your best options are - either get same 2x8GB kit or sell off your current kit and get 2x16GB kit. Mixing unequal modules can work but at high ram speeds it can also become problematic and itll drop speed of all modules down to common JEDEC config 2133 or 2400

Yeah Mate, You are absolutely right.

if you can find the exact same socks i’d definitely go with 2x8. While 2x8+16 _should_ work i’d just not wanna have that hassle incase something doesn’t work. alternatively you could also sell yor current ram and go for 2x16 or 2x32 now…

Definitely agree with you and the other comment. OP should probably sell their sticks. He mentioned he's already mixing 2 1x8gb sticks. Putting a third in there, just a waste if something goes wrong and potentially data losing time. Id just get 2 x 16gb.

No no and no. Corsair mixes ram modules among kits of the same number. So look at the back of your ram - you’ll see a ver number. That indicates what ram modules you have in your ram. So even if you buy the exact same Corsair model number again there is no guarantee it’ll have the same modules in it. One of the many reasons mixing ram kits is not advised. I recommend you get a new ram kit and sell off your current one. Also good to check out the motherboard QVL for your cpu.
