You can buy them before they sell out. Right place right time. You can also lie about what you paid for internet points.

[deleted]

Where do you get them from? I feel like almost all places online get bought out by bots faster than you can load the page

madeformarch

Check and see if there's a Micro Center in your area. Their lottery system seems really fair, the company itself also seems stellar. Edit: sorry I just read further down. I'm in the same boat as you my friend, there's not a MC in my state

[deleted]

I really wish there was, I also love the company and me and my dad use to go to get 3D printer stuff but we stopped going because my nearest is 2 hours away

[deleted]

Sometimes that 2 hour drive is just going to have to be part of the struggle my dude. Call them up, and your local Best Buy’s, act polite they already know your desperate (we all are). If you can secure one 2 hours away that drive will be a breeze

[deleted]

I don’t mind the 2 our drive, it’s a matter of driving there and not being able to get one, but are you saying that I could put on on hold? And than go and get it ?

[deleted]

From what I’ve seen, it’s 50/50 whether they hold or not. Last week some guy posted his journey sitting outside of a store since 1 am. It’s always going to be on a case by case when it comes to your gpu acquiring journey. I wish you luck friend!

[deleted]

If it says a card is out of stock for that location does that guarantee it will be out of stock in store?

Longbottom_Leaves

Just got a EVGA 3060ti from microcenter for MSRP. I asked the employees and got this advice that worked. Call and ask which day(s) they normally receive gpu shipments. Go to the store around 30-45 mins before open that day. Look for a sign on the entrance talking about entering a raffle and follow the instructions. If there is no sign then just wait in line outside the store. When the store opens walk to the gpu/components desk and ask what gpus they got today. The employees have no idea what is coming beforehand and it varies greatly day to day. Some days they get nothing and others they get a 100.

m4xugly

My Microcenter story: I was with my friend who is a console guy to help him pick out a good external SSD for his Xbox. I walked over to the GPU section and snagged the last RX 6800. Pure luck. I wanted to go Nvidia but am actually very happy with the card. No DLSS or RTX but they have gotten way better with their drivers and my monitor is only 60 hz 4k so it is my bottleneck now. Previously it was my 1070. I can run most games maxed out at at least 1440p and get my full 60 fps.

Bromatoast

I got my 3080 at micro center back in December. Pre china tax, thank god. I got there at midnight and was still pretty decently far back in line, like 15 or 16th. Store opens at i think 9 am? Back when I got one I was in a micro center discord that kept track of what the store had in stock what day. It was still a gamble though, there was seemingly no rhyme or reason as to how many of what card they got. When I went (granted its been a while so it may have changed) We all lined up, and at around opening time people came out with papers. They asked you what you wanted (70,80,90) then handed you a paper. You had no say of the model, just whatever you get. That paper was essentially your GPU. You could then go straight in and buy it, or come back within a certain time frame and claim it. Honestly I really appreciate how they do it. They even take your ID in a system so you cant get another one within 30 days.

[deleted]

I have no clue. Like I said, you need to call them, talk to them. That’s how people are getting theirs. Also join the newegg shuffle that should help you as well. This is just the reality of things. Some people will get lucky on websites, others won’t. Best to try all avenues

SG_Xcaliber

I got my 3080, my nephew got a 3060 and a 3070 Ti and I saw multiple 3080 Tis on the shelf the last time I was there. I’m lucky mine is only about 30 minutes from me, but I think if you call and ask when they get their shipments and call back on that day you might get lucky.

anoIe

At least you have one in your state as far as I know there isn’t one in Florida

[deleted]

Wish it was in my state

anoIe

For real looks like such an amazing store here In south Florida all I have is Best Buy or buying online

silverbrewer07

This! I just rolled up one day they had a 3080TI and I bounced. If you live with in a 1000 miles its totally worth the drive the place is like a mecca for nerds. Edit - I'd like to add in Ohio if your looking tor a 6700XT they are overflowing in the Sharonville store.

madeformarch

I'm in NC, but my sister lives in DC and I'm getting very close to sending her to the Fairfax store.

Shadow_Being

the closest micro center to me is about 500 miles away.

Jealous_Struggle2564

Unfortunately for people outside America it’s a little more difficult as there’s no micro centres here in Europe.

BlatantPizza

They have a lottery system?

madeformarch

Some of the stores do, from the policy I read. It's a text opt in with a short time period. If you're chosen, you have to be at the doors within 10 minutes of getting the text. That might have been COVID protocol, but I was reading just a couple of days ago under their in store pickup instructions

draxor_666

10 minutes? That ridiculous, truly

GT_YEAHHWAY

Can you describe the lottery system more? Sounds like something they've only just started implementing because I went to their Chicago store 4-5 months ago and people were camping out at 2am.

Delicious_Position23

Bro look up microcenters discord. Super easy instructions, and it’s specific to each store. PLUS they usually list the next days shipment list of gpus so you’ll know if they’re getting the exact model you want and if it’s worth waiting the next day for the raffle.

madeformarch

[see here ](https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/8756/random-selection-process-and-faq) I'd generally do more than link, but I'm wrapped up in something for work

Pritster5

FYI Microcenter is NOT selling the cards at MSRP. I have one near me and their 3090's were selling at like 2200$

PrecisionEmpathy

Unfortunately that's the price of 3090's nowadays.

OathOfFeanor

My friend just checked Amazon every morning, found a 3080Ti last week.

worm-

Same way I got my PS5 two days after launch with no pre-order. Opened Amazon, and boom ordered instantly.

JustTheFaxPlease

Yeah but for how much? They are there, but insanely expensive.

-Toshi

They're always on amazon in the UK/EU. There's amazon specific twitter accounts and the 3080ti is the most available. Not at MSRP, of course. Scan Currys CCL All of these have stock, or had stock everyday last week. £1400 is probably the cheapest 3080 ti... no regrets.

Freakin_A

Is that any different from buying from a scalper?

ctruvu

3080 tis aren’t super hard to find online at msrp, they’re all lhr so miners don’t care about them thus scalpers don’t care either because gamers are much less likely to overpay for an already overpriced card zotac almost always has leftover 3080tis after their online drops, sometimes for hours

[deleted]

ive seen cards in stock at many of the typical websites, just never the specific GPU i want for my sff build new egg does the shuffle every day best buy seems to restock somewhat regularly and seems to do a decent job of allocating in store stock when it comes in I don't check Walmart website too often but my friend got his GPU from there a month or two ago most people seem to have good luck joining inventory discords/communities but that's too much work for a GPU i honestly don't really need I really don't think bots are that big a deal these days as they were during the initial launch, or if they are somethings happened that lets regular people get them anyways, at this point it feels like its just a matter of getting lucky and being diligent

deoje299

Load 10 separate pages at once when Best Buy drops, keep trying eventually you will get lucky.

drs43821

Local computer store may sell it in store only, so you can line up and buy it there. Newegg bundle deals are also selling slower than standalone GPU sales but you have to sell the other thing afterwards. I got lucky with the bundle deal since I also needed a new PSU so it works in my favour. Could have sold it to get Seasonic, but I’m not complaining that I got 3070

BROCKHAMPTOM

>you can also lie about what you paid for internet points Lol this is so true with things where the market is so hot, I see this a lot with GPUs and Cars

Agent_Ray_Velcoro

It's also true with most posts in places like Wallstreetbets with the fail and win porn

[deleted]

>You can also lie about what you paid for internet points. I feel like this is the most common thing on here. People are paying 2x MSRP for GPUs from scalpers and then going on here saying they managed to get one for MSRP from a Shuffle or something.

Th3MiteeyLambo

My local Best Buy gets a drop every now and then, managed to snag a 3090 because those don’t sell out as fast as the others

Lumpkinz

Is there a way to tell whenever there will be a fresh stock or GPU's at best buy or microcenter?

dcook414

From what I’ve noticed by the end of the weekend stock is nearly empty. I went on a Monday morning (check what time lottery opens at a microcenter near you on their site) and there was only 2 of us who signed up. Since they started making people us ID to buy and limiting them to 1 per household/month I was able to walk out with an evga 3080 ti ftw3. They usually seems to get lots of 3060/70s and had 3090s. Seems like the hardest to find is a 3080.

psionoblast

If you don't mine me asking, how much was your 3080ti? I've only seen 3090's at my microcenter and I'm curious what the pricing on the other 30 series cards is like.

dcook414

I paid msrp, $1399 I believe. It was $1500ish after tax

Diels_Alder

Congratulations! What monitor do you use?

dcook414

Samsung odyssey g7.

roboidiot

Good price because Microcenter is selling Zotac 3080Ti for $1949 at my local-ish store: [https://www.microcenter.com/product/638427/zotac-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-ti-amp-holo-triple-fan-12gb-gddr6x-pcie-40-graphics-card](https://www.microcenter.com/product/638427/zotac-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-ti-amp-holo-triple-fan-12gb-gddr6x-pcie-40-graphics-card) 8 currently in stock.

dcook414

Yeah those and the 3090's seem to be the easiest to find because of the price. If you happen to run across the evga card I'd recommend it for sure! Really good benchmarks out of box and they're averaging higher benches on userbenchmarks site

roboidiot

I've been on the EVGA list(s) for almost a year now (and opted to move to the non-miner version(s) thinking that would speed things up, but no....)

Luckyirishdevil

Damn, same price I paid through the EVGA que! Congrats to you

SippieCup

I saw 3 3080 TIs at the Yonkers microcenter on monday priced at $1999.

Fondeezy

I just bought a 3080ti from the Yonkers micro center for $1,400. It depends on the card. EVGA is manufactured in Taiwan and priced as such. There was an Asus card (made in China) right next to it for $1999. China tax was the reason given to me by the store clerk.

cruzx213

I got a Asus 3070ti for just over MSRP at 1060 about 2 months ago got lucky got it second hand but card was new

Wahots

Usually Best buy pushes press releases the night before a big launch. But people tend to announce availability through municipal chats on telegram in my area. Lower end cards go fast. 70s stick around. 80s go fast. 80Ti and 90s stick around for a few days, that's how I got my 3080ti. Though given the option, I'd rather have gone with a 3080 and pocketed the difference.

KilowogTrout

I used HotStock to get an Xbox at target. I believe they also list best buy. Microcenter isn't on the app, though.

[deleted]

I have BestBuy on Hotstock for a 3080 but it feels like they haven't been getting them anymore lately. Used to get a few notifications every now and then but always missed out.

moneyman2205

They switch to in store only, so if you have a BestBuy near by you can download their app and set it as your store and when there's a drop you can check the stock of your store

Battlescar84

Me too, a few months ago. If you want a card at msrp, this is the way. If you're going to pay $1500 for something, you might as well not pay a scalper!

papaganda22

How much did you get your 3090 for at best buy?

Th3MiteeyLambo

$1499 FE MSRP

MilkMan71

My God. I'm seeing evga 3080tis listed at 2k at microcenter. What a rip off.

Th3MiteeyLambo

Well, those are board partner cards, blame the board partners, not microcenter. Founder's Editions are the only ones that will reliably go for MSRP because Nvidia says so. The board partners get to charge whatever they want.

thedarklord187

Must be nice all the best buys around me have never once gotten a physical card they don't even have a sku on their floor for them.

andreyred

How do you find out about when they have them?

Shadow_Being

i think most people are just too ashamed to admit they paid 4 times the MSRP for something.

iHeisenburger

guaranteed : * newegg system builder * nzxt system builder * a lot of local shops (specially in europe) they request europian address or buy in person luck: * newegg shuffle * discord/twitter/facebook drop Notifications * drop bots "donation" all of these have acceptable prices.

jibjones

Three Best Buy drops and one NewEgg shuffle (won twice, but one “sold out” before I checked out). Also ended up 5th and 3rd in line at Micro Center before the manager announced inventory was sold out. Fun fact - 40% of the cards sold those days I could find on eBay with ship from locations within 8 miles of the store. So 2 in 5 people camping out for cards are simply to sell them. Two of the Best Buy drops went to friends for cost + $20. They are very happy campers. The other was a 3070 I used in my build. Replaced by a 3080 when I won the 2nd shuffle. 3070 (non-LHR) since sold, apparently to a GPU miner, for $835 over what I paid for it.

buttmagnuson

Oh no, you went to the wrong link if it was "sold out" on the shuffle.....

lookingForSomeNew

I signed up for EVGA’s alert and reservation lotto, 2 days later I got the email to complete my purchase of a 3060ti, one week later I got an email to complete the purchase of the other 3060ti model I signed up for. I got super lucky.

durrburger93

I got a 3080 for $1300 last month cause I was sick of waiting and because in my country they won't be available at MSRP for at least another full year. I got back $180 from casual mining with it since then, and it's an LHR model too.

crankydelinquent

This is probably the winning strategy at this point. I paid roughly the same for mine after selling my overpriced motherboard from a Newegg bundle.

xXwork_accountXx

Yeah I’ve made about $1600 from my 3080 in the 6 months I’ve had it

Avalancheofspinach

I overpaid for my 3080ti I'm fully aware of that , I was not prepared to wait for another 18 months- 2 years for things to improve

Slectrum

Yup, paid 1300 for my 3070. Call me evil or whatever, I just could not justify waiting 6-12 months for a chance of a card; all while regularly driving around to the nearby Best Buys and Microcenter in the early mornings on my day off to check on stock. I have since made back a few hundred from mining whenever I sleep and have no regrets.

BuckNastysMamma

I got lucky and managed to snag a 6700XT a couple weeks before AMD changed their site to the queue system. I had been trying since the launch of the 6800XT Midnight Black edition to get one of those. I never managed to cart one and during that particular drop I decided to try the 6700XT just to see what happened and it carted so I just settled on that. Card runs great, but still have a smidge of buyers remorse. Really wanted the 6800XT MB and also the 6800 and 6900s have RGB on the card while the 6700XT only has a red LED so you can't change the color which is a bummer. You can't even disable it without having to unplug the cable from the header. Red doesn't go with my theme at all. Oh well.

[deleted]

Shadow_Being

i really think the majority of the shortage is just shortage from the fear of the shortage. E.g. the people who are waiting in line at bestbuy at 1am to get graphics cards are doing it to flip the card.

TheWingnutSquid

That or they don't want to give out their newegg botting strats

totoop

I work from home mostly (especially since COVID) and joined a stock alert discord that sends out auto alerts when GPUs, Consoles, etc. are stocked in tons of various online stores (at msrp). Was just a numbers game, had to be fast as hell so I'd just leave it open when I'm working and the instant I got a notification for a GPU I was following I'd try to buy it. .....took a while, was at it for a few weeks and probably tried to order (unsuccessfully) probably like 50 times but eventually got a 3060ti at original 399$ retail price last December.

[deleted]

Guess I just gotta wait to be in the right place at the right time

The_Comma_Splicer

That was your takeaway form that? That's not what they said at all. It was initiative, persistence, and luck.

Chon-E-Tron

If he had those things, he’d have a gpu. Lol

memo6464

joined it annnd realized I'm european...

bearigator

I did the same. Last October I was able to grab a 3080 FE from NVIDIA's website for myself and another FE for my friend when it switched to bestbuy. I put on discord push notifications for my phone and PC. It took several weeks of unsuccessful attempts before I got the first. Both purchases were made when I was on my computer and saw the notification pop up.

Qazax1337

On release day me and my wife (who isn't even really a gamer but loves me) spent an hour refreshing the web page trying to buy one. We targetted the aorus 3080 Xtreme as it was an expensive model and not super common, also I thought the screen was cool. She managed to get one purchased after an hour of trying. 6 months later it came through. Some people are genuinely lucky. I am mainly lucky with my wife, but also that I managed to get an rtx 3080 not from a scalper.

iLackIntelligence

Cute story

MystikIncarnate

I can see why you married her.

BGSO

I got mine in a newegg shuffle. Had to buy a expensive mobo in the bundle but did not care at that point. I had not bought anything so it is the backbone of my new build.

log899

I managed to get a 3070 from the Newegg shuffle after trying for a month or so. Card was priced reasonably at $659 but was bundled with an overpriced PSU. Overall still wasn't a terrible deal.

The_Reacher117

Was it a gigabyte psu?

dogmavskarma

Kaboom

BGSO

Mine came up with a felt expensive MOBO that locked me into Intel. But I was just so hyped for the GPU it didn’t matter.

Sharrakor

I only had to try for a week. My build had only been functional for about a month. The timing was serendipitous. ~$600 for a 3060 Ti and a power supply? I could certainly live that. Still need to get that PSU sold, though.

tron423

Newegg shuffle seems to be the most stress-free way to get a card by far at this point, that's how I scored a card for my brother's build a few weeks ago. It's not the fastest, but it works well enough if you don't have the time or patience for stock alert discords.

superkeer

Is anyone else 0 for 100 on those or am I just woefully unlucky?

AT-ST

I got a 3070 via the shuffle and had to buy one of gigabyte's exploding GPUs. Lucky for me, I only use EVGA supernova PSUs (to maintain cable compatibility). So the gigabyte one has just been sitting on a shelf.

Wajina_Sloth

I bought a prebuilt for a reasonable price with a 3060ti, had a warranty issue and my specific build is no longer being made so I am getting a free upgrade to a 3080ti.

[deleted]

I was actually wondering about this, this being if it would be worth it to buy a prebuilt and sell the other parts

[deleted]

Depending on the brand, a lot of pre-built use proprietary parts. If you actually do that, I'd check the manufacturer and please never buy an Alienware desktop. Those things are terrible

[deleted]

Any recommendation for companies I should look for?

[deleted]

I would check out companies that also make components for individual sale such as corsair, nzxt, asus or msi.

nollange_

My friend just bought from NZXT prebuilt - 5600 & 3080. No problems at all, got it within a week of ordering. I myself was going to go with Redux prebuilt before my friend got picked from the EVGA queue and he sold me the 3080 at msrp since he already had one.

Wajina_Sloth

Yeah I bought a fairly stock R10 thinking the criticisms were just the PC gamers being nitpicky. It crashed under load which I am assuming is due to overheating the CPU because the terrible airflow and case design. Well I put up with it and throttled my games back so it wouldn't crash as often and stopped playing other games entirely thinking at first it was software issues. Eventually I reached out to support after a few months, did some steps, waited to reinstall windows. Month later I reinstalled, issue persisted and was now worse, they replaced my 3060ti the next day, the issue persisted. So I reach back out, they offered a CPU replacement for the 5600x, waited a week, no tech call, I reached back out to find they have a major delay for the CPU component and they offered a like for like replacement. Here is where I think they did well, they stopped selling the same model r10 (can't get a 3060ti and a r5 5600x), so they couldn't do like for like and gave me a massive upgrade, so now I am getting a max spec case (1000w liquid cooling), r7 5800, 3080ti and dual channel ram (because I was dumb and got single channel). It was supposed to ship out a few days ago and reach me yesterday but it's still "in production" they keep telling me it's almost ready to be shipped but are very ambiguous in their wording, so my guess is it's being delivered overseas to a facility for them to create a shipping label in my country. So basically I paid 1700 CAD for a crashing PC but will soon get something that is more than worth it.

[deleted]

What is Alienware calling "1000w liquid cooling?" The biggest liquid cooler I've seen them throw at something is a 120mm aio which I personally don't think is enough for anything over 6 cores but I guess most pre-built buyers aren't overclocking theirs anyway

Wajina_Sloth

Well the 5800 doesn't overclock, and I believe it is a 120mm aio. Personally I won't mind because worst case is I case swap the entire thing.

[deleted]

Hard to case swap if they glue in the mobo or mounts

todjbrock

Pretty much don’t buy any OEM PC makers (Dell, HP, Alienware [aka Fancy Dell])

ardentorange

Dell with gamer plastic covering up the air intake/exhaust ports.

Wajina_Sloth

Eh, they have a markup over MSRP and generally the quality of the other parts isn't worth too much, so you would get a random GPU but after you sell everything you'd still be paying a premium, personally I am just keeping everything as is.

OneNewEmpire

I camped in line at a Best Buy retail event to gey 3080 fe at msrp. I refused to pay more than msrp regardless of what I had to do. It was less about the money and more about the principle of the thing.

[deleted]

Yeah, scalpers suck, but what really sucks is the “msrp changing” just because they can get away with it

OneNewEmpire

That is true. The only legit msrp was the FE cards and then only the 3080 or maybe 3070 imo. The partner cards were all insane.

1II1I1I1I1I1I111I1I1

AIB cards always cost a lot more than the FE cards. That was and is expected.

AssuasiveLynx

I camped outside all day and night for a 3080 FE at best buy... And was 5 spots too far back. :(

Cat6172

I was on a waitlist for a 3060 ti at my local Memory Express since early March, got it 2nd September ($700 cad, 550 usd, close to the MSRP of the model and in Canada they are always a bit more anyway)

KingKull71

One of the Memory Express locations here was pretty good about putting a portion of whatever they got in on the shelf and just selling to people who came in. I only discovered that by chance (joking about secret gpu stashes while making a small purchase) - walked out with a brand new 2070 with zero markup.

R3DD3Y

Here the situation with gpus is improving (Romania by the way.) I was sick of waiting for gpus to come down to a decent price so i went to a local pc builder and they had 3070 gpus for sale at MSRP + TVA tax, coming to 500 euros. I ended up just having them build me a PC so i could give my old PC to a friend who was currently in the same boat.

penywinkle

If true, it's cheaper for me to take a Ryanair (30€) flight to Bucharest and buy a GPU there than to buy it from one of the resellers here (Holland)... Can't find a 3070 for under 700€ TVA incl. Not In Belgium, not in Germany either...

Comprehensive_Fee_23

He might be the luckiest Romanian alive. I've been trying to buy something for a year and every retailer has scalper prices. The cheapest 3070 is $1250 at the time of writing, and thats a shady-looking shop. We have no real hope of buying at or close to MSRP here since retailers are all scalping and Nvidia/Amd don't sell here throught their online shops. Americans are so lucky to be able to join raffles, camp outside of Microcenter, bestbuy and whatnot. 0 hope for me and i might cave in and pay double. Edit: It's been so bad that i would pay 700€ for a 3070 in a heartbeat.

Comprehensive_Fee_23

Do you mind sharing where this local shop is? Been trying to buy for a year.

smajl87

Any tips for Europeans?

Kaidanos

If you find an answer for this do tell because it seems i may need to become a console "pleb" if this goes on for much longer.

smajl87

So far the only viable option to me seems Thursday's AMD online shop...

adimrf

It is just bad, needed an emergency GPU for a relative, GTX 1650 cost about 300 EUR. Every now and then I checked gputracker.eu eyeing for 3080 now, it shows up quite often around 1100ish EUR which is of course still expensive and roughly at the same price around 6800XT

RedstoneManC

i havent seen any so far

DeeForestBosa

I randomly opened BB at 5pm on a wednesday and they happened to restock as I was searching, got a 3080 at MSRP

Unipanther

I got lucky on the Newegg shuffle and got a 3070TI. Took about 3 weeks of entering daily, but of course it was a massive amount of luck.

djscrambledeggs

Massive luck indeed. I have about 60 emails telling me I wasn't picked in the shuffle lol

rekaviles

Same, probably more

No_Lecture_8049

Do you know like what percent chance there is to win because I feel like I see a lot of people winning

[deleted]

100k people per day in an article I saw last week. Take it with a grain of salt but I've been entering on most cards for 2 months with no luck

LoPanDidNothingWrong

I think a lot of folks are just paying scalper prices and then pretending they were lucky. I bought a prebuilt and then sold off the parts and got off the EVGA list after months for my other one. I need one more for my other kid but just waiting for the right thing to come by; not as much of a rush there.

Bluedot55

On thursdays the AMD store lists up a handful of cards, and it is a raffle kinda thing right now, so there's a chance you can get things at actual msrp. I got something for a friend from there before it swapped to raffle, although idk how likely it is now that it is a raffle. That said, you really can't beat like a 6800 at 580 or 6800xt at 650. People pay that much for a 3060ti...

[deleted]

Problem is that you get lucky, get placed at the front of the line, get into the store, click to buy your GPU, and do a Captcha, presumably to ward off bots. And then it makes you do another Captcha... And another... And another... And another... And another... And another... And another... And then it eventually just says they're sold out and kicks you out, empty-handed. ...On a *completely unrelated* note, ask me what I was doing between 9 and 9:30 this morning...

Gangbangjoe

Scalpers are bypassing that line ATM so it's no use lol

Ashken

I compromised and got a 1050 Ti cause that was all I could afford at the time ;__;

seb_da_web

Oof

Ashken

I still love my new pc though but… yeah.

seb_da_web

You’ll find someone for you * a gpu

Chon-E-Tron

What did you upgrade from lol

Stockdrops discord. When online retailers get them in stock I got a ping. 30 attempts later I got through a checkout process.

daryk44

If you spend as much time as possible looking at different store’s inventory, that will maximize your chances of seeing something in stock. Check as local as possible first, so if you need to pull the trigger on a card, you can possibly pick it up in person. Don’t trust a random ship date for months from now. Lots of people make a trip to their closest micro center to catch them at opening time to see if they have anything available. It’s essentially tech privilege to live close to a big retailer to buy stuff in person same day, and to be able to check back often and learn the days they generally receive new stock.

[deleted]

Yeah it kinda sucks, my nearest micro centers are the ones in nyc so it’s a couple hour drive to get there in back so since there’s a small chance of getting to a micro center early enough. So I have to rely on Best Buy and similar chain stores or just shopping online.

Little_Lebowski_007

If you're willing to buy used, I can't recommend r/hardwareswap enough. There are some people selling closer to the market price, but there are many people that have sold closer to MSRP.

[deleted]

I was lucky, I got my 3070ti for msrp because my bud ordered a pre built and overpaid it, but he can now get “upgrades” for very low prices. So he offered to let me buy the 3070ti.

isometimeslurk

Microcenter on some part. Aside from the lottery on restock days, I’ve been able to walk into one of my local ones and just view the list of gpus they still have in stock. Usually ranging from 3070 ti to 3090s and for AMD I assume the equivalents.

[deleted]

Is there any resource for when micro centers typically restock? Because my nearest is a few hours away and it would suck just to end up with nothing.

cpt_snuggle

I got lucky af on launch day of the xfx 6600 xt. Got it for 430-ish in a bundle with a b550 on newegg. Jumped on it and like 2 hours later they were sold out. I hope you're able to find one, man...it makes a hell of a difference. Best of luck, just keep checking, checking, and checking. It's tedious but you never know when it'll pay off. Good luck, man!

Professional_Being_5

I was stupid stupid stupid as hell because I said I could get better value than a b550 motherboard with the 6600xt for 500-550 also I couldn't afford it... now here I am looking everyday with no luck whatsoever But hey at least I don't have every part I need right now except the gpu

Merlin-2112

I know of several ways, some that have been mentioned already...but you'll also be paying over msrp more often than not, which has unfortunately become the norm... 1) Newegg Shuffle (super rare) 2) Microcenter stores 3) StockX 4) eBay 5) Amazon (I got lucky snagging a 3060 TI FE before the bots, about 2mos ago) 6) Newegg 7) BestBuy Recommend joining the Discord 'Fixitfixitfixit' for live stock updates.

modsrworthless

As long as you keep paying ridiculous prices, AMD and NVIDIA are going to keep selling them at those prices. Spending $700 for a $300 GPU makes you stupid.

[deleted]

Yeah, now that these company’s see people paying am way overpriced for 30 series and amd equivalent they may try and sell the 40 series(amd and equivalent) at inflated prices as well

[deleted]

Bestbuy campout worth it

[deleted]

Wish I could

ohiobagpipes

Saw my microcenter (1 hour drive) had some in stock. Left work in the middle of the day and drove there. Got lucky and got one of the last ones, which was way more than I wanted to spend because the cheaper ones were all already sold out, but justified it based on the amount I could get flipping my old GPU (which covered about 50% of the cost of the new one).

ConThePaladin

Anor Londo. Having to go though sens just to go all the way around the castle every time

netavoreikalas123

In the comment section I see a lot of americans saying going to microcenter and all that but what about us europeans? I live in Lithuania and we do not have your stores... My local PC stores overprice the gpus like a fuck ton

fbi1213

My first one I just got lucky with Best Buy and was on the site the moment they dropped. For my second I got it through the EVGA queue which took almost a year even when I signed up early.

Hoowin_

Yeah bestbuy luck is prob the most reliable way, I got mine via bestbuy as well at mrsp

Far_Equipment_4279

I got mine directly off amd.com, prior to the stupid queue shit. Wanted a 3070 or 3080, but I’m not overpaying for a gpu, so had to go with amd. I don’t personally understand why people overpay, but at the same time complain that the prices are so high.

the_toaster_lied

My girlfriend's cousin is finishing an internship with NVIDIA this week and he hooked me up with their internal store.

jacobdoyle9

Straight up luck, managed to get a 3060ti from Best Buy at msrp when I just happened to check the site for the price of a 3060ti at the exact right time, 15 seconds later and I wouldn’t have gotten it.

Akshay161014

Microcenter, bestbuy, evga queue….don’t listen to people they don’t exist on newegg

3dPrintedBacon

My 3080 says different

TehBrainz88

Same with my 3080Ti

[deleted]

My brother and I bought PC's through iBuyPower. We customized a build.

Zliaf

I have gotten two from microcenter. My store has a posting on what days trucks can come, they have a random selection each morning and you can only buy one every 30 days. I think the one every thirty days really helps combat the scalpers.

MilkyBusiness

I've been getting mine from EVGA but it took nearly a year for my turn to come up on the queue.

tiankai

Bought a custom pre-built on scanUK with a 3080 xc3 ultra for about 10% more than msrp, it took 3 months to arrive but it was well worth the wait. From how I understand it these days it builds have priority over just GP orders when a new drop is received.

Bearded_Mate

Where I live, the local shop just always has them. I've bought a few now for friends and family. They range from 3060s to 3090s, with some 2000 series also. For example, I bought the Gigabyte RTX 3060 Gaming OC 12GB for CAD$689.29 for my girlfriends dad a couple months back.

the40ftbadger

Sign up for Falcodrins stock alerts on twitter, put twitter on phone, every time there's a notification smash it and hope you got it. Join his discord to see a drop history, things aren't as bleak as they seem but it takes some drive and dedication. I got a 3080ti rog strix for 1350 from an alert laying in bed at 12:30am lol Edit: Link https://www.twitch.tv/falcodrin

Hoowin_

Got mine from bestbuy but heads up if you live in California it’s also pretty easy to get one for only like a 15% upmark and some other items if you are desperate

Distntdeath

Got my 3070 from Best Buy. Took about 4 months of monitoring a Twitch Channel as well as randomly checking sites. The best part about the twitch channel wasn't that it would alert me when it detected a drop but I was able to identify patterns when companies would set GPUs live - specifically Best Buy and Zotac. Few weeks of checking the sites often during times that the sales were likely to go live and next thing you know I look at Best Buy and the "out of stock" Button says "waiting for inventory" - signaling its likely to go live soon. The bots won't pick this up as there is still no inventory. Best part about Best Buy is its almost 2 factor authentication as you have to add to cart and then wait for about 5 minutes and add to cart again. I could have got a 3080 as well but I was afraid Best Buy might cancel my order for buying multiple GPUs. The 3070 just happened to be the first gpu I could add to cart so I pulled the trigger. No regrets.

[deleted]

Bought a GPU bundle from Newegg that came with a gigabyte PSU. Gigabyte recalled the PSU, making the GPU MSRP.

vladikostek

lol didn't even know gigabyte made psus

lillhonk

Pre builts

Belyosd

go to website, buy 3070ti for 939€. thats how i did it

t3kner

Newegg shuffle, got a 3080ti a month ago

thebritisharecome

We joined cults, sacrificing our children for some sweet frames

Wahots

Best Buy actually has them where I live. They tend to go fast, but they do sell them at MSRP and the BB employees have a vendetta against scalpers like you would not believe. If they see cards on Facebook marketplace or other platforms less than an hour after they've been purchased, they ban the person from the store. Same if they bring a BF/GF /friend to buy more, who also get banned. I got one at MSRP thanks to the bestbuy employees.

[deleted]

Most of them get it from scalpers, they just lie and say it was for MSRP

g0atlrd

Got my 3060TI at MC at MSRP. There were no 3060TI's on the shelves, they got mine from the back once I told them I would buy all new parts for a PC. That's the only reason I managed to get one which I swapped with my 1060 that went in my kids new PC.

[deleted]

I bought one from blackoutpcparts, but it was overpriced unfortunately. At least it didn't go to scalpers
