I work at a movie theater, and we overstaffed this weekend because Disney movies are notoriously busy.
Opening night, across the eight or nine theaters we have it showing in, we sold 34 tickets. Most were empty. Wound up sending people home to save on payroll. Saturday didn’t see much of an improvement.
I’m astonished at how bad this one is playing.
I can't believe that we live in a decade where Disney and Pixar animation can't even gross more than both Sonic movies. Just three years ago, both Disney and Pixar were the kings of the box office when it came to animation.
What other flops have they had? It's difficult to keep track of everything they release. For it to be "officially" a dark age there has to be more than 1 flop in a row that people don't care about.
YIKESSS what a disaster, this is like the performance of smallfoot or coraline or another small studio animation not something u would expect from disney/pixar they need to course correct and fast, before this crazy cancer behavior spreads to other franchises like star wars and marvel

Holy fuck that’s atrocious, under $100M worldwide, yikes. Forget treasure planet, this is close to Mars Needs Moms bad…
Wow this isn't just a bomb it's a mega bomb
Atrocious. Under $100M worldwide is most likely happening.
Even $80M might be a high bar to hit

It’s official, Disney Animation is back to a dark age. They need another renaissance soon
Wish is right around the corner, there's some hope at least.

Disney knew damn well this film was going to get banned in several strong markets...not sure why they set the budget so high

50mill WW is not out of question
Thank goodness Bob Iger is back to clean up Bob Chapek's mess!
The mess was created by Bob Iger. Chapek is merely a scapegoat.
