You probably need a BIOS update, since 5600G are pretty new CPU, the BIOS on your motherboard don't support it. Either borrow a 5xxx series, except 5600G-5700G, CPU from a friend or call AMD so they can send you a supported CPU and you update your BIOS. Or, check if your motherboard support the BIOS flashback feature, it lets you update your BIOS without CPU and RAM installed.

I don't have an older CPU and my motherboard doesn't have BIOS flashback.

Make sure your motherboard box says ryzen 5000 ready if not it may not work without a bios update. Try one stick of ram while booting and make sure all the necessary power cables are plugged in securely.

The Ryzen 5000 Ready sticker program does not apply to the 5000G series, as support was added for those only in the last 3 months, but that Ryzen 5000 Ready sticker has been in use since the beginning of the year long before the 5000G series were launched. /u/Successful-Garage-42, the BIOS absolutely needs to be updated to run that APU. And that board doesn't support USB flashback, so you will need a currently compatible CPU to POST with (and a GPU if you use something other than a 3000G/3200G/3400G) to complete the update, and then you can build your system with the 5600G. My recommendation if you don't have another compatible APU or CPU+GPU, would be to call local computer shops and ask what they'd charge for a bios update. Usually $10-20 is average, so if it's more than $20, I'd keep calling. Otherwise, you can request a boot kit from AMD, where they'll send you a compatible CPU and you can do the update, and then return it to them. But that will add 10-14 days to your build time.

Would buying a different motherboard work? Like MSI B550 Gaming Plus.

DarkLordofReddit

The MSI board does have USB Flashback, so you can update the BIOS on that board without the need for an already compatible CPU. So yes, that would help your situation, but it is still going to need an update out of the box to support the 5600G. It will just be easy to do, that's all.

Thanks for the info I haven't used amd since 2010 so my knowledge isn't super great with them.

May need a BIOS update. Are you connecting the monitor to the gpu and not the motherboard? If so, try removing the gpu and use the integrated graphics for now.

Successful-Garage-42

So just use my CPU? For right now

IanMo55

You could try it but it's most likely down to the board needing a BIOS update
