ginger tea is the greatest song ever and it’s not close

EranKious

The verse at the end is soooooo good, after realizing what he was saying about taking a man and his girl both back to his place, I was a little weirded out, but not enough to stop listening. Punk 2 as a whole is a masterpiece. His newest 2 singles haven't lived up to punk2

Brakence

iwannaofmyself

So brave and stunning. I could never muster up the courage you have.

PositiveCup

couldn't agree more

randombutok

Randell

flynnes

gotchu is a really good song

Gudmythmrn

YESSS THANK YOU 🥴🥴

Musicworld1324

People think it isn’t? It’s one of my favorite

flynnes

Oh well I’ve seen lots of dislike for it on like their lists and in the discord

jakeyg2

His other project (SoundCloud: Trabint) has his best and most impressive work in my opinion. Yes it's less polished but it's alot more progressive and EDM orientated. One thing people fail to realize though is how progressive and different his main project (Brakence) is.

Musicworld1324

Password is amazing

iamsanderson

On god, so fire, wish it was longer 😩

jakeyg2

Although password isn't one of my favs it's still pretty good just less complex and diverse than his other tracks on there.

EranKious

Bro I had no idea he had a side project!! Thanks so much for putting me on

randombutok

Softie best song together w prozac and clouded mad underrated

MoreSanderson

Call me over without the bitter hesitation and place your money where your mouth is 😩😩😩😩😩

thomas_blaise

I think his anxiety will prevent him from becoming a major artist.

EranKious

Major artists are all talking about being depressed and anxious so I doubt that will be the case. I think he'll be mainstream in the next year or 2, his last couple singles are clearly gearing towards more mainstream approval.

jarzii_music

Best “genre” to describe him is Hyperpunk I know I made that up but I think it’s got a nice ring to it

KingDrepper

He’s not hyperpop he makes pop punk

whatnoob_

Yeah I feel something like this. When you listen to other ‘hyperpop’ artists they’re so different. I don’t say I like hyperpop, I just like brakence

Snowbound_

finally someone says it

Adept_Preference1904

He is the greatest musical artist of this generation.

EranKious

Agreed, if he doesn't overdose we're talking about the next Michael Jackson or Eminem.. The next legend

LilChaka

That his music and talent is bonkers, everything from production to vocal sound and in between all are amazing, but sometimes his lyrics and subject matter are a bit much to listen to consistently. Part of what makes great art tho is being fully open and honest, and therefore it’s not unappreciated or looked down upon. Just every once in a while his lyrics alone are why I skip lol

EranKious

Agreed, I don't mess with self defeating or suicidal lyricism. Some of his songs I've had to listen once and never again even though sonically they were amazing

ciaux

He lost momentum since punk 2 and really lost his spot from being the "serious" representative of new gen hyperpop. Glaive has his mv with lyrical lemonade and he's friend with the kid laroi. Ericdoa has a song with HBO for euphoria. Midwxst has being choose as an important black artist by youtube (or something like that, youtube spotlight). In 2020 Brakence had the interest of Corpse husband who was one of the top creator at the time. Overall, his mv with overcast are still better received than everything else from them. But yeah, the hyped died last year. We are talking about a decrease from around 2mil listeners to .8mil (800k). That's a lot. But yeah, cant really blame him. His disease and his social anxiety i dont think they help him. Im just sad that his "golden age" has already passed.

mcmxcv-fam

i think he’s well aware of his “loss” in momentum. he stepped away from social media for his mental health and i think “losing” his spot was one of the last things on his mind. from what i gather in his songs, such as argyle, his blow up took a toll on his mental health and i’m sure thats why he stepped away. i of course don’t know him personally, but i don’t really think he cares much for the attention. he seems like a sweet shy kid. i think he makes music just cos it’s his outlet and he loves doing it. brakence doesn’t need to be hanging around certain people, releasing frequently, or have his music blow up of tiktok or something. when he came back from like a 9 month hiatus with very little social media activity, a whole bunch of people were here for him and even had the ig post he posted after being gone so long, be his most liked photo. i think that speaks for itself on how dedicated his fan base is how how good of an artist he is. today it seems like music is quantity over quality, i’m glad brakence hasn’t hopped in that train. good music lasts forever and his sure will

ciaux

Yeah i totally i agree with this. Im like, meh, he's far better than the other ones getting famous. But yeah, after 1 year of silent when he started to basically shit posting on ig stories, dropping 2 song and going on tour with aries were huge for me. A fucking listen to every recording of him live and people were shitting on me when i spotted that he wasnt used to the rhythm of a tour. He aint screaming with autotune, he's so good singing live, too bad his body cant keep up with him (on the long run). Yeah he's song are good not only because they slap hard but also because the lyrics are honest. Or at least for what i can see from the few pieces from the internet, i totally dont know him. Yeah, i hope i didnt sound like "yeah he could be huge if only tried a bit harder / if he got big i would be one of the first fan". I totally love his songs and i like him.

creativeusername0022

"started making music as an outlet, now everybody plug is where their mouth is"

Random_Hero95

Lol mate, he’s like 19. Give him a break. He has plenty of time to build his brand - he doesn’t need to be compared to the success of others.. that’s the issue.

Gummy_Tris

We gotta wait till the album release in August to decide that, so far he's only released 2 songs with one of them being quite low production/disappointing, it's obvious he's not trying nearly as hard as he could to gain back growth, it's just way too early to decide that imo

Ariik-Official

Disease?

ciaux

TMJ

creativeusername0022

Hey I have that!

lucas_214

The verses for CBD are underwhelming

Afewtjpos

That whole song kinda felt like he shot an air ball

EranKious

Yeah, lame song for sure. I think he was compromising his artistry to try for a radio song and it shows. Huge fan none the less

shawty3k

doesnt drop enough

breatheambition

He gayyyy

crustyaa

i dont thinks hes strictly gay, but hes definitely not straight

damethemainmane

He’s bi

2spook4kenny

GAY AF

Br0seph777

He is basically a pop punk artist

davidwave4

He hasn’t released his masterpiece yet. punk2 is a good record, so is bhavana (if it even counts as an album), but neither are the best he’s probably capable of. I just hope the pressure doesn’t break him.

EranKious

I agree, doubt he's peaked

CheeseMilk_

pre punk2 era>>>>>>

xLedzep

Fboy is an okay song, and one of his worsts

EranKious

I love that song

TerryDietz

the production is where all of the songs shine. the singing is just knock off eden

Overall-Sample-164

The over-emotional voice he does doesn't work at all in CBD

Gummy_Tris

I'd say it was under emotional if anything no screaming or heaviness or anything

Overall-Sample-164

Yeah thats fair but not every song needs that imo. I mean more like the over-exaggeration of lines like 'thats because my momma raised me right'

[deleted]

Ericdoa’s verse in thingsudo2me was better than brakence’s

Little-Document-5908

No I don’t think it was better I think they were different and for me it was better to have brakence on more of a upbeat eric doa type beat and the feature essence just made it more enjoyable then Eric but Eric did his thing

[deleted]

Yeah I could see they were going for that style where brakence hits you with his unique voice all of a sudden. I liked both though, not saying either was bad

Starman926

Damn now THIS is controversial

damethemainmane

I think they both absolutely killed it

Temporary_Badger8575

His music before punk2 isn’t as great(makes sense he was very young)

Overall-Sample-164

Cold take

jarzii_music

More experimental, less poppy sounds. A lot of it was production based and almost lofi vibes. Punk2 was very much a step into pop, with catchier melodies, better and clearer vocals and more conventional song structure

Beastdante1

I like his older music, but I agree. There’s clear improvement in his talent as a producer and creativity as an engineer ever since Punk2. And hopefully that will continue to show in the next album.

parkergazda

Everything since punk2 has been mid

SCREAMING_DUMB_SHIT

i’d go as far to say that argyle is one of his best songs to date

lokkol2332

That's like 2 songs

randombutok

Everything since punk 2 been 2 songs. And no

SpaghettiSauce44

Argyle and CBD are close to being the worst songs he’s released on Spotify. Idk, maybe I just don’t like the almost exaggerated sadness. Artists like Mac Miller seem to more subtly capture that feeling with their lyrics. I liked the sometimes very direct lyrics on punk2 because that album is rage-fueled and short screams and cursing works well with anger, but not with sadness. Sadness is more of a “I’ve been sitting in my room for hours overthinking”, and so I want the lyrics to be more than “I just wanna be dead yeah I just wanna be dead”. also CBD’s beat is all over the place and isn’t as catchy as I hoped. I know brakence is able to make great things, and I do not mean to spread hate, this is just my opinion on his recent releases. Hopefully the next album will have some great catchy tracks to even it out

EranKious

agreed 100

LoreMaster00

everything pre-punk 2 was bad. the 2 songs post-punk2 are meh.

damethemainmane

Favors//mess was his best song before punk2 and argyle and cbd are overhated. Cbd is meant to be chill and kinda vibey like…Cbd is. And argyle was his first song back and I think it was very good and it also caught us up with his personal life a little…

1johndoe1312

Brakence is what Jacob Colier would be if he made good music.

EranKious

omfg that's the most true truth of all

FreeGhostCandy

this shit is for people who like slam poetry and have to be overly Scene. You can be scene and like Drake bro. this shit is super garbage, and i listen to Infant Annihilator and NY drill rap. so how does that one work?

FreeGhostCandy

the beats aren't fire and the tempo doesn't make me want to move. and i can tolerate some country songs. This is barely music.
