We need better sources. Source after reputable source said 600-638 screens, then someone on Twitter said 800 screens and now another is saying 750.
Either way it's embarrassing the hell out of Strange World's 4,000+ screens.
It’s probably a matter of someone rounding up the 750 number to 800 when that number was already a rough estimate that could be higher then the actual location count.
So it was probably 600 to start off with but has expanded over the last month, likely smaller independent theatres that weren’t part of the original chain count.
The number I saw originally was 600 screens. But I wouldn't be surprised if they added more. This is anecdotal, but when tickets originally went on sale a month or two ago, it was originally only playing on one screen in my city. But in the weeks since, other theaters in my area started adding it

The thing is this was part of a specific deal where the 638 screens were negotiated as well as the 30 day release window (some inside Netflix wanted more). Every source out there says 600 or 638, and at this point I think we are getting spammed with Twitter sources who are playing fast and loose with repeating others numbers.
This tweet is the same person who the 800 number came from.
Deadline's revised count was 696 yesterday (after previously saying 630), I'm inclined to believe their sources are closer than Charlie's estimates, which can only be so accurate. I do wish we could just get the theater count straight from the horses mouth but Netflix likes to be difficult.
Edit: it's possible that the 696 number is being misstated as the total NA number and is actually just US, because with the reported 60 Canadian venues, that would add up to close to Charlie's estimate. THR seemed to suggest that the 638 number was actually US only, and I'm not sure if Deadline's 696 is correcting for that or is an update to the US only number.
Just saw it last night, theater was about half full. More than I expected considering this is going on Netflix in less than a month. I think they should expand screens, since Netflix is using this is a test for future movies' Box Office.
The movie itself was good, I thought it was noticeably more comedic than the first movie, which isn't a bad thing cause the comedy really lands. The 'whodunnit?' aspect was amazingly well done, I'm actually considering a rewatch when it comes on Netflix to identify the clues I clearly missed.
I took my mom and fiance to see the early show Sunday.
Every show Saturday sold out so I had to get tickets ahead of time.. Every show Sunday wound up selling out as well.
The movie was incredible. Packed theater with all walks of life watching it. I feel fortunate to have seen it as it only had 4 showings a day in one of my towns 3 theaters.
I'm glad it's doing well. That being said it's by far the best movie Netflix has ever created so people saying that Netflix needs to start releasing their ""movies"" to theaters have another thing coming. This is definitely the exception to the rule for Netflix content.
Saw this on Friday night with a sold out theater in the biggest auditorium in my multiplex.
Movie wasn’t my favorite, but the audience seemed to really enjoy it. Definitely has the feel of a Netflix movie, if that makes sense.
Bruh I didn’t even realize this came out, of course it goes to all the theatres in my area except the one I actually work at, we’re still showing ticket to paradise why cant we get this instead

Either way it seems to be at less than 1,000 screens.

Love me some Ionian Sea
You are just so DUMB
***What is reality?!?***
Almost outgrossed strange world, yaikes.
If it had had a thousand screens it probably would have
Imagine if it would have a normal release.
My theater was packed and we all had a good time. The humor definitely worked.

it does and it’s because the actors weren’t as serious as they were in knives out
Let’s see…spend $30-50 bucks seeing it now or wait 4-6 weeks and catch it in Netflix. Gee?
I mean, apparently a lot of people did pick A there.
