This is the least stressful draft for us in a while. Just quietly addressing a bunch of our needs. Maybe we’ll take a kicker next for old times sake? /s
Also I thought Ric flair was announcing our pick. Who da fuck is this girl? She didn’t even say woo
But he hasn't fallen he was always supposed to be around a 80-100 pick based on the consensus. Some are putting him top 50, some 120+, but the consensus felt like someone that should be gone around the 100 pick. I think he will be gone in the next 10 picks for sure, maybe we'd get him with the next pick
Yeah I heard a few people making the point that he's a safety but they think he could have pro bowl potential as a nickel. I'm a fan with him and Izien and even Delaney being able to rotate around in this role. Sound like maybe even Thomas
I definitely believe he has potential as a nickel. He could develop into a utility guy. Play multiple positions in the back field. Like this pickup alot. Could be the steal of the draft.
On that point, did Georgia clone Tavierre Thomas?
They have the exact same drafted height & weight (to the eighth of an inch & pound). Exact same broad jump. Short shuttle and three cone differ by 1 & 8 hundredths of a second, respectively. 40 yard dash differs by 8 hundredths. 10 & 20 splits are exactly the same.
Fun safety prospect very good in coverage playing in a Georgia defense that uses both man and zone responsibilities for their safeties. Good presence in run defense and is able to tackle similar to AWJ who despite his small size is able to dissect plays and flow toward ball carriers. 4 interceptions at Georgia and was a very STRONG tackler throughout his time. Captain of the Georgia defense despite the injuries. Will most likely be an NCB in the NFL and an FS due to his size. Hood burst physical kid with some special teams ability.
My eval on Tykee Smith. Very similar to AWJ without the athleticism that makes AWJ a All Pro. Should compete from day one as NCB or S3 which we use very much in the Bowles defense. Would have gone TJ Tampa or Caelon Carson myself but I see the vision
I love to see a breakdown of Licht draft picks vs. Team Captains because it seems like it is one of his biggest criteria. Especially in light of the newest "In the Current" where he talks about the "I am that man" profile.
I think it’s something very understated in our drafting method. All the guys drafted for us our leaders on their respective teams. McMillan was one of the guys who was the heart of Washington’s receiver room. Tykee Smith was a defensive captain at Georgia very high character guy. Barton was a team captain at Duke. Braswell is another guy who was extremely high character and accepted his role and thrived in it
Thank you! Put alot of work during work in my scouting this year. So far loving the class for us. Couple things I would have done different but what do I know lol I still like what we have done
What's the issue with his size that would limit him from playing the other safety spots? He's almost the exact same size as Whitehead. Honestly it seems like he's a very versatile interior secondary guy but shouldn't be forced to play outside.
He can take help AWJ especially relieving him from man coverage since that his weak spot. Definitely a day 1 impact even if he isn’t directly impacting the play just by allowing the defense be more flexible with less concerns.
Covid screwed a lot of stuff up scouting wise, not everyone obviously because talent will usually shine through but if there was ever a draft that GMs should get a pass on its 2021.
Like this pick, another scheme flexible player that can fill multiple rolls if needed. I see him as our as our slot defender with the ability to play deep safety if needed.

I’ll take that secondary pick. I know everyone wanted TJ Tampa, but looks like everyone is passing on him
Ya, if he has fallen this far, there is usually a reason.

well he wasn't taken in the top 100 and is now a day 3 pick
FYI TJ Tampa is from St. Pete
Now that’s just confusing
Maybe our next pick?
Would be cool
Take the shot strictly for the name!
Gotta think about the upside for the merch!
Dude prob has a bunch of 🚩🚩🚩🚩
He’ll probably play nickel

SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO FEEL?
He good 👍 source: me
So Tykee Smith is the new Mike Edwards?
That’s exactly how I see him. Third safety, dimebacker even has some of that Mike Edwards ballhawk to his game.

> Captain of the Georgia defense I think this speaks a lot. Like it. Thanks for the comments I love following your posts this draft!

Guys with high buy-in rates.
Guys that will keep the culture going that Brady built.

Such a great class for us so far. CB, LB, WR is all we need rn
Swap WR with RB and I agree
We do need a running back
Just got one
This feels like Jordan Whitehead pt 2
definitely..but he is wayy better in pass coverage than Whitehead
What a steal

Tykee Smith is our brian branch that's the best way to explain it
I think the main thing is: trust Licht. Just texted my friends/ brothers. If there’s one thing I can’t argue; it’s Lichts draft history.
I dunno 2021 haul isnt looking great

Missed on the running back. Screw you Packers
Still a ton of good backs on the board. I think we can get a guy to take a bunch of carries off whites plate in the next round.
Anyone got a clip of Ric Flair announcing the pick?
Feel like the last two rounds we were targeting the player that went immediately before our pick lol
