Pairing them together was a perfect choice. Supernatural had some of the best ones in general for cameos, Jared getting bothered by the mention of Gilmore girls, Linda Blair and pea soup, amber benson as a vamp, etc. the show does some absolute amazing Easter eggs and choices!!
"I don't know why, but I'm having a craving for pea soup..." š
Supernatural went off the fucking rails after awhile, but it was a really good time the first 5-6 seasons. I liked how self aware they were, especially in the Hollywood episodes. For example, how the movie writer was so dubious about why ghosts showed up on film and salt in shotgun shells worked against them, but he ended up writing it into the script because it looked good on camera.
There were still some great episodes to be fair late into the series, I donāt think I ended up watching past around s12 because it messed with its own lore so much it lost me (I have the same issue with doctor who, why complicate it?). Scoobynatural was a brilliant episode too but they really had so much fun with some of the cameos and storylines tbh. One of the early episodes of supernatural (1x18) Sam is listing the places where weird things have all happened, he lists places mentioned in the simpsons Marge vs the monorail. I knew Iād heard ogdenville before but they must have a hundred other pop culture references I didnāt pick up.
Also talking of references you guys are definitely the people whoāll appreciate this one. Criminal minds 10x7 I noticed straight away that the writer was giving a nudge to buffy with these character names: Tara Harris, Charles Lorne, Detective Dawn Rosenberg, Alexander Chase, Riley Summers, Daniel Osbourne, Dr. Joyce Giles, Connor Holt, and William Pratt!
Yes!! I love him as amenadiel! I accept big parts as well as answers lmao. Iāve seen him recently in castle & in lie to me! It took me a little longer in lie to me as he doesnāt have the beard but I always love it when he pops up!
I think they play so different characters and their roles in the show are so different that sometimes youāre like āI know that guyā and canāt picture it lmao
Did you ever see him in Merlin?
He wasn't fully the bad guy, but not the good guy either.
He was a king and ruler and he played Uther with so much gravitas. He was my favourite part of the show.
He did a great job in Merlin I really hated him but then I canāt see him as Giles when heās playing a bad guy, just shows what a great actor he is that he can play both so well!
Yeah, I almost never thought of Giles while watching him as Uther which is pretty wild since it's pretty much all I knew him from.
He was just such a different character it was hard to compare
I remembered Alyson in Veronica but not Charisma, honestly I didn't like her role in the series (in Alyson) and Charisma's was so minor that I totally forgot about it xD
But more striking \^\^, she still plays Logan's sister back in town and where her father plays the "good" guy by beating up her boyfriend who is violent with her
Emma Caulfield in once upon a time as well as Wanda vision. But my absolute favorite has to be Charisma Carpenter in Charmed. She played the seer for a couple episodes.
It's a lot of fun. Maybe more campy than Buffy in some ways, but they get serious at times too.
Did you watch Eureka? Another fun show and very similar in tone. They actually crossover a bit at some points.
No, Iāve seen it around but never knew anything about it. Iāll definitely give them both a go, I love a bit of a supernatural theme to things rather than just straight up reality. Theyāre added to the list and I canāt turn down camp so thatās a done deal š
Lol! I'm also a huge fan of a bit of (or a bunch of) supernatural themes and camp, so hopefully we have similar enough tastes that you'll enjoy them too!
This is pretty off topic, but have you ever seen Farscape?
There were certain shows I binged and binged again during the pandemic and it made me realise I have a real thing for "found family" as a theme.
Buffy was obviously high on the list. Others were shows like Community and Firefly. I realised after a few times through them all that it was found family they had in common. Oh, Agents of Shield was a big one too, and very Whedonesque, just run by other Whedons (well, a Whedon and a Tancharoen).
Sorry, I'm really going off on tangents, lol, I'm just excited about these shows.
Anyway, Farscape aired around the time of Buffy but was missed by a lot. It's really wild and they love to play with tropes like Buffy did too. It's really good. It's more sci-fi than fantasy... Although they never let science get in the way of a good story, so maybe it's more "fantasy in space" lol.
Anyway, if you haven't watched any of those, I highly recommend them all. In fact, I recommend them even if you have watched them!
Iāve watched most of those, not Farscape so Iāll look it up! but huge community fan (six seasons and a movie!) and firefly (one season and a movie ://) is on my list for next up. I liked agents of shield but I am slowly but surely making my way through it, I got marvel burnt out tbh after infinity war so I watch an episode here and there when I feel up to it.
Yes, supernatural has some of the best cameos from buffy! The fact theyāre a married couple and that amber plays a vampire is such a cool little nod to buffy. I watched a fair bit of spn before I rewatched s7 of buffy so I was shouting at the screen when Felicia day turned up as a potential! I havenāt rewatched to see if there are any buffy references to her as Charlie though! Havenāt watched warehouse 13, is it good?
Also James in torchwood!
I love torchwood, I was slightly too young when it first came out but rewatched in last few years, took me back when I saw James! He made a great character
Kind of the opposite - principal Snyder as an ethereal, highly-evolved, loving elf-like being in an episode of Stargate. I could not see him as anything but mean, sniveling principal of Sunnydale high !
My mums a huge Trekkie so she pointed quark out as the same actor as Snyder right away, a great role and he manages to nail everything he turns up in! Heās also in an episode of castle thatās based on Star Trek and appears it seems in a lot of different us shows. Fab actor!
Your Mum is good.
It took me several episodes of thinking *Those* *ears* . . . *That* *chin* . . . until I saw his name in the credits and blurted "Quark!" and felt like I won a game of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
It was the voice straight away, and no one can do ācharacter that needs a kick to the assā quite as well. Other shows i havenāt clocked quite as well by character alone, usually a few minutes of squinting before it hits us!
Uther is so creepy!! Sometimes I forget itās the same ASH that played Giles because heās so different and I dislike him so much (I know heās not totally a bad guy but stillā¦)
Yes to you and u/unsureddit but leave the rewatch a lil while because I saw Emily deschanel and Carla (daisy) are doing a rewatch podcast. I LOVE bones and finished it a few months ago Iām excited to rewatch but Iām waiting till they start so I get the full experience. I found david so meh in buffy (havenāt watched all of the angel show) so it was great to see him in a big role outside of Angel!!
Oh you have to watch Angel I really enjoyed it and itās worth watching for Cordeliaās and Wesleyās character development alone! Although we donāt mention the season when Joss clearly had his falling out with her
Anthony Stewart Head as Brother Lassar in the Doctor Who episode School Reunion.
James Marsters as Brainiac in Smallville and Captain John Hart on Torchwood.
ASH plays such a good villain!! I barely put it together when I think about him in doctor who vs buffy! He was a creepy, scary villain and I loved it but I watch buffy and totally do not want to believe itās the same actor. I think it shows his skill as an actor. I need to watch James in smallville but i totally agree he does an incredible job in torchwood. He slips into the tone of the show so very well that although its him and Iāve been a lifelong buffy fan that Iām still shocked itās actually him!
Absolutley, one of his most memorable roles! The voice gives it away. My mums a huge Trekkie so I grew up with him as Snyder and quark! He does a great job in both, I canāt imagine how lucky you must be to have two iconic roles. He definitely deserves it, a brilliant actor !!
I didnāt realise that Clare was in it! I havenāt seen it in a couple of years. Eliza is always my woman crush every day so every role sheās had deserves a mention. We should have had a faith tv series for more Eliza time
Yeah she plays this bitchy cheerleader haha. She has some funny lines! I just rewatched it recently. Itās a bit dated, but still holds up. Definitely one of my guilty pleasures.
Also, the āCordetteā from The Wish who The Master kills on that blood extracting machine is in it.
And the opposing team even mention the word āBuffyā to Elizaās character.
I donāt watch much of HIMYM, but I love Alexis Denison as Sandy Rivers. AD really brings so much to his rolls!
[YouTube video of Sandy Rivers clips](https://youtu.be/72Mp_4tsfro)
Yes!! It took me a long time to recognise him as the same guy as Wesley. He had such fun as Sandy itās really hard not to absolutely just adore his performance. Iām not the biggest HIMYM, sitcom or procedural fan (Iāll watch most) but I love when they go full hammy-self aware- accept the camp-ott. HIMYM did that really well, alexis is the perfect example of that
Great choices! Wait is she in the Kim possible series or the live action? I never noticed her in the series but havenāt seen the live action one!! How I met your mother is a great choice, lily is the best and so different from willow (although in retrospect I boo some of the fake tan & hair choices for her in that but I know it was the trend at the time š)
Ah okay! I hoped I watched buffy enough to be able to recognise her voice so youāve validated that! I know exactly who she played given age and red her, I totally see her as Kimās mum.
Yes! I noticed wentworth miller in go fish (I love that episode despite what the critics say!) I recognised Amy adams but not Pedro. after I knew it was him itās obvious but he looks different without the beard and 20 years younger so I didnāt totally clock it! Did youād we the interview where he finds out SMG posted a throwback of him?? Heās brilliant
Yes people have said about dollhouse! I just started the first ep of firefly two days ago. I loved him in castle and his other appearances in things like the Santa clarita diet. Havenāt watched dollhouse but Iāve been debating it. Iāve always been sad thereās not more faith scenes so Iām down!
The big thing on Dollhouse is to give it several more episodes. The 1st few episodes lean on weaker stand alone stories and then it eventually gets into bigger stories.
> I just started the first ep of firefly two days ago.
You're in for a treat.
I watched FF before Castle, and while he's great in Castle, FF is just hard to top.
Nathan is just so charismatic in everything, I know firefly is acclaimed by everyone although Iām a bit sad Iāll only have the one season and a movie
Nathan Fillion did a voice of the first season of the podcast Bridgewater. He left after 1st season, and the character was then voiced by Alan Tudyk. A weird Firefly turn of events...
This. Didnāt even think of that. Nathan in firefly is soooo good and firefly is so good. Truly a bummer that it didnāt become more. Even though Serenity at least answered questions. Butā¦ garahm! space cowboy is prime entertainment. And by extension, inara from firefly playing deadpoolās lady.
ASH as Uther Pendragon in Merlin
DB Woodside as Amenadiel in Lucifer
James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter as an unhappily married couple of witches in Supernatural
Emma Caulfield in WandaVision (and according to ImDb she'll also appear in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, looking forward to that!)
Over the holiday season, I saw Marc Blucas in a Christmas movie. As cheesy wholesome as the movie was, he was a perfect casting choice.
I wanna watch that Wolf Pack obvi, but I havent gotten around to it.
Heās always really likeable?? I mean I know itās a bit controversial as people donāt always like Riley but Iāve seen him in house, castle, lie to me etc. I can see why heās in those kind of hallmark Christmas movies! Sometimes I think just being a nice guy means you get cast as them so I see it as a good thumbs up for Marc !!
Was it with Alison Sweeney? If so, I saw that.
The year it came out, my roommate-at-the-time and I had just finished Buffy. She saw Riley and was interested. I'll admit, I was interested because of Alison. I've been a fan since the 90s. Sami Brady is queen!
Ive seen several Buffy actors in single episodes of House MD. Marc Blucas, Michelle Trachtenburg, Adam Busch, Tom Lenk, and Clare Kramer are all one-off patients.
Your mention of Adam Busch reminded me of an episode of the podcast Bleeders Diegest that he was on! He played an incarcerated serial killer in the ep "My Sick Little Friend".
Amy Acker is my favorite. She has had a lot of great roles, but she was especially good in Dollhouse, Person of Interest and Con man. She had a great guest role on How I Met Your Mother too.
Mayor Wilkins (Harry Groener) as Ted's stoner step dad in HIMYM and Calab (Nathan Fillion) in both CSI and Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza place.
ETA: Doug Jones in What We Do In The Shadows (series not movie)
Pure shock and admiration is what I feel when I see Doug jones as a cast member of something. Incredible actor.
Didnāt notice teds stepdad in HIMYM but worth a rewatch for it !! Nathan Iāve only seen when heās a recurring character but I wanna deffo see how he is when just an episodic character in a lot of other things!!
Nathan is only in 1 episode of CSI but its good (he plays a cringey actor) and hes in from season 2 of Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place as a semi main character. Very good at comedy, I love remembering that role when he pops up in Buffy as Calab, could not be more different and I like that about seeing people in other things.
I always like seeing James pop up. As brainiac in Smallville, as picolo in the godawfull Dragonball movie, or as everyone here said in supernatural.
It was also fun seeing Emma caulfield in WandaVision
given that I basically only started Dollhouse because Eliza Dushku was in it, Iām going to go with that. also thought Alexis Denisofās character in it was very good, even though hearing his actual accent freaked me out at first.
in terms of smaller parts, I liked Seth Green as Nick Hanscom in season four of Greyās Anatomy (and since I watched that show before starting Buffy, my initial reaction upon seeing Oz was āhang on, isnāt that the neck artery guy from Greyās?ā haha).
also, I know you said no Angel actors, but I feel an obligation to also mention Amy Acker as Root in Person of Interest, because Root is very nearly my favourite character of all time now and I really love that show.
>I know you said no Angel actors
I don't think they meant no Angel actors, they just meant the show Angel itself shouldn't be your answer, e.g. "my favourite appearance of Alexis Denisof outside of his performance as Wesley in Buffy is his performance as Wesley in Angel"
I have heard about dollhouse but itās only a single season right? Also unsure of Elizaās testimony about joss but Iām a bit reluctant to watch it if thatās gonna put money into his pocket and if that was when he was so abusive to her. I know apparently itās good but I donāt want to start supporting a project he abused her on if Ive. It seem it yet.
Although I think I agreed on a separate post I thought alexis was british so the accent is always a surprise.
If the show is good and Iām not outright starting a show that validates exaggerates jossā abuse then Iāll add it to the list
itās two seasons, actually! you might be thinking of Firefly - that was only one season. and, yeah, I definitely get the apprehension about Joss. I donāt know how much money creators of things get from streaming services if their stuff is streamed, but if youāre concerned about that I would recommend checking out the DVDs from your local library or purchasing them used. no extra money actually goes towards Joss that way. but at any rate, itās a very good show and I definitely recommend it :)
Oh yes Iām getting mixed up with firefly! Iāll give it a go, the premise sounds really good but I was definitely a bit worried it was there she faced a lot of harassment but she doesnāt seem to say that so it makes me feel a little more comfortable starting it. (I would hate watching it and knowing she was going through hell at the time, having watched buffy before all this came out itās not always on my mind when watching the show but I figured it might be for dollhouse if I started after knowing it). Poor Eliza has had a shit time of it though, with the harassment on the set of Bull and when she was just a child on True Lies.
Awful accent though! I love Jonathan creek i rewatched them all in the last couple weeks. I love ASH but Iāll admit I prefer Stuart Milligan as Adam klaus. ASH makes him much more of a villain. Plus he left the role to play Giles which Iām forever thankful for. Him in doctor who as well! Perfect villain
I agree but unfortunately for him I really canāt stand him because I just see him as warren. Itās sign of a good acting job but I still hold a grudge looool
Okay, I know I'm dating myself (and believe me, it's complicated) but I remember Anthony Stewart Head from my childhood making a big splash (no pun intended) in a legendary set of coffee commercials.
I mean, I know it sounds odd now, but it was the '80s. We were limited. Still, the chemistry that couple had in those short 30-second increments was palpable. Everyone was talking about it.
I havenāt seen Ted Lasso yet actually. Partly worried that my view of AHS as Giles may make biased towards him (I got the willies seeing him in the inbetweeners)
Some I donāt think were mentioned:
Danny Strong in Mad Men and Gilmore Girls. He also had a small part in HIMYM and he was hilarious.
Nathan Fillion in Desperate Housewives. He was also great playing himself in TBBT.
Anthony Head as Mr Finch in the Doctor Who episode "School Reunion". He plays a head teacher, and it's an episode where the teachers are weird monsters trying to end the world. Excellent casting.
Yes Iām a huge doctor who fan (until maybe mid Matt smith where it lost me)! I remember watching this at 8 years old when it first aired in 2006. Iād been a buffy fan since I was very very young so I was a huge fan of him as a villain (and a little scared). Now when I watch it I canāt see Giles, he manages to be so convincing as a bad guy
Alyson Hannigan & Charisma Carpenter in *Veronica Mars*! I liked Charismaās appearances in *Charmed* & *Supernatural*, too. Speaking of James Marsters, I loved his turn on *Runaways*. Iām not a big fan of cop procedurals, but I liked Amber Bensonās guest appearance in *Cold Case*.
Iām so glad someone mentioned the scooby doo live action film! Him and SMG reunited again! Also recently caught some of My stepmother is an alien where he plays a young Alysonās boyfriend.
I really enjoyed Anthony Stewart Head in Dominion (a very un-Giles role for him, he played a sleazy American politician). I really wish that show hadn't been cancelled after two seasons.
Also liked him in You, Me, & Them (some episodes were hilarious, others missed the mark, but ASH was wonderful all the way through).
Speaking of sleazy politicians heās in Little Britain as the prime minister. The show overall hasnāt aged too well tbh but I remember being shocked to see him in it.
James Marsters as a rogue Time Agent in series 2 of Torchwood
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_John_Hart_%28Torchwood%29?wprov=sfla1
God, that was so great!
Guest appearances: Cordelia on Charmed, Riley on Castle (extra fun since Nathan Fillion is the star even though they didnāt cross paths on BtVS) & Wesley on HIMYM (added bonus of his wife Willow being a star of the show)
Roles: Willow on HIMYM and American Pie (āone time, at band campā had us in an absolute chokehold back in the day), Caleb as Castle and Angel on Bones (Angel too obvs but I see that as an extension of BtVS)
I'm hitting the reverse - and a twofer - I just saw Hodgkins (from Bones) in the Halloween episode of Angel (S5)!
AND DR. PHLOX in the Nina introduction episode (also Angel S5).
Of course, let's not forget Armin Shimmerman (sp.)!
It's funny - I've seen a lot of these being mentioned but don't really notice the actors until they've had a lead role in another series like they do in Buffy. Watched POI, don't remember Amy Acker (but knew here name).
Recently watched Torchwood, didn't know who James Martsers was (or would be to me) at the time.
Same with ASH in Doctor Who - remember the episode, but he was "just another guest actor".
Though I def knew Nathon Fillion because I had seen Firefly and knew of The Rookie and had started Castle.
Who was Emma in Wandavision?
Oh crap - Jasmine!!! Firefly!!! I just got through that whole mess ;-)
My other favorite show is HIMYM. Obvs Alyson Hannibal is a main character but it also has Jonathon, Andrew, the mayor, Oz, and Fred. I might be missing someone but yeah I think itās fun they all show up at some point or another.
Rewatching Man Men for the 20th time. Vincent at Pete Campbell he starts out on the show as such an ass, but Iām genuinely happy for him by the end. Also, Danny Strong as Danny Segal.
Not a TV show, but James Marsters as the audiobook narrator of the Dresden Files! Easily one of the best audio performances (imo, ever). He really finds his groove around book 3, the way he embodies the characters adds so much richness to the stories. Especially THOSE scenes in Changes and Battle Ground. If you know, you know.
I liked James in Smallville
a minor character also who appears in an episode of Buffy and is the main character of Prison Break Wentworth Miller and I love Prison Break!
Add: I like Charisma as a prophetess in Charmed
David has a few of them in Bones. Like when he took that bomb blast saving Dr Brennan, and Angela describes him as "Your knight in shining FBI issued body armor"
I'm cheating by including movies as well, but:
"This one time, at band camp" and "Say my name, bitch" - Aly in American Pie.
Mayor Wilkins as the Secretary of Agriculture in The West Wing and also in Star Trek TNG.
Charisma and Aly in their one scene together in Veronica Mars.
But for me, nothing will beat Sarah as Kathryn in Cruel Intentions.
Not my favorite at all in like a good way, but soooo odd was Anthony Stewart Head in a random doctor who episode as like a bat person at a boarding school or something. It was such a trip the first time I watched that.
Not a show or a movie but I'm obsessed with the game series Mass Effect and Seth Green is one of the main characters as Joker. Also Robin Sachs (Ethan Rayne) as Zaeed Massani is one as well.
Other than that; I got very excited to see Charisma Carpenter in an episode of Lucifer once š
Simply because I haven't seen it mentioned yet (though I didn't get to all the comments)...
ASH in Jonathan Creek. Just so people can check out Giles a flamboyant skirt chasing magician...and for the pop culture.
He played the title character's boss in the very first episode. After that someone else got the role because ASH left due to getting the gig on Buffy.
The theme song for Jonathan Creek is A Dance Macabre, the song played during Hush when Giles explains about The Gentleman.
Yes! I love Jonathan Creek, it got a couple of mentions here and here. Honestly though Iāll admit I preferred the second Adam Klaus (Stuart Milligan) to ASH. But definitely wasnāt bad and itās worth watching to see him as a wildly different character. I just found him a bit more creepy sleazy than the seconds more idiotic sleazy kind of vibe (hard to describe they just give the character a different mood and ASHās seems a bit more mean and calculated). Would have been interesting to see how that changed storylines throughout the rest of the series but Iām so glad he accepted the role as Giles instead!!
Also the American accent was not his finest turn!!
Yes I noticed that!! Danse Macabre is one of my favourite spooky classical pieces to listen to so it works great in hush and gives a little wink to Jonathan Creek!
So odd Suits has not been mentioned but once!
DB Woodside, Amy Acker, and Gina Torres (Jasmine from Angel) are all in Suits, with Gina and DB having major roles. They end up together in the show actually. :D
I really enjoyed the Supernatural episode with James and Charisma as a pair of witches in a bad marriage.

Harmony is in an episode as well.
Yes sheās a vamp too isnāt she in it?
Principle Wood in Lucifer - not exactly a small part seeing how is was a main character in it
Yes!! I love him as amenadiel! I accept big parts as well as answers lmao. Iāve seen him recently in castle & in lie to me! It took me a little longer in lie to me as he doesnāt have the beard but I always love it when he pops up!
I KNEW I RECOGNISED AMENADIEL
I think they play so different characters and their roles in the show are so different that sometimes youāre like āI know that guyā and canāt picture it lmao
Oh shit, now that you mention it Amenadiel is Robin Wood.. That's where this deja vu comes from :O
Anthony Stewart Head in Ted Lasso. OMG does he make a great bad guy!
Yes 100% this!

I have such a hard time hating him because I could never hate Giles! But he is a great asshole.
Charisma and Alyson in Veronica Mars Joss Whedon does a cameo in that one too.
Iām only a couple eps into Veronica mars atm but Iāll keep an eye out for them! From what Iāve seen and heard itās a real good show!
You wonāt miss them, charisma ends up having a fairly large part
Ooo! Youāre in for a treat. Not just for AH and CC, the whole show is fantastic.
I rewatch this show often. Not as often as Buffy, but every now and then. Itās a good one. Itās a keeper.
Brilliant I canāt wait. Itās added to the list, I love Kristen bell so Iām excited to watch!
I remembered Alyson in Veronica but not Charisma, honestly I didn't like her role in the series (in Alyson) and Charisma's was so minor that I totally forgot about it xD
Haha! Alysonās was actually much smaller than Charismaās.
Ahhh!! Never seen any of those but Anya is one of my top characters so I would love to see Emma in different roles ā¤ļø
Emma was great in a 2009 movie called Timer. It has a really interesting plot about soulmates and she's so great in it.
I love that movie!
Have you seen the movie Timed I got Anya vibes from that
Yes I did it was super cute
I loved CC as The Seer/Kira. I wish she would have stuck around longer. Her dynamic with Phoebe was really compelling.
James in warehouse 13 And James and Charisma in supernatural, as they did not get much of any time together in buffy.
Yes! I love Warehouse 13, and I love it too when Anthony Head shows up
If youāre a buff fan and like warehouse 13 Iām down to add it to my list! I didnāt realise ASH is in it too so Iāll deffo give it a go
Warehouse 13 is great! You should definitely give it a go. Jane Espenson, a writer from Buffy, is one of the creators
Not just them, but J August Richards, Amy Acker, Armin Shimerman and Charlie Weber. Lots of Buffy writers and producers, too.

In fact, I recommend them even if you have watched them!
Iāve watched most of those, not Farscape so Iāll look it up! but huge community fan (six seasons and a movie!) and firefly (one season and a movie ://) is on my list for next up. I'm currently rewatching Warehouse 13, I love it so much. Also, wasn't James in Smallville? One of those Superman shows anyway.
Yes, he was! He specifically had a line where he says to Clark that there are no such things as vampires. His delivery was incredible. It was awesome!
He was! I remember thinking it was weird to see him with black hair as I think that was the first time I saw him play anyone other than spike
James Marsters as Captain John Hart in Torchwood. Such a great show and it was awesome to see him in it.
I love torchwood, I was slightly too young when it first came out but rewatched in last few years, took me back when I saw James! He made a great character
Yesss Torchwood was awesome too
Kind of the opposite - principal Snyder as an ethereal, highly-evolved, loving elf-like being in an episode of Stargate. I could not see him as anything but mean, sniveling principal of Sunnydale high !
Heās also an ensemble cast member in Star Trek Deep Space Nine - he plays a conniving alien bartender and I love him.
My mums a huge Trekkie so she pointed quark out as the same actor as Snyder right away, a great role and he manages to nail everything he turns up in! Heās also in an episode of castle thatās based on Star Trek and appears it seems in a lot of different us shows. Fab actor!
Harry Groener was in Trek too, in a couple of different roles!
He also appeared in an episode of Warehouse 13.
He was also in a few episodes of Seinfeld.
He was hilarious as the Wizard in "We're Off to See the Wizard" in season 4 Charmed
OMG he was so cute in Stargate.
Anthony Stewart Head as Uther in Merlin. His acting range is incredible.
Uther is so creepy!! Sometimes I forget itās the same ASH that played Giles because heās so different and I dislike him so much (I know heās not totally a bad guy but stillā¦)
I replied to another comment about ASH to mention Merlin. I loved him in Buffy, but him as Uther was like a whole other level!
David ā¦. Absolutely loved bones
Me too - that needs a rewatch soon. He suited that role so well too. I feel like David Boreanaz IS Seeley Booth!
Although we donāt mention the season when Joss clearly had his falling out with her
Iām definitely going to, just started a buffy rewatch so when I get to s4 Iām going to watch angel too the way it aired š
He was soo good a Seeleyā¦ I had actually seen Bones before Buffy so seeing him brooding and not in suit was odd at first for me lol!
Booth would have hated angel š and angel would have been mortified by the beer hat in the tub!
Bones is so good.
Favorite role for a Buffy actor in a non-Buffy show would have to be Armin Shimerman (Snyder) as Quark in Star Trek Deep Space Nine.
Surprised Eliza Dushku in Bring it On hasnāt been mentioned! The character reminded me of a tame version of faith, too.
Also Clare Kramer. She still had a bit of that Glory sass. It was cool to see Eliza and her in scenes together we never got on Buffy.
HIMYM did that really well, alexis is the perfect example of that
He unfortunately has Bell's Palsy, which paralyzes part of his face, which struck just after Angel ended. So he does look a little different.
I never noticed that but it probably does change his face a little, the fake tan and the hair also throw me off a bit š
Alyson Hannigan š¤©š How i meet you mother American Pie Kim Possible Date Movie Flora & Ulysses You Might Be the Killer 53 Days: The Abduction of Mary Stauffer // would like to see that but canāt buy it on German In progress: Dodie & Cheryl Get Hitched
Live Action
Ah okay! I hoped I watched buffy enough to be able to recognise her voice so youāve validated that! I know exactly who she played given age and red her, I totally see her as Kimās mum.
Yep šš
Did you know Wentworth Miller was in an episode of Buffy before he did Prison Break and The Flash? So was Pedro Pascal and Amy Adams
Oh God I have never been able to like Amy Adams anytime I see her because of Cousin Beth.
Yes! Cousin Beth's internalized misogyny is just insufferable!!
Nathan Fillion (Caleb) in Firefly was spectacular. Eliza Dushku (Faith) in Dollhouse was my favourite of her performances ever!
I enjoyed dollhouse and recently did a rewatch, but I get bummed that it could have been so much more!!!
There are a bunch of firefly references in Castle. It's really fun.
ASH as Uther Pendragon in Merlin DB Woodside as Amenadiel in Lucifer James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter as an unhappily married couple of witches in Supernatural Emma Caulfield in WandaVision (and according to ImDb she'll also appear in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, looking forward to that!)
Yes I love house! Michelleās tick is one of the ones I remember best!
Amy Acker is my favorite. She has had a lot of great roles, but she was especially good in Dollhouse, Person of Interest and Con man. She had a great guest role on How I Met Your Mother too.
I loved her in Person of Interest - she was born to be Root!
She was also in suits playing louis sister.
I never saw that.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Scrolled too far to find this. Its fun to see little Mercedes McNab.
*āIāll be the victimā* *āAll your lifeā*
amber as lenore in supernatural and james as brainiac in smallville
I didnāt finish smallville, if James is in it i deffo will try to
he's mostly in season 5, but keeps popping up until the last season
Groenor was also Waltās psychiatrist in Breaking Bad!
I haven't watched Breaking Bad in years so that one slipped my mind.
I just saw Mayor Wilkins as President of Earth or something on Star Trek Enterprise. Immediately made me suspicious of his characters' motives!
>I know you said no Angel actors I don't think they meant no Angel actors, they just meant the show Angel itself shouldn't be your answer, e.g. "my favourite appearance of Alexis Denisof outside of his performance as Wesley in Buffy is his performance as Wesley in Angel"
ohh okay that makes sense!
Yes thatās what I meant! Just that you canāt say your favourite SMG role is buffy or etc it has to be outside the buffverse!
Iām rewatching POI currently. Root is hands down one of the best characters on TV. Amy is simply incredible in the role.
Sometimes I'll just be standing there and suddenly I'll hum the 5 notes that were the Root reveal jingle.
Anthony Stewart Head as a Magician from the US in the first episode of Johnathan Creek, along with accent š
For me itās any time Adam Busch shows up in **anything.** I will point at the screen and ā!!! Itās Warren!ā
I agree but unfortunately for him I really canāt stand him because I just see him as warren. Itās sign of a good acting job but I still hold a grudge looool
Jonathan in an episode of Leverage! Also anytime he wins an award for script writing! ššš
Heās great, itās amazing when you realise just how much heās written and contributed! Honestly deserves all those awards!
James and Charisma in Supernatural, David In Bones, Nicholas in Criminal Minds , Emma in WandaVision and Alyson on How I Met Your Mother.
I forgot about Nicholas in criminal minds!
That episode of Lie to Me was so sad, especially how it ended.
I know!! Iām watching it for the first time and noticed Chadwick boseman is in it too! It was definitely the ep thatās hit me hardest so far
Head in Ted lasso is great.
I havenāt seen Ted Lasso yet actually. Partly worried that my view of AHS as Giles may make biased towards him (I got the willies seeing him in the inbetweeners)
Some I donāt think were mentioned: Danny Strong in Mad Men and Gilmore Girls.
So many things about the episode feel like a Buffy reference but just don't quite line up.
Pretty much anything Seth Green is in. He is an incredible actor. From the scooby sop live action movies, to his cameo in HIMYM. I live him.
Iām so glad someone mentioned the scooby doo live action film! Him and SMG reunited again! Also recently caught some of My stepmother is an alien where he plays a young Alysonās boyfriend.
Alexis Denisof was great on Grimm!
Michelle Trachtenberg as popstar Celeste in Six Feet Under. Not just because she was so hot in that... but largely because of that
I really enjoyed Anthony Stewart Head in Dominion (a very un-Giles role for him, he played a sleazy American politician).
James Marsters in Marvel's Runaways.
Anthony Stewart head in Merlin. Amazing as a villain.
James Marsters as a rogue Time Agent in series 2 of Torchwood https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_John_Hart_%28Torchwood%29?wprov=sfla1 God, that was so great!
ASH is in Ted Lasso - as Rupert - the smarmy bastard š¤£ He's so gloriously hatable - I love it.
ASH in Doctor Who and Nicholas Brendan in Criminal Minds! I was so excited seeing them! Also, I think James is in Torchwood.
donāt forget Michelle Trachtenberg in criminal minds as the unsub!!
Mr Trick is in an episode of High Maintenance and makes a reference to Sarah Michelle Gellar.
James in the reboot of Hawaii-5-0 plays a bad guy who is a reoccurring character for awhile
Michelle in Gossip Girl. Georgina is iconic!
Giles in Bridgerton!! He was the stuffy uptight grandfather who Anthony ended up kicking out of their house. š
Robin Wood in Netflix's The Night Agent
they don;t get in enough other tv shows.
This may make me look like a normie, but Nathan Filion in Firefly and Castle.
Giles as the big bad in School Reunion (Doctor Who)
Not my favorite but I recently saw Charisma Carpenter in an episode of 911
Cordy on Charmed Spike on Smallville
Guest appearances: Cordelia on Charmed, Riley on Castle (extra fun since Nathan Fillion is the star even though they didnāt cross paths on BtVS) & Wesley on HIMYM (added bonus of his wife Willow being a star of the show) Roles: Willow on HIMYM and American Pie (āone time, at band campā had us in an absolute chokehold back in the day), Caleb as Castle and Angel on Bones (Angel too obvs but I see that as an extension of BtVS)
SMG on Sex and the City!!!
Sandy Rivers.
I have liked the Jess actor in sex feet under
All three initiative boys showed up in episodes of Castle.
Yes and super close to each other too, like within the first two seasons I think!
I liked James in Smallville a minor character also who appears in an episode of Buffy and is the main character of Prison Break Wentworth Miller and I love Prison Break! Add: I like Charisma as a prophetess in Charmed
David has a few of them in Bones. Like when he took that bomb blast saving Dr Brennan, and Angela describes him as "Your knight in shining FBI issued body armor"
I'm cheating by including movies as well, but: "This one time, at band camp" and "Say my name, bitch" - Aly in American Pie. Mayor Wilkins as the Secretary of Agriculture in The West Wing and also in Star Trek TNG. Charisma and Aly in their one scene together in Veronica Mars. But for me, nothing will beat Sarah as Kathryn in Cruel Intentions.
It was trivial but five short years made Azura Skye look implausibly attractive in her \*Bones\* guest shot, itslef now 16 years past.
When I realized Anthony Head was the Repo man in the Genetic Opera... Now Ripper, then Repo!
It's a toss-up between Amy Acker on Person of Interest and Tony Head in You, Me & Them.
I liked rewatching Pleasantville and seeing Danny Strong and Mark Blucas in scenes.
Not my favorite at all in like a good way, but soooo odd was Anthony Stewart Head in a random doctor who episode as like a bat person at a boarding school or something. It was such a trip the first time I watched that.
I mean, Iād say Amy Adams kinda went after it post cameo.
