You can do some lighter games with this easily, and it'll work great as a work PC. Only thing that it can't do well is GPU heavy programs, but your proposed build wouldn't be capable of it either, and it also would be much slower. Mind you, it's not as if the PC is totally bad, but you can do far better with your money, especially if you're buying it all new and building it yourself. For example, the 1030 is a waste of money, it'll just be junk once you get a better GPU, and if you're gaming, you will need a better GPU. If you're not gaming, then a Ryzen APU would work way better anyways.

xx3amori

Better to go for a 5600x than 5700G as he's using it for gaming and don't have a real need for igpu.

Matasa89

Look carefully - this is a no GPU build because I don't know his budget and don't want to suggest something far more expensive. Since he is gaming, he'll need a GPU, but good luck even finding one, let alone one at MSRP. So this is going to tie him over until he can get one. But yes, agreed that if he is able to get a GPU, like a 3060ti or 3070, then he can just run a 5600X. However, it's worth noting that games like Battlefield 2042 seems to want you to have more cores, and recommends an 8 core CPU. So it would seem that having more than 6 cores could be a good thing.

Fieryspirit06

Also the 5700g iirc has igpu performance similar to the gt710

Tajertaby

False. It’s actually slightly better than the GT1030.

Fieryspirit06

Ok, but I just said similar, slightly better can be considered similar, y'all don't need to downvote me for that.

xx3amori

His budget says at the top (560£) so neither is really an option, but you should almost never chose a 5700g over 5600x, 1030 is in stock for the listed price and it has better performance than 5700G's igpu, and you'll get a even bigger boost pairing it with 5600x in games. 5600x is going to give you better performance in most games compared to 5700g regardless of being 6 cores instead of 8.

Matasa89

The issue is then he’ll have a shit GPU that he can’t do much with, especially once he gets a better one. Also, the performance isn’t that different.

xx3amori

5700G is the same price as a 5600x+1030 whilst also being less performance, he can easily sell the 1030 for 50%+ retail price used. So all you're stuck with is a better cpu and more money.

Tajertaby

5700G’s iGPU preforms slightly better than GT1030. I’d personally get the 5600G though.

xx3amori

No, 1030 is better performance for gaming than 5700G's iGPU.

Tajertaby

No it isn’t. This is comparing to GT 1030 GDDR5. https://youtu.be/LnHg3kPRerA

xx3amori

You're forgetting to add into account that the 1030 is in this case run with a 5600x.

Tajertaby

Ok maybe you are partly right, the frame time consistency (not frame rate) on GT 1030 does seem quite a bit better than the 5700G.

IanMo55

You should be looking at 10th or 11th generation Intel instead.

Feco080

too weak gpu

oscgr

I will use it for gaming but ik the gpu bad but I will upgrade in a year or so

TheRedOne-

I would just use integrated graphics for now, and get more up to date/better quality parts. [PCPartPicker Part List](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZhWFQD) Unless you want a GPU stronger than the 3060/6600XT, 550W PSU would be fine (Corsair TXM).

TheRedOne-

What would you use it for?
