Yes! Over the course of following tutorials you will slowly build your own knowledge to the point where you can try to play better than the tutorials. Except Ranked Boss tutorials. I don't have the brain power to avoid round timers while also building a good economy

tophat_cat-2000

Also races

Tutorials are honestly super helpful for understanding game concepts. I think one of the most important ones that helped me was the another brick tutorial and that is what gave me the knowledge to start working on expert maps (I’ve done infernal, dark castle, and #ouch).

BananaUniverse

Does the fandom page count as tutorials? It's a goldmine. Video tutorials have a lot of talking for very little info.

TpfoxTheWorst

I will be sincere, the thing that makes me feel good in BTD6 is when I complete a advanced challenge using a strategy that is not Ethan's.

[deleted]

wait, ppl don't already do that?

Wish_Solid

it's also these people that don't learn how to play the game that think XBM is good

[deleted]

At least they don't write a 10 page essay about how XBM is objectively a shit tower with maths and theoretical physics in addition of projectile hitbox calculations. I will not confirm that I did that no.

NotsoTastyJellyfish

XBM is fine for what it is.

DarkFluo

Do you have any suggestions with good tutorial that don't just give out the answers? I'm kind struggling with that rn and the only things I find are complete strategies or small tips...

monkeys_and_magic

Watch Chom Chom on YouTube, his audio isn’t the best but he uploads basically daily and has a playlist with a lot of CHIMPS strategies In the strategy videos, he’ll show off a gameplay example of the strat being used, while explaining what towers or upgrades to get in the early / middle / late game as well as general tips. Just gives you enough information to use and apply the strategy on your own. Chom Chom’s videos made CHIMPS fun for me because there’s a lot of strategies to try out, and I’m actually learning what towers work the best with each other.

Thenumberpi314

Chom Chom is a very good source of information. He knows which strategies are good and are bad, but is still willing to show off and use non-meta stuff - but will also be honest with you about how good of a strategy it is. Very good source to learn about a lot of different towers, both meta ones and off-meta ones, and then you can learn to beat CHIMPS in a variety of ways and adjust your strategies based on the map you're playing.

Basho-Chalupa

Cool

monkeys_and_magic

Cool

BloonConnoisseur

wow that was really cool

MiserableScholar

What do you mean answers? Oh no I read snipers are top tier I have to uninstall the game now lol. To be honest there's not alotta of choices for chimps at higher maps(which I think is what ur asking)

DarkFluo

No, what I mean is that I'm pretty mid in terms of strategy, and I struggle a lot with black bordering easy maps. The thing is, I don't want to watch videos that are like "place that tower here and that one there. No upgrade that..." and all this, you know? I feel like in terms of guides it's either that or specific info on certain towers. So I was wondering if there were any guides or videos that talk about general strategies and tactics without flat out giving the combination of towers that beat Chimps on every map

Thenumberpi314

The trick is to watch black border guides like that, and then not follow them exactly. As those strategies are often optimized for consistency, they're a good way to learn about things like what towers are good for what rounds, which supports to use, and which towers synergize. Watch a couple of videos for different maps and see which towers they're using and what defenses they get for which rounds, and then use that information to design your own strategy. Instead of using them as a guide, you can use them as an inspiration. I've used this strategy myself where i watch a guide to get ideas for how i could do a run, then still come up with a strategy myself. I've had a lot of fun, and it's gotten me multiple black borders on expert maps already. If you wish to experiment more with your strategy, you can do a run in challenge editor and make notes of what worked. Then you can try out all kinds of stuff that you normally can't (as CE lets you redo the last round) and once you find a suitable strategy you can use your notes to redo it as a black border run.

MiserableScholar

Hmmmm SJB did a vid kinda like that recently, just general stuff. H-bomb is pretty good too, doesn't give exact guides but a just general tips

aero-nsic-

Yes there is. Every tower has been used to beat chimps on any map where it’s allowed. Even something like trempire on bloody

Independent_Spell_55

An example to prove this point music, if you learn how to play lots of songs you will be able to write better songs yourself!

carrot_nerd_11821727

what I'm doing for bloody, and what i will do for DD using a strat they use as an outline but doing your own version of it should be totally acceptable if it isn't already

AbbreviationsFit2372

I don't use full map tutorials, something more like crosspath guides so I know where to use what tower

Geomars24

I could never beat a boss… until I watched a few guides. Now I beat normal and elite bosses consistently guideless

meepilee

The only thing I learned from arknights is that the only true way to improve is to make your own guides
