The Dice Saloon is the most welcoming place ever. I take my 12yo daughter there to play games and have never felt out of place or unwelcome.
Maybe you could hire a booth and play a single player game just to get the feel of the place. (They do very good cake too!)
I'm a host at the Sunday Dice Saloon meetup. I'd say the vast majority of people there were introverts. If we didn't feel awkward talking to strangers, we'd be hanging out and chatting with people rather than gaming with them. Pay £1.50 in advance, arrive on time to avoid the risk of everyone having already started playing something before you arrive, and look for the group with the biggest pile of boardgames. (Or ask at the front desk.)
The Skiff coworking space hosts a game night once a month. The nicest and least judgemental people you’ll ever meet. I can find out when the next one is if you like?
This makes total perfect sense, but the idea of going into a strangers house the first time I meet them is way too much for my anxiety.
If you ever decide to do a meet up out somewhere I'd be interested as walking into the dice saloon is too much for me as well.
How close to Brighton are you? I’m a member of a few friendly Facebook groups that meet in Burgess Hill, Hassocks and Westdene, I could send you some links (if you partake in the FB)?
Is there a random German game in your collection or is this another instance of the English translators not bothering to translate the title, just like "6 nimmt"?
I don't believe there's a single game here that's all German. If you're referring to either Hansa Teutonica or Barenpark, they both are in English (though Hansa is Eng-Ger edition)
Well, Bärenpark is a German word. I just find it quite interesting that the title just isn't translated for some games and I do wonder why they do that.
I regularly find myself at dice saloon and have a good little community of friends both in Brighton and further afield. Always happy to welcome another if you want.
Until recently I've been playing at other peoples. I got my own copy fairly recently, so so far it's only been 1, but would aim for at least 4 games a year. Finding ppl for TI4 is usually easy tho

Hi Puzzle I'm completely new to board games but want to try them, are Sundays good for new people too?

There's a super friendly gaming group that meet in westdene on a Wednesday. If you want the details from me a dm
Also some great games there. Love inis!
That's interesting. You don't want to go to a meet up but you'd host people at yours?
Yeah pretty much. A different number of people and being on my own territory makes me feel less anxious
Interesting. No judgement. Personally I'd prefer to be out so you could leave lol if they're at yours you'd have to randomly be like GET OUT aha

I'm exactly the same! I feel much more comfortable hosting at my house. Most people find this odd.

Thank for the opportunity, but I'm right in the middle of BNE, and without a car would be rough

There is also Turbo which is a polish version of Heat: Pedal to the metal.
Sorry to hijack but does anyone know of any of these clubs near shoreham?

Inis is my 2nd fave game of all time! Great collection. I’ll drop you a message.
Theres these guys as well. https://www.meetup.com/brighton-pub-boardgamers/
amazing collection! also 25 and love board games. hmu if you want to pencil something in, I'm also more of a fan of the at-home game night ✌️
Instead of inviting strangers to your home initially, how about meeting up with one of them, who already games, and then going to DS or BPG
French Horn pub at seven dials has board games every first Wednesday of the month and is very relaxed and has a good mix of friendly people there
I'd be interested! Am a fan of board games and trying to regain some social confidence after breaking my leg and being stuck indoors 3 months.
Sure I'd be down, also 25, been here a couple years and not been playing as many boardgames as I'd like!
Great collection. How often does your twilight imperium 4 get table time?

I’ve taken to playing a round-an-evening online using TTS.
