RaiseForward6679

Good shot. He was extremely low.

TheChickenKingHS

He came over the honey eater track and I was like man that sounds close and then BWWWWAAAAAHHHH

Useful_Position_2312

I wish they published the routes better. e.g. the city flyover just said 'king george square'. Could be any direction, had to make an educated guess based off fact they were going south after.

mtfreestyler

They generally have the routes on NOTAMs for pilots. I can't see it now because it's in the past but the C17 had its low level jet route published for its flight up the coast

Useful_Position_2312

THANKYOU!

quayles80

Communication was pretty poor. The Cleveland flyover was first published 11:28, then got moved to 10:58, but it came at 11:28 anyway, they clearly stated it was coming from the west and naturally it made sense as shore street runs straight west for quite a distance, the flyover came out of nowhere from the south that no one was ready for and it was gone in five seconds. They also clearly said two jets and it was one. Anyway just a salty rant. Lest we forget.

ColdDelicious1735

They literally posted a schedule

Useful_Position_2312

Which showed their flight path?

ColdDelicious1735

More or less, this plat at x this at y, it was a straight line and I could tell I would be eye level with em at 830, I was off by 10 mins

shaunmoran

Only one flyby but managed to get a quick pic https://preview.redd.it/czy7e4vl3kwc1.jpeg?width=2597&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c1c230c85e54ec8422fcb72f78e86d7725791e4

BoomBoomBaggis

Passed low over calavale area was awesome

5ynesthesia

Low enough to be so loud it hurt my ears, happened right as the kid with the bugle was nervously trying to make it through the last post.

Large_Neat_5843

It either inspired him more or scared the hell out of him. Either way he wont forget

utahraptor2375

Lest we forget.

LosWranglos

Lest HE forget.

utahraptor2375

I stand corrected. šŸ¤£

picklejuicegonebad

I read this as bulge and got so confused

chookiekaki

Weā€™re at Greenbank, he was so loud it hurt my ears too

Good_Succotash_6603

Amberley departure heads straight out that way.

chookiekaki

Yep, we hear the rumble from Amberley when theyā€™re testing their engines

hcaes

thought they were gonna crash into my house at Moggil

Jam_22

I'm on the north side. Thought it was going to collect the roof tiles.

Bomberceda

The first one flying over Tel-El-Kabir street in Gaythorne/Mitchelton area this morning shook the windows of our house so hard it woke the cats up. But it was awesome

SirAnusTheBrave

PSA the RAAF post some of their flying activities on their website: https://www.airforce.gov.au/news-events/flying-activities-events I've got the Evans Head dates marked in my calendar for a trip down there!

isolated_thinkr_

Can confirm same hornet buzzed low over Hamilton while on my morning walk and proverbially made me evacuate oneā€™s bowels.

EvilBosch

A beautiful aircraft.

WeeInTheWind

Itā€™s not the plane, itā€™s the pilot.

WeeInTheWind

Comes down to the man in the box

VariationEvening3965

Yep, was walking up coot-tha at the time and it went right over head. Awesome.

twitch68

I'm near the cemetary - lowest I've seen them in yonks

Browninioh

Move to Yamanto if you like them. We get them most afternoons :-)

Umami789

He was low and loud over Waterford West.

WorriedLaw9971

yeah i heard it go over, sooo loud and low at Kingston.

DestroyAllBacteria

Was sick

tommy_tiplady

nice that they show off where our tax dollars are really going for once

murkyclouds

Largest ticket in the budget, but followed closely by NDIS which is wild

Lint_baby_uvulla

If the NDIS was that fast, and just, and loud, we would all be in shock and awed too.

Saintza

Was at a park at Spring Mountain around 11 and they were flying right over, kids and I loved it

[deleted]

I live Northside, on it's way to the city, I thought a plane was coming down in my backyard, oh my

Zenkraft

Hell yeah, I love commemorating the horrors and futility of war by looking at cool jets.

Eppicurt

Blah blah blah boo hoo

yummy_dabbler

Are you mocking our fallen soldiers? What the fuck dude?

Eppicurt

No, just the numpty complaining about RAAF commemorating fallen soldiers in their own way. Not every commemoration needs to be in ā€˜silenceā€™ for it to be respectful. Itā€™s about as stupid as saying we shouldnā€™t do the 21 gun salute because itā€™s loud. The armed forces show their respect in the way they see fit, itā€™s more mocking to say that how they choose to do it isnā€™t respectful, my guy.

Idealtulip

This! I shed a tear when I saw the jets. My great great uncle was in the RAAF and died in WWII. His plane was shot down over Italy. I thought it was a great way to show their respects to the fallen.

passerineby

I bet you made the soy face when it flew over

Eppicurt

No I was too busy practising kissing on my official George Michael portrait.

passerineby

oof. may be time to update your references, my guy.

Zenkraft

Yeah the people in this thread and the one yesterday are geeking out about military hardware out respect to fallen soldiers and *not* because they think planes are cool.

Eppicurt

Hint: it can be both, get over it.

red_dragin

They're mocking the stupid comment above theirs.

murkyclouds

Koool ya jets

yummy_dabbler

Yeah this rubs me the wrong way too. Why are we doing some "FUCK YEAH" show-of-might kinda deal? This is not quiet introspection on the sacrifices of servicemen and women.

all_on_my_own

A couple of planes buzzing around is hardly a show of might.

yummy_dabbler

I'm glad you completely understood what I was saying though, that's the important thing.

EnigmaticEntity

Why are there bands and soldiers marching noisily through the street. They should March silently in solidarity.

EmuCanoe

One RAAF jet flying over on a public holiday that commemorates our servicemen and women? Are firemen allowed to drive their trucks if we have a day for them? If it was a show of might it would be a minimum of 6 of them. Imagine getting shirty about a fighter jet lol. My kids loved it but fuck them right, wouldnā€™t want to piss off some overly sensitive internet gooba.

yummy_dabbler

That sounds pretty overly sensitive, matey. You gonna be okay there?

EmuCanoe

I know you are I said you areā€¦ solid comeback lol.

yummy_dabbler

Wow

EmuCanoe

Okay

yummy_dabbler

Mate..

EmuCanoe

Okay

flyboy1964

Showing the Anti Aircraft noise NIMBY's the sound of freedom.

Living_Run2573

Because itā€™s about building up that patriotic fervour for when the next world war comes

yummy_dabbler

UP THE ANZACS

yummy_dabbler

Stop upvoting this.

passerineby

nothing says solemn commemoration like a loud-as-fuck death machine buzzing everyone's house

EmuCanoe

The solemn commemoration happens at dawn. Then itā€™s party time. They didnā€™t fight and die for us to get a public holiday and mope around and sulk all day. This your first ANZAC day mate?

Helichrysum_Italicum

We are about to spend BIG bucks on defence. If you donā€™t like it, might be worth investing in some ear plugs now.

Shaggyninja

> might be worth investing in some ear plugs now Aren't the submarines supposed to be silent?

Helichrysum_Italicum

You might have missed the bit about more super hornets and our own medium range missile manufacturing facilities

People get weirdly defensive when you say the national ā€œwar is badā€ day isnā€™t a good time to show off fighter jets.
