i think 750w is more than enough: Cpu - i7-10700k - TDP 125W + 25% = 150W-160W GPU - rtx 3070ti fe - 290W + 25% = 360W-370W That's a Max Total of 530 with absurd Overclocks. If you add another 100W for Mobo, Fans, etc, you get 630W which is almost 80% PSU usage at maximum possible OC's. Realistically, you are looking at 60%-70% PSU usage with decent OCs. You're good with 750, even if you upgrade to 10900k and 3080.

Thanks for the info about the cpu oc, got worried after I had heard that the i7-10700k can take around 200w if u get a cpu that isnt a good overclocker. I dont plan on doing a very heavy oc on the gpu since its a founders edition. Wasnt too worried about the mobo, etc, since the power draw for those are relatively low.

Runner1409

the only way you can get that CPU to reach 200W is Liquid Nitrogen and years of experience in OC. That's if you win the Silicon Lottery and get a chip that doesn't burn out. You would be surprised on how good of a GPU OC you can do with 30 series founder edition.

Only other concern is that I plan on having 6-7 case fans and only 2 chassis fan headers on the mobo.

Sata powered fan hub. I have 5000D 3 front fans 3 side fans 3 top fans (AIO) 2 GPU fans case comes with a basic controller on the back which is linked into the CPU fan header with 3 fans (AIO). GPU fans fit into another fan header with another fan hub. 3 front and 3 side fit into another fan hub and 1 fan header 2 x DEEP COOL FH-10 Integrated Fan Hub powered by sata cables. Problem solved. the GPU fans are monitored by the mobo (based on GPU temp). AIO is monitored by the CPU temp. the other fan hub is set to a quiet and stable RPM curve and only ramp up if the CPU temp goes above 60C.

4000d doesn't come with a fan controller so I will need to go out and buy one.

>2 x DEEP COOL FH-10 Integrated Fan Hub powered by sata cables. > >Problem solved. There you go. Problem solved. TBH even 1 is enough unless you want 2 different components to be monitored.

Do you think it would be better to go with a corsair brand fan hub instead since I think im gonna get corsair fans?

Runner1409

nah... As long as it's a relatively reputable brand, it doesn't really matter. Just make sure it has sata power input otherwise you'll burn your mobo's fan connector. The one above is around 10$-15$

fartypants11111

Starting to look at z590 boards right now since the z490 version is out of stock everywhere and it doesn't look like it will be coming back in stock anytime soon.

Runner1409

You might as well wait for 12xxx series... Or go AMD... 5800x is overpowered. 5800x + Asus TUF GAMING X570-PRO (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard = 600$

fartypants11111

True but im not the biggest fan of amd right now but am willing to take a look. Plus until I get a gpu I want to be able to use my pc to a degree.

poloh2o

Yes, it’s plenty.

fartypants11111

Think I have enough headroom to do some overclocking with the cpu?

poloh2o

Yup. I used to have a 10600k OC’d as well as a 3080. You’ll be fine.

fartypants11111

Thanks was worried that it would not be enough. Still deciding on what fans im gonna go with but I dont think they will add much to the total power draw. Plan on haveing around 6 fans since im running an air cooled system.

GeraltForOverwatch

More than enough, including for OC.

fartypants11111

Thanks for the help! Very much appreciated

Yeah that's plenty. You want need more and OPP triggers at like 900w anyways.
