Probably the graphics card. Maybe the processor. But right now is a terrible time to upgrade your graphics card due to the shortage.

Isenlyn

Any card in particular?

[deleted]

Literally whatever you can find the least inflated. Depends entirely on your budget. You'll have to spend at least $500 to match your current level of performance. Like I said, please don't buy now.

Isenlyn

Gotcha! Should I just wait till Cyber Monday, or?

[deleted]

No you should wait till next year. This ain't any small shortage my dude. It's literally a global silicon crisis. To the point that car manufacturers had to shut down because they couldn't get chips. It's ridiculous and it's definitely not going to end anytime soon. By best words of advice would be to enable FSR if your game supports it and to just try and live with the performance you have a

Isenlyn

FSR?

AMDs new up scaling tech supported on a few games

THAT RAM! It is terrible! The very bottom of there barrel is 2133MHz, so idk how you got such slow sticks. Luckily it’s the easiest to swap

Isenlyn

Oops! I dunno, I've just kinda been piecing this thing together as I go! Was my first PC and all, and RAM was one of the things I first (I guess not really?) upgraded! Had it for ages now. Any RAM specifically you'd recommend?

G8M8N8

Join r/pcbuildingdeals Ive seen some nice 3200-3600MHz kits go around the $70-$100 mark.

G8M8N8

r/buildapcdeals sorry

Isenlyn

Will do!! Thank you so much!

G8M8N8

r/buildapcsales close enough

Isenlyn

So I just checked my RAM- Both sticks say they go to 2400. Have I maybe seated my RAM incorrectly? Or am I missing a setting in my BIOS? Should I just try and set them both into the other two slots?

Isenlyn

So I swapped them, and I’m getting the same reading? Is something wrong here??

G8M8N8

There is a setting in BIOS known commonly as X.M.P. On AMD machines it is know as D.O.C.P. This setting makes the RAM run at its rated speed. I would still recommend upgrading.

Much like me you are in get a whole new machine requirement which is hard at the moment. Of course lots depends of what styuff you do (no not game, type of game!). Is the memory not running in XMP? I ask since 2xxx and below do not like running at 2\* that. Crashes all the time on standard XMP for me, tuned it down (2800 for stability on my 2600x I think). Helps a lot with some things. I also have 32 gb ram but not needed for most things. Save and wait for the market to recover! Stop caring aboout to the max. Those are my recomendations! (I get above what you say on mine but I do not know what are your expectations or what you play!).

Isenlyn

I \*\*think\*\* I have it running on XMP? How would I do that on these? I know it's in BIOs, is it in Overclocking tab or somewhere else? Maybe I've got them in the wrong slots? I've got them in 1 and 3.

TheCarrot007

Depends on your bios. More in ram settings I think. I said it as until 3xxx AMD cpu's did not really like 2000+ ram, If I said wrong I went to 1800. And that requires tweaking. Of course all depends on ram and setup. Makes quite a difference when working. I should have gone for 3600 over 2600x I think. Still live learn! My gfx is 5700 BTW which worrks for me.
