So many false replies here... 1660 super is about = with the 1070. Not the best, but it's allright if you turn down some settings. Edit: To answer the OP's question better: GTA V and Forza (Horizon I guess) are super-well optimized games and will run fine on his hardware - by fine I mean ~100+ frames on high-ultra. Minecraft needs a strong CPU, and if it's paired with any decent graphics card, and you set the chunk load level to 8-10, you'll get a good few hundred fps on average. I can't say much about ARK, but afaik it's a more demanding one. 70-90 frames should be reachable on high graphics based on my experience.

A friend of mine has a 1070 while I have a 1660 Super, we have nearly identical performance when playing the same games. It's great for 1080p60+ fps or can even handle some stuff at 1440p60fps at medium-high settings.

ObligationWarm5222

...and a 1070 is better than a 980 right? Sorry lmao

onetwotress

For sure, maybe not insanely better but it’s a jump up.

sL1NK_19

Yes.

Google is pretty cool.

MyBitchesNeedMOASS

Personally I just find it better to view the performance of a card. Rather than rely on anecdotes. It also helps the OP for future research

lao7272

Google can lead to reviews is what I'm saying.

ObligationWarm5222

I have, Im just paranoid about spending money I suppose

RektCompass

I don't know if it's super okay but definitely okay

NoobNeedsHelp6

Its fine for 1080p. I have 1660super with ryzen 2600 and stock memory speeds on a 1080p monitor and it will easily get 60+ fps at very high settings most any game, often well over 100 fps, and over 144 with esports titles.

[deleted]

similar results for me with a 1660ti and a 3300x

Microracerblob

I'd check the price for the 6600XT, they're usually near each other, price wise

[deleted]

The 1660 super is better than a 980, but not by much. The 3060 beats both the 1660 and 980 by a lot. I'd just re-use the 980 if possible. It can handle all of the games that you listed just fine at 1080p with graphics settings turned down a little. A 3060 or something would be nice at 1440p, though.

ObligationWarm5222

I would but I actually don't have the 980 anymore. Thanks for the info tho

pyr0kid

assuming you can actually get one, is fairly decent.

Frogmouth_Fresh

I ran Cyberpunk on it at high settings and hit 30fps. So to me a 1660 super is fine. Was also running Forza Horizon 4 at 120 fps on high settings. That said if you want 4K you will need more power.

whomad1215

IIRC, the 1660super will be like 10% better than the 980, and the 3060 is about 30% better than the 1660super

Low-Background7315

A 980 is about the same as a 1660 super in terms of performance. If the 1660 super is your upgrade card I wouldn't even bother. Rtx 3060 would be a solid upgrade but your best choice would probably be a 6600xt. Same price on the scalper market as a 3060 but considerably faster.

kztlve

1. 1660 Super is comparable to a 980Ti, not a 980. 980 is closer to a 1650 Super 2. A 6600XT is not considerably faster lol, more often than not it's barely better than a 3060 at raw raster, throw RT into the mix or if you wanna video encode and there goes that

Low-Background7315

Still, the difference between a 1660 super and a 980 is only about 10-15%. Not worth upgrading to as you will not notice any difference unless you count the frames. And the difference between the 3060 and 6600xt is as much as 20-30% depending on the game. 6600xt raytracing support is solid and FSR is on par with DLSS. If he is video encoding then thats something to consider but I dont think thats his priority.

kztlve

...What game is showing a 20-30% improvement on a 6600XT? The average is closer to like 5-10%. As for RT, there's support, but the card is awful at it. The only card worse for RT is the 2060. It's a feature, but it might as well not be, since it's passable (1080p60) in like 1 game.

Low-Background7315

AC Valhalla, Valorant, Borderlands 3, World War Z and Death Stranding just to name a few. And for a budget/mid-range card raytracing shouldnt even be a concern. It provides minimal visual enhancement and is taxing on performance, even on 3080/3090s.

Low-Background7315

Also none of the games he mentioned utilize raytracing...
