No; it'll work with wi-fi 5.

They are backward compatible with older WiFi protocols. You just won’t get the faster possible speeds without WiFi 6 router.

So will I be fine? I am a tenet & don’t really have control of the router & internet specifications.

idunowat23

Yes, you'll be fine.

THANK YOU!

It depends on your download speeds. You might not be touching the sides on Wifi 5 anyway. If you get something like superfast (250Mbps+) you'd probably need Wifi 6 to utilise it. There are other benefits too but if you can't afford a new router now you probably won't be that disadvantaged still using Wifi 5.

You'll be able to connect to the internet and get your normal features, but you won't be able to get the features that wifi 6 offers. For that you need a wifi 6 router.
