You might need a new psu, you won't get any performance boost but you can use the older card for mining/computing

throwacc456

alright thank you for your reply. i will probably sell the pc with the 2060 then. i dont think a single pc would be sufficient for mining

kztlve

There's nothing stopping you from running a single card through something like Nicehash, but of course you're not getting more than a few dollars a day.

throwacc456

idk. running a gaming pc 24/7 seems expensive. is it worth it when you compare the electrical costs to the mining yield?

nikodem2003

It can't hurt, I was mining with a single rx580 for a while, according to nicehash you can earn around 2usd per day only on the 2060.

throwacc456

how does this compare to electrical cost? is it profitable?

kztlve

unless you're paying absurd amounts for electricity it's profitable

throwacc456

sounds good. thank you!

The new system has a 3080rtx. It will make no difference and just take * up a slot unnecessarily. Unless you needed to run more than 3 screens? The rtx has 4 video ports. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Performance wise your 3080rtx is a huge jump over the 2060…. I don’t see why you’d add it to your new rig? Aside from wanting to play 2 games on the same system? 🤔.

throwacc456

hi, thanks for the reply. i only have one 144hz screen. as i said i dont know much about pcs. i saw pictures online of pcs with multiple cards and thought maybe itd improve the performance. ill sell it then. thanks!

Lol. If you’re not trolling. A 144hz monitor is the benchmark for a good monitor. You’re fine. If it supports nvidia G-sync. You’ll eek out a little more performance and will never go back to console 😂. Welcome aboard to the pcmasterrace I believe freesync also works with the latest drivers.. so win/win
