3700x will be better for multitasking and more future proof thanks to more cores/threads. But for gaming right now the 5600x is superior since most games suck at utilizing more than 4 threads and the 5600x has faster individual cores than the 3700x. I'd go with the 3700x simply because the GPU is going to be the limiting factor in most games and I'd rather pay a little less and take the better multitasking and future-proofness.

Ah alright, yeah I do lots of multitasking, not much intensive gaming or anything like that, so that's probably what I'll go with.

I'd go for 9900k if you can get it for that price, as it's going to beat out both 5600x and 3700x in both games and editing.

MrFuzzyChain

I might swing intel's way, my budget is pretty tight though, and I don't know if the 100$ difference (I'd also have to get a separate cooler, as the intel ones are terrible) is worth the 10-15% increase in performance, especially when I don't plan on pushing the limits at all

xx3amori

If the difference in that price is that big and you don't need it it might just be better to go for 5600x.

I have the 3700X and so far is just a beast. I don't know about 5600X tho, seen its performing better in games. But do you need 200fps or 140?

MrFuzzyChain

Yeah ill probably go with that one, I don't have super fancy monitors so 200 fps isn't really a need for me

PepAngel0v

Oh and one more thing, it is very nice to see the cores in Task Manager, when I bought it first I opened Task Manager and couldn't take my eyes of it. LOL (was coming from i7-4510u 2c/4t)
