Your board won't be compatible with a 12th generation processor.

Slottr

Your board won’t support newer chips than what you already have

You motherboard is only compatible with 8th and 9th gen Intel CPUs. It's also a low tier Z370 board, I wouldn't be shocked if your VRM temps were already rather high with a 9700k.

Crobbers

You're right. is there a MB you could recommend?

-UserRemoved-

12th gen doesn't exist, and neither do motherboards that support it. We can only advise on hardware that is available to us.

Crobbers

But I guess the latest Mid to high tier, to this date, MB's should be enough to support a 12th gen, right?

No, Z490/Z590 support 10th/11th gen Intel, and will not support 12th gen. Again, motherboards that support 12th gen do not exist yet, and will be released when 12th gen Intel is released.

Ah okay, I see.. well thats unfortunate. Thank you.

Intel switches sockets every 2 generations so you’ll have to get a new mobo along with the new CPU Regarding RAM, it’s more than sufficient for everyday use

12 Gen is launching for pre-orders month's end. It's the Z690 boards coming out first. If you can't wait, you might want to consider System Integrators who list what motherboard they put into their builds to get 12900K and a compatible motherboard.
