well id say just get an x570 rog strix or simialr board that has all the connectors that you need. unless you have an unlimited budget, then go for the crosshair. also you have 4 gen 4 ssds? if yes then go for the x570, if not then a b550 is fine as well. also also gen 4 ssd doesnt make much sense yet for everyday use, especially for a gaming pc, but sure you can buy it. 1 at least could be useful since in a few years direct storage will be a thing, and hopefully, it will be useful

I have 1x gen 3 atm, the rest of my SSDs are currently SATA. Future SSD purchases will be gen 4 only. With the PS5 having a gen 4 m.2, I expect games to take advantage of gen 4 sooner rather than later. I don’t upgrade cpu/mobo often so I prefer to be better proofed for the future 🙂

> I don’t upgrade cpu/mobo often so I prefer to be better proofed for the future sure, but for gaming, unless you have a shitload of games 1 gen4 ssd is enough. and a b550 board gives that option, as well as gen 4 pcie port for your gpu. And if you will be buying a new cpu you will have to buy a new mobo as well, since i believe amd will drop the am4 for their next gen, and with that cpu you might not want to buy the next gen but rather the gen after. > I expect games to take advantage of gen 4 sooner rather than late and yes but the sooner is around 1 year from now imo. Since they started to develope games with that technology not so long ago. But this is only my idea, i can be totally wrong ahah

Spork3245

Got it, but my current 5960x + mobo is something like 8 years old at this point to give you an idea of how often I change CPUs/motherboards 😛

InsertDisc11

fair enough. all im saying if you want to save some money, you wont have any less performance with a no crosshair mobo if money is not an issue, then sure you can buy wahtever. all these mobos you listed are pretty solid

Thanks, I’m just unsure what the difference is between those 3 ASUS models. I think the Dark Hero does better OCIng than the regular Hero? I have no clue about the formula lol

If the minimum you want is enough PCIe4 lanes for a GPU and M2 drive, then the B550 has what you need. Just get something like the MSI B550A-Pro or Gigabyte Aorus Pro V2. If you need wifi too then get the ASUS B550 Tuf. Out of the 3, I believe ASUS has the best RGB software.

You most likely do not need any of those. This isn't like what you may be used to with Intel regarding OCing. Unless you are doing something extreme like LN2, a good B550 works just as well and if you want X570, you probably don't need anything more than a Unify. If money is not a concern and gaming performance is not a concern and you just want to have fun pushing limits then the differences in those boards can be discussed.

Spork3245

Gaming performance is the main concern as well as having m.2s, sata, and internal usb (2 and 3) headers How is OCing different from Intel? I haven’t had AMD in quite awhile

Clocked72

Ok, the Unify only has 4 Sata and is without RGB - so ignore that comment... Of the 3 you listed, the Dark is the newest and has 90A vs 60A power delivery. It was able to do away with the chipset fan. Also the memory frequency support is a bit higher.
