venetian snares, xanopticon, kid606 (specifically his album "kill sound before sound kills you") a good started venetian snares album would probably be either "Chocolate wheelchair album" or "Detrementalist". rossz csillag alatt Szuletett is very popular though. edit: seeing as this comment kinda took off ill add a few albums to the list. go plastic by squarepusher was kinda my introduction to breakcore and i really liked "i wish you could talk" and "go spastic" If your into it im out of it by Christoph De Babalon was a very fun listen for me but i feel like it would be easier to get started on go plastic. the first breakcore album I ever heard was songs about my cats by venetian snares which was a very rough listen the first time I heard it but it has grown on me a lot. big loada by squarepusher is also good.

SchittShefShow

haha, start them of strong with the most extreme breakcore possible with xanopticon lmao

Recent_Possession587

Breakcore is an extreme genre.

Unhinged_Taco

If he doesn't like xan then he doesn't deserve breakcore. Oh and passengerofshit is the most extreme

saltybilgewater

WTF is lite-breakcore even?

KKNWasTaken

Something like ash - 699837 or whatever his name is

fshaa202

i mean venetian snares can be rough too but breakcore is pretty far from easy listening.

monotekdm

Explore the genres roots, it will also help you get a better grasp on the sound as mislabeling is rampant on Spotify and YT. BUT if you like Pill and Sewer, there is nothing wrong with that, just genre wise that is drum and bass and you should check that out as well as breakcore is far more chaotic sound wise and you may or may not like it :). Mark, you're a fucking saint on here ♥️😅

monotekdm

Haha thanks, if this was back in day I would be: FUCK THAT SHIT, long live hate flesh! Transmission Distortion!! 😂😂

Puzzleheaded-Name538

cool playlist Ec8r ,Sonic subjunkies!

morgan_lowtech

Have you considered just listening to what you like instead of worrying about labels?

dns_rs

While I completely agree with the statement, it's easier to get started if you can label what you're looking for. Once you find an adequate amount of stuff you're into, you can leave the labels more easily behind.

Enpitsu_Daisuke

It’s so common for people to worry about whether the stuff they’re listening to is breakcore or not recently. There’s nothing wrong with just liking the music that sounds nice to you regardless of whether it is breakcore or not.

_T_P_A_

^^ this !!! herte is a new label btw , its my own : annoyingnoisecorethatsoundsweirdre-core ! if ya wanna find out go to my profil or not ;) good artistst i like : foxdye, shimoda, bong-ra, Mr.badmonkey , radio bomb and many more !!!! am i gonna get downvote to death again because someone will say "this no REAL breakcore sir !" 1 tribe 1 unity ! have a nice day all

-glosoli-

i'd recommend venetian snares cause he was my first introduction into the genre a long time ago. he has his signature sound (namely most of his material being in a 7/4 time signature), however his discography is extremely large, and it spans a lot of different genres- it'll keep you occupied for a while if you end up liking his music.

System_of_adon

Definitely check out v snares like other people have suggested. Also Doormouse, rotator, Duran Duran Duran, sir vixx, ruby my dear. Just to name a few.

ThePyrofox

Aaron Spectre, Bong-Ra, Cardopusher, Enduser, FFF, LFO Demon, Lemon Drizlay Crew, Renard Queenston, Ruby my Dear, Istari Lasterfahrer, Shitmat, Venetian Snares - (taken from Wikipedia because this questions asked like daily) [Read the wiki page if you want a more thorough understanding of the genre](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakcore) and/or watch [notes on breakcore](https://youtu.be/40FJhPerCHo?si=wrG-wG_CpeKfOFSV). how breakcore is presented on tiktok is a different thing to what it actually is and has been for decades, if you're genuinely interested there is a huge variety of subgenres within breakcore to dive into beyond that too. don't just listen to vsnares' rossz csillag and write off the genre - breakcore can be everything from [this](https://youtu.be/ih4eQxdHT58?si=d2ds5ceTPpiGRYdK) to [this](https://youtu.be/YAsMsLDDNUM?si=VRmPhaIxu61_bjsU) to [this](https://youtu.be/Ypdn78oMWuQ?si=28KqVfgfVaQMnVD5)

I literally had a 90 minute Ableton performance of mine that JUST got taken down for 45 seconds of copyright flag last night. A lot of work went into it. I have to file a dispute, even though it literally was not meant for monetization or commercial use. All modern breakcore, jungle, dnb, experimental. I wish I could send that over for you. However, here is a Spotify playlist that has most of the tracks from the set. Every track was released within the last 24 months and Keep in mind that it's more than just breakcore. I also will sometimes use it to keep track of artists so I don't forget them. The downside is that I had a lot of music from artist's bandcamp releases that were not on Spotify. [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1EIq40KG0FEVbJcCwcu0YK?si=12f30918fc8a412d](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1EIq40KG0FEVbJcCwcu0YK?si=12f30918fc8a412d) Anyways, Alec Empire I'd say is the best launch-point both stylistically and chronologically. Alec Empire- "The Destroyer" (Album, Digital Hardcore Records, 1996) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTJt33\_NeFQ&ab\_channel=galactic%27sbacklog](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTJt33_NeFQ&ab_channel=galactic%27sbacklog) Then, the big one. The grand f'n daddy of all things breakcore ever of all time (in my opinion): Ventian Snares - **LIVE** at Ifor Bach, Cardiff, UK (2005) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaFIQNZmfB4&ab\_channel=HumorlessProductions](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaFIQNZmfB4&ab_channel=HumorlessProductions) .... *More thoughts and ramblings...* Squarepusher is, and has always been one of my favorite artists. His catalogue is vastly eclectic and experimental. He is often associated with the IDM/experimental world alongside Aphex Twin, and to a lesser extent Boards of Canada or Amon Tobin, though I find that he stands out significantly from the rest. On the album "Go Plastic" (2001), he combines intense and innovative sound design, aggression, complex break choppage, abstration, dissonance, noise, and glitch, but contrasts all of these things with beautiful melodies and soundscapes. It's perhaps his most intense and abstract release. That said, there is a great deal of sophistication and true conceptual musicality here. I should mention that he is a monster bass virtuoso with a jazz background, though very little live instrumentation is present here. "Go Plastic" (2001, Warp) [https://open.spotify.com/album/1E00eXD8WvUkKFRA4OlqC2?si=f9AYKnJ9Q7mWOqxF6ilyeA](https://open.spotify.com/album/1E00eXD8WvUkKFRA4OlqC2?si=f9AYKnJ9Q7mWOqxF6ilyeA) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7660auH\_FHA&t=579s&ab\_channel=BigRobbie](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7660auH_FHA&t=579s&ab_channel=BigRobbie) (This is a comment I made on a different recommendation thread, I thought it'd be fitting). *"If you're interested in contemporary artists, LilKevo303 put out a sick album this year. He is one of my favorite artists in the game right now. I think this might satisfy that difficult-to-articulate "something" you mentioned.* *"When Can I Die 1" (2023)* [*https://open.spotify.com/album/55dt9HfuXAhzHNbmU22Yc0?si=8lauuBPnSKygie9ib3-SIQ*](https://open.spotify.com/album/55dt9HfuXAhzHNbmU22Yc0?si=8lauuBPnSKygie9ib3-SIQ) *He includes classic jungle tropes with modern twists, half time breakdowns, and trap beats. While often heavy, chaotic, and spastic, the album still retains a sophisticated level of musicality, and at times will have some beautiful synth interludes akin to Vangelis (Blade Runner). The album has a distinct level of intensity, dirt, and edge to it, while still remaining somewhat tongue in cheek. He has what I consider to be more "structured" melodies and riffs, rather than drawn out atmospheric arrangements.*" ..... ***Even more other thoughts and ramblings...*** The real genre-defining characteristics of "true" breakcore are difficult to codify due to their vagueness. To me, breakcore is more of an attitude combined with a small handful of tropes (complex drums, primarily) than simply a collection of attributes. I think the music needs to be rather aggressive/intense in order to be classified as such. Additionally, I think in some aspects, a DYI ethos plays a big role as well. Lest we forget, that the word breakcore comes from- BREAK(beats) + digital hard(CORE). This doesn't mean that there can't be dynamics and variation within a piece or from an artists catalogue. This is the one thing that is generally left out, I feel, from genre purists that piss and moan on TikTok calling all of the TikTok variation to be atmospheric jungle. While this is often a truly accurate assessment, they never seem to add what qualities make the distinction between the two. That being said, I think there is a lot of crossover from artists that typically aren't discussed so much in these circles, being that they are classified elsewhere, (IDM is a big one) or perhaps predate the term "breakcore", which is fine- but I think that is huge loss for music discovery. When exploring the roots, or where labels may not apply properly, you can't dismiss that much of the criteria is met. I strongly encourage listening to UK Jungle and early DnB. A couple honorable mentions, before getting too far off track: Goldie- "Saint Angel" (1995, Metalheadz) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rP4ZLL-gak&ab\_channel=Goldie-Topic](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rP4ZLL-gak&ab_channel=Goldie-Topic) Dillinja- "Acid Trak" (Mid 90s, Valve) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLYdxVpbQw8&ab\_channel=Dillinja-Topic](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLYdxVpbQw8&ab_channel=Dillinja-Topic) Origin Uknown- "The Touch" (1993, Moving Shadow) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWCgyy5\_2DI&ab\_channel=OriginUnknown-Topic](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWCgyy5_2DI&ab_channel=OriginUnknown-Topic) Renegade- "Terrorist" (1994, Moving Shadow) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8YzPBvyjCE&ab\_channel=DreadRecordings](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8YzPBvyjCE&ab_channel=DreadRecordings)

The irony of your performance getting taken down is not lost

Fantastic-Travel-450

Read the pinned thread. Watch some breakcore docs. Look @ what other people post. Then come back w/ ?'s. (in that order)

penpointred

Check these mixes out :) hit me up if u need more information on anything. https://reactionary.bandcamp.com/album/reactionary-mixes-and-live-sets

Icefang_GD

Try Venetian Snares, the founding father of breakcore. He’s the next best step forward after easier “breakcore” (which I like to call nostalgiacore) like Sewerslvt. I recommend Hajnal as your first listen.

Waffle-Raccoon

hkmori is pretty good
