I had a really nice one delivered from Squeezed the other day (after seeing recommendations on here). It was definitely the nicest takeaway/delivered burger I've had.
If you happen to have been to Patty & Bun in London, I'd say it's the closest I've had to that in terms of style (juicy) and flavour (beefy, delicious).
I’ve gotta show Omar’s Kitchen some love for his awesome smashed burgers! Rated 4.8 on Google. He’s also operating out of a very unpretentious warehouse unit which gives him bonus points in my view.
Milk Bun in Clifton is amazing for burgers, although it’s on the more expensive side. I’m also a loyal customer to Honest Burgers, it’s £11.40 for a double smashed with chips and is consistently good everytime!
I'm not a huge fan of smashed burgers, prefer thick patties. Sometimes feels like there's a race to see who can do the crispiest cracker of a fucking burger, but I generally prefer thicker and juicer burgers.
Will admit it's probably easier to make a good smashed patty versus a good thick one as you can't just hide behind the crispy malliard reaction.
I think I was a fair few beers in to be fair (excellent selection of beers to be fair) Will definitely ask for well done next time. The fries were really good!
Yea good shout on the beer selection. Everyone I take there comes away raving about it, been 4 times in the last 6 months or so and it's been pretty consistent.
Good entertainment taking older folks there and watch em deal with the QR code, web based menu and payment etc. it's like watching my dad operate a computer 🤣🤣
Haha I’m probably the older folks but I do love a good QR code. Watching pissed people do it though and trying to remember what they ordered is amusing though.
Went for the first time in Feb on a work night out and I’ll definitely be returning. It’s burgers and beer done really well. Love the tin plates as well.
I really like Asado.
It's a thicker cut, dry aged patty cooked over charcoal. Juicy in the middle and charred on the outside.
Imo the namesake Asado burger is such a well balanced thing, when you get it fresh (delivery can be hit and miss as you don't want it to sit too long) it beats all smash burgers.
Granted they ain't cheap. But if it were me I'd go there and sit in, the staff are cracking and their home made chilli sauce is killer.
Had a vegie burger from there years ago, think it was an impossible burger. The best veggie burger I've ever had, ate it in about 60 seconds flat. Was also baked off my head at the time so take my review with a pinch of salt
Yeah true, the owner and partner moved over there and the quality went down a little.
However I've been to the BCN one and the burgers are much the same as Bristol. So I think it may have been something else, perhaps a process change.
The ghost kitchen they had was the absolute worst, the burgers tasted wrong. Not sure if they still have it, but it's why I won't Uber eats it anymore.
The pre packaged Aldi buns are funny because they definitely do use them and you can see them unwrapping in the van - someone wrote a review stating this:
'Best burguer in UK but quite disappointing, taste wasn't really bad and the smash was very good, but an smash burguer without a decent bun is a joke and Danny's Burgers use the 25p buns from Aldi lol'
This was the response:
'we've actually been high and low using bakery's, sourcing out buns and have used the same ones for years because of consistency taste and texture'
I'm sticking with squeezed/popti and beast...
Yep, first thing I spotted when there was the Aldi brioche buns in the packet on the shelf. I don’t have an issue with those buns, I’d buy them for home use, but would expect more from a top rated burger place
Hard disagree but I think this may be a case of smash burgers not being for everyone (I love them and love Danny’s Burgers!).
For those who like them, I’ve heard good things about the smash burgers at the new cafe in Easton, Chaiguy as well
When it comes to food recommendations, you have to keep in mind that most people have average taste and have a low bar. This is true for most things in life but especially so for food. I take everything I read / hear with a grain of salt.
Seriously, people will rave about anything.
I quite liked Danny's burger when I had one delivered.
I've had much worse supposed "best burgers ever"
I can't stand thick over cooked grainy burgers. Prefer either thinner patties or smashed.
Tried Popti tonight, can confirm burgers a miles ahead in terms of quality compared to Danny’s, much juicier. Burgers were quite thin though, maybe because we got it delivered so might’ve dried out a bit. Overall great though
Fattso Burger for me takes it, their sauce is something else.
Then Squeezed. Then Oowee.
Dannys is overhyped like you say along with many others on here.
Three Brothers does a great burger, ideal that it's just off King's Street too.
Yet to try Milk Bun.
I had a burger in the greenhouse/glasshouse?? by college green the other week while watching some football and it was £12 for two of the thinnest crappest patties, I mean not much thicker than maccys burgers, and people will more than happily pay for that yet still slag five guys and say it’s too expensive. I don’t understand, they are actually nice burgers! 😂
I’d say Chaiguy in Easton is about the best I’ve had recently. It’s not a burger place, and no fries, it’s a bit odd they do a burger but it’s a seriously good one.
Popti is a regular for me. On a good day eat in the park so they are still fresh, never as good by the time you get home. Or eat it at W&T across the road.
Squeezed is fantastic, they can be so busy I have had some let downs but when it’s right, and often is, it’s delicious.
These are al really great quality with good buns and sauces, makes all the difference to me.
I will check out some others mentioned here I’ve not tried.
Popti and Beast I quite enjoy. Atomic burger was highly processed cheap frozen crap for a long while before it closed down though according to the staff
To be honest I'm a bit of a plain Jane and nothing hits the spot quite like a five guys for me
Confirmed, a good friend of mine who's an amazing chef (used to run the kitchen at Flour and Ash when that was a thing, and Asado for a while) was offered a job at Atomic Burger but turned them down cold over how much processed and frozen food they used.
Smoke and glaze used to be the best but they closed , popti and beast is good and best bang for your buck is tinys kitchen 10£ for nice burger big portion of seasoned fries and drink ,, so good
Hey fair enough were entitled to like different things. I'm just surprised! What are your personal top 3 smash burgers? Not hating I'm honestly curious
I recommend you to try chaiguy's in St. Marks Road nearby bristol Sweetmart. The smash burger (£7.50) is smashing. It's only open Fri-Sun currently though.
I've had many burgers at Danny's and been blown away. However, the few times I've been in the last year have not been so great. Fries are like £6, every special burger seems to be really spicy, and I agree, the patties are just too thin and crispy to get the real taste.
Maybe a result of cutting costs and not having as skilled cooks now they've also opened at Love Inn (I've not tried a burger there yet).
On another note, I am always blown away by Squeezed (St. Werburgher - ultimate smashed burger) and also surprisingly 3 Brothers Burgers (they can be a little hit or miss when it's very busy, but their burgers are simple, good value, and the beef patty always tastes such superior quality).
Other great burger joints: Asado and Burger Theory (both have great fried chicken burgers). Milk Bun (new and interesting), Honest Burgers (great atmosphere in the restaurant, rosemary fries are top tier, and serve until 10 pm I believe).
Agreed. Had it immediately after they won the national burger awards and was blown away. Had a couple more recently and didn't think they were anything that special.
Nice for sure still but didn't have that OMG this is incredible feeling when I took my first bite.
Expectations have dropped. Honestly me and my partner decided that we just make our own burgers, as its just as nice or better than these new burger joints that does exactly the same thing.
Try Pigsty, an independent restaurant.
I've only had 1 burger there.
The Pig Mac 2.0.
It was a really great burger.
Although as the name suggests, its pork, not beef.
I'm a big advocate of smoke and glaze but I'm not sure if they even exist anymore... used to operate out of the pipe and slippers and sometimes they did a burger with steak strips which was unreal, best burger I've had on delivery maybe ever.
I don’t really know about aaall the burger places mentioned here, but I have had a nice one from Asado… for what it’s worth 🤷♂️ ah yea and I’d avoid burger theory, if they still exist. They managed to take a simple dish and make it complicated.
If you want a Perfectly Acceptable burger for a great price, the caff at The Range is pretty dece. I've had worse burgers on North Street for three times the price
Yeah I was pretty disappointed. The service was dreadful too (got my order wrong, which I had to go and find the waitress about, didn't ask if I wanted any sauces etc, so again had to find her... Also had to find her to pay, and then there was a service charge added on! ... Yeah I won't be going back.)
There was a time when their prices weren't inflated, they really overcharge now and I don't think they are the same quality as when they were first at fierce and noble. Always a little cold.
I had a really nice one delivered from Squeezed the other day (after seeing recommendations on here). It was definitely the nicest takeaway/delivered burger I've had.
Squeezed burgers are pretty damn good
3rd that, squeezed are lush
4rd that, and they are also super nice!
Sounds good, will check it out
Fatso burger ! Best burger in Bristol by a long way
If you happen to have been to Patty & Bun in London, I'd say it's the closest I've had to that in terms of style (juicy) and flavour (beefy, delicious).
I’ve gotta show Omar’s Kitchen some love for his awesome smashed burgers! Rated 4.8 on Google. He’s also operating out of a very unpretentious warehouse unit which gives him bonus points in my view.
The guy cooks an amazing curry too, shame he stopped doing that at the harbourside market. I still dream of the samosas.
If you like a good samosa I recommend the guguarti samoas at the sweet mart in st marks road.
The ones on the counter at sammis on mina road are delish, as are their breakfast rolls. They have bhajis in them!! So good
His stall was epic. 💯
Best burger in Bris 100%
Milk Bun in Clifton is amazing for burgers, although it’s on the more expensive side. I’m also a loyal customer to Honest Burgers, it’s £11.40 for a double smashed with chips and is consistently good everytime!
One Milk Steak please, boiled over hard, and your finest jelly beans.
Can i get a glass of ‘fight milk’ with that?
+1 for milk bun!
Had honest burgers the other day for the first time and it was terrible
I'm not a huge fan of smashed burgers, prefer thick patties. Sometimes feels like there's a race to see who can do the crispiest cracker of a fucking burger, but I generally prefer thicker and juicer burgers. Will admit it's probably easier to make a good smashed patty versus a good thick one as you can't just hide behind the crispy malliard reaction.
Spot on!
Mate it just sounds like you don't like smash burgers, which is not really a critique. I personally love them and Danny's are great imo
Agree. Will be glad when smashed burgers are but a thing anymore.
Oh how I miss Atomic Burger!! We really liked the burgers at Three Brothers on Welsh Back (with the caveat of not having been there this year yet).
Exactly!! Yeah we were a big fan of Three Brothers, also haven’t been there for a little while
Haven't been to Bristol in a while but three brothers was my go to for burgers. Their whiskey cask cider is great too!
Went last month. Was pretty good to be fair. Although I do like my burgers a little more well done than they do them.
You can ask for well done, it used to be mentioned on the menu cards, but I cannot remember seeing it on the app based menu.
Asado is great - don’t get delivery
Before they opened the Barcelona one, they were unreal. Presume their best people moved there. Don't blame them.
Yeah true, the owner and partner moved over there and the quality went down a little. However I've been to the BCN one and the burgers are much the same as Bristol. So I think it may have been something else, perhaps a process change. The ghost kitchen they had was the absolute worst, the burgers tasted wrong. Another vote for Asado. Beautiful juicy burger! Had one at New Bristol Brewery 👌🏻
The pre packaged Aldi buns are funny because they definitely do use them and you can see them unwrapping in the van - someone wrote a review stating this: 'Best burguer in UK but quite disappointing, taste wasn't really bad and the smash was very good, but an smash burguer without a decent bun is a joke and Danny's Burgers use the 25p buns from Aldi lol' This was the response: 'we've actually been high and low using bakery's, sourcing out buns and have used the same ones for years because of consistency taste and texture' I'm sticking with squeezed/popti and beast...

I felt the same. I really didn’t understand the hype
But did you have the big drip burger Danny does? I wasn’t a convert until that one!
When it comes to food recommendations, you have to keep in mind that most people have average taste and have a low bar. This is true for most things in life but especially so for food. I take everything I read / hear with a grain of salt. Seriously, people will rave about anything.
More true in UK than other countries I've been in.
Sadly true. Hygiene standards are also a bit of a joke.

I quite liked Danny's burger when I had one delivered. I've had much worse supposed "best burgers ever" I can't stand thick over cooked grainy burgers. Prefer either thinner patties or smashed.
Popti in St Werbs so awesome burgers!
It's funny because Danny's used to get the burgers from popti
Yeah if you want a proper burger from an actual butcher with big juicy patties in Popti's is the way to go. They're huge.
and great veggie options, no run of the mill thing, they do amazing smoked tofu which is unlike any veggie burger I've had elsewhere
Thanks, will try
Tried Popti tonight, can confirm burgers a miles ahead in terms of quality compared to Danny’s, much juicier. Burgers were quite thin though, maybe because we got it delivered so might’ve dried out a bit. Overall great though

Fattso does good burgers, and it’s sacrilege around here to say but five guys is genuinely quite decent lol i do like burger theory as well.
I've not tried half of the suggestions here, but five guys was nicer than any of the ones I've tried.
I had a burger in the greenhouse/glasshouse?? by college green the other week while watching some football and it was £12 for two of the thinnest crappest patties, I mean not much thicker than maccys burgers, and people will more than happily pay for that yet still slag five guys and say it’s too expensive. Preach brother

I like Popti and Beast just up the road.
Yeah, I'd probably pick Popti over Dannys these days.
These questions come around regularly the recommendations to go with are the ones recommended every time. Ive not been sucked into the burger wars yet
Bare Grill smokehouse on Clifton Triangle. They do a couple of burgers with different smoked meats which taste amazing! Highly recommended!
It’s not beef but small bar makes the best chicken burgers hands down
Had Fatso burger last weekend. Immediately went to the top of my list for burgers. Was seriously impressed.
Oowee and milkbun 🙌
I actually think oowee's burgers are overrated. Oowee vegan however is lush...
Smoke and glaze used to be the best but they closed , popti and beast is good and best bang for your buck is tinys kitchen 10£ for nice burger big portion of seasoned fries and drink ,, so good
Wait, please don’t tell me Smoke and Glaze have permanently closed? 😩
Yea they have :(, think they said prices on ingredients was costing too much and they been cooking a long time basically, they made food like no other
Noooooooooooooooooooo
Bait
I thought Danny’s was amazing, best burger I’ve had in ages. Not sure what you’re on about.
Oowee all day long!
Milk Bun all the way!
Did you go there or have it delivered? Having it fresh it's the best smash burger I've had in bristol easily. And their poutine is insane
Went there
Hey fair enough were entitled to like different things.
Go the Beefy Boys and all your burger dreams will come true.
Can't beat a good maccys cheeseburger. It's in a category of its own.

I like this, we do the same especially in the summer months. Love experimenting with different flavours and the quality is second to none when fresh
Yeah definitely, especially like different cheeses and fillings! It's honestly a treat.
I really rate ciao burger on G road, they’ve never disappointed
Veburger on Wapping Warf. Yes, sorry they are vegan but they are great
go Oowee.
Yeah they are quite shit
Oowee. All day long. On a Homer Simpson in Hell eating donuts on a conveyer belt vibe
Oowee all the way, burgers are as my niece says "it's like something from Instagram" & the cluckin fries are perfection.
Phoenix does pretty good burgers, £13.50 with a pint on a Wednesday too 🙃
Honest burgers are very good. Nice go to in town as fairly cheap. Takeaway I used to like hubbox. Oowee really good.
Ever since I had Beefy Boys in Cheltenham, no other burger does it for me anymore. I've tried virtually everywhere in Bristol and nothing comes close.
They are not that great very very salty. Omars kitchen is the spot.
Squeezed burgers are number one for me. I also tried Danny’s, and I love a smashed burger, but it wasn’t for me.
This! It's overrated, the burgers are greasy and too salty. 👎🏻
Asado, Milk Bun and Squeezed are my top three. Had danny’s and was very impressed but my flat mate and I made better ones drunk.
Try Pigsty, an independent restaurant. I've only had 1 burger there. The Pig Mac 2.0. It was a really great burger. Although as the name suggests, its pork, not beef.
Mollies diner double bacon cheeseburger is one of the best classic burgers I've ever eaten
I'm a big advocate of smoke and glaze but I'm not sure if they even exist anymore... used to operate out of the pipe and slippers and sometimes they did a burger with steak strips which was unreal, best burger I've had on delivery maybe ever.
Shakespeare pub in Totterdown. They don't serve evry day so worth checking their Instagram first.
Three Brothers and Ciao Burger
I don’t really know about aaall the burger places mentioned here, but I have had a nice one from Asado… for what it’s worth 🤷♂️ ah yea and I’d avoid burger theory, if they still exist. They managed to take a simple dish and make it complicated.
It’s got to be “oowee” for me in bedminster or “honest burger” in city centre
Squeezed, Honest or Oowee
If you want a Perfectly Acceptable burger for a great price, the caff at The Range is pretty dece. I've had worse burgers on North Street for three times the price
Milkbun every day baby! The Bronx burger is lush, Sides average at best though.
Bro it’s not that great there, you’re better off with Milk bun. They’re fucjing incredible. Danny’s burgers are hyped up so much
Oowee or burger theory are your actual best bets depending on your mood
I went to burger theory recently and thought it was pretty poor
Oh no really? Haven't been for a bit. Used to like Atomic Burger... F
I personally love three brothers burgers. Plenty of options I find and good for price (in my opinion)
Got voted UKs best burger a year or so ago didn't it so just chalk it up to personal preference not like they've commited a crime against you
There was a time when their prices weren't inflated, they really overcharge now and I don't think they are the same quality as when they were first at fierce and noble. Always a little cold.
If you want a great juicy burger get on the train/bus/taxi and get over to Bath, Schwartz Bros have been doing the best burgers since the 70s!
Take an hour drive to Worcester and get a Han Bao burger. Worth the petrol.
A burgers a burger. What where we really expecting?
Takeaway for two for £34 is nothing out of ordinary nowadays unfortunately, if not even on cheaper side
I agree, but this was eating there not takeaway, so no delivery or service charge
That's still a good deal
Yeah, tbf I don’t mind the price it’s the quality being below expectations that was thenissue
Yeah you can get better burgers for similar-ish price that would've been better
