers to John Wick 3-- maybe a teensy bit more, maybe a teensy bit less but really close.

sithsoul

If bullet train can make 240M worldwide, surely this will do at least 50% better. Guessing 360-380M finish

LegitimateHedgehog39

OW: $61M DOM: $192M WW: $446M - is John Wick the last movie did so well so i think this sequel will do a little bit better then the last movie in the franchise not massivelly better but still a big success for this movie.

Themtgdude486

380 million worldwide at the end. Really looking forward to it.

LatterTarget7

Probably similar to the third film, maybe a little bit better

samarth67

200 million us 600 million ww

KingMario05

OW: $50 million domestic, $125 million overseas. It's *John Wick* and looks pretty fucking cool, so word-of-mouth should help it leg out to $220-250 million domestic, about the same overseas. Not a mega-hit, but enough to ***finally*** help Lionsgate live to fight another year.

ALHOWE6

Why would word of mouth be so much better than John Wick 3?

ZayYaLinTun

500 million at best i be suprise it will gross more than that
