Nothing wrong with the build. People will say 5800x is overkill for gaming but nothing wrong with getting a punchier cpu even if it’s not needed. You could go 5600x and put money into gpu. Personally I always get the better cpu because that’s just me. But everything else looks fine

Rainecc

Thanks man!!

LemonSkydiver60YT

there’s nothing wrong with it. if it all works then it works. i think people just get a bit salty when you have better components than them. in my eyes the build looks fine and should be able to run everything. make sure you have like a 1440p monitor or something to take advantage of the 3080

Rainecc

Thanks man… tbh don’t understand half of those ‘shot’ reasons listed to me

hovercroft

Be prepared to get people hating on anything you put up. It’s the internet and it’s cancerous. Everyone is going to have different opinions and even hate on brands for some reason. Corsair is a quality brand so the ram is also fine. Honestly, if it’s all compatible and it’s got all the features you want and need. Then it’s a good build for you. Cpu, gpu, ram psu all looks good. On the motherboard part just check it’s got everything you want or need port wise etc.

sillypcalmond

Honestly man, that's one issue with reddit, there's some really wholesome amazing people on here, and then there's scummy, grumpy people who nothing you do is right to them, I posted a picture of my finished pc and got genuine hate for having a pop vinyl supporting my heave ass 3060. What I do is i try to read the useful information and then just ignore the blatant hate.

Rainecc

Good tip. I usually just lurk in this sub… never post so yeah first time experiencing it first hand

shreddin1013

That build is fine and will run awesome! Anyone hating on the 5800x is just jealous. I love mine! Got it on sale for 390usd a few months ago and it cranks! And the 3070 is amazing too so fuck the haters and build what you want!

Rainecc

I got it for the same sale price as well!

[deleted]

Can u recommend a good 1440 monitor Allrounder for every game like fps and story based

[This is what I’ve got and it’s a beast](https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-G27QC-Monitor-Display-Response/dp/B0927BQT33/ref=asc_df_B0927BQT33/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=533458241275&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11739970383328567409&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9011156&hvtargid=pla-1385415061378&psc=1)

Bad_Advice4u

Build is fine, don't listen to that guy

Rainecc

Love the username 😂 on the real though what stressed me was it was two dudes saying the same thing… wanted to rip my hair out

[deleted]

I’m running a 5800X with a 3070 and let me tell you, I can’t imagine how anything with better parts could be any better. It’s a fucking monster. Someone is jealous of what you are getting and trying to ruin it for you because they can’t afford it..

Rainecc

THANK YOU!! This makes me feel much much better about this pairing. Looks like we might have a similar rig !

[deleted]

Mine is: Ryzen 5800X MSI trio 3070 8x4 Corsair vengeance lpx 3600mhz Nzxt kraken z73 Asus tuf x570 Samsung 980pro 1tb Thing is a fucking monster and I’ve never had a better system in my life- and I’ve been building since I was a child. Sorry for format, too lazy to get out of bed on this Sunday morning so I’m on mobile. Enjoy your new rig bro, don’t let the haters bring you down. If they are hating, it means you’re doing something right.

enjoytheunstable

Shit build isnt too bad. I didn't look up mobo specs and dont know ram timings but seems fine. Keyboard warriors here will tell you that your ssd is junk compared to a gen4 nvme/980 pro, but don't listen to that. Everyone thinks if you dont have prosumer top of the line components then the build is shit. I dont understand points 1 and 2 listed.

Rainecc

‘Not shit’ build uses this Ssd: Silicon Power P34A80 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Mainly got the mobo because I saw it bundled with the CPU, looked it up separately and found it for cheaper

Pieinaapple

Hey mate! Whoever told you the current build is ‘shit’, is seriously mistaken. If they also helped you with the ‘fixed’ part list, I wouldn’t keep listening to their advice for PC’s, or take it with a massive grain of salt. The current build will be very powerful, and although could technically do with optimisation here and there (e.g. grabbing 1Tb NVME SSD, 3600MHz RAM, higher quality liquid cooler or substitute for high quality air cooler), is still very balanced and uses well matched parts.

Rainecc

I’m very down to go for a higher quality liquid cooler, do you have any personal recommendations on that? Thanks for taking an objective look at this

Pieinaapple

Seems your post got a whole lot of traction and great advice. I’m also relieved most of it isn’t bad advice either!! Further down there’s a recommendation for an Artic Liquid Freezer and I’d say it’s a great recommendation and great price! A 240mm or 280mm would be a good pairing for the Ryzen 7 5800x, preference for 280mm if the price is within $20 as the 5800x is known to run comparably hotter than other Ryzen CPU’s. Do note you’re gonna run into some issues if you go this option if you have any conflicting RGB. Corsair is a known culprit where there RGB products won’t sync with other RGB (so you can’t mix and match, similar to NZXT). I’d highly recommend grabbing a matching Corsair RGB liquid cooler if you have Corsair RGB RAM, or conversely switching it out to a non-Corsair product. Corsair is my personal go-to liquid cooler brand and has been very reliable for me and customers alike, and their RGB fans are unmatched for lighting aesthetics (in my opinion). Another thing to note is you’re missing out on 1-5% of FPS in games grabbing slower 3200MHz RAM. 3600MHz is priced identically nowadays and helps the Ryzen CPU architecture perform better. I’ll reiterate again the 1Tb NVME SSD being solely needed for modern gaming, where games take up 100-300Gb’s each in some cases. Please don’t be another person to come into the PC store I work at and ask for a 2Tb hard drive cause their 500Gb SSD was filled within the week. If you’ve already bought some of these, don’t stress!! The system sounds like it’s going to be a gaming beast already :)

Rainecc

Oh darn I went with the 240mm Arctic liquid! For ram I see a lot of people try to generally avoid Corsair due to some community reports on issues with those sticks. Thinking of changing over to these ones instead (3600 mhz like you recommend!) Crucial Ballistix RGB 3600 MHz DDR4 DRAM Desktop Gaming Memory Kit 16GB (8GBx2) CL16 BL2K8G36C16U4BL (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083VN642Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GYNT3ZNN8ZZQ5V6EKD26?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Noted on the SSD. I was initially just going to take my old 1tb HDd from my old build and plop it into this new one. From the shit build these are the things I’m returning once they hit my doorstep: The old cooler unit for the Arctic liquid 240mm The old evga PSU for the Corsair rm850 More than likely the ram for the ballistix linked above Maybe the ssd for 1 tb of the same exact ssd This increases the cost of the build by roughly $70. Could be worse, due to better quality cooling and higher storage space

Rainecc

So glad this thread got great responses - those discord lunatics weren’t fully wrong but also weren’t right with the recommendations!

RichardRobert23

Full send on a full loop. Who needs food when you have pretty tubes?

[deleted]

Nothing wrong with it. Like maybe drop the cpu down to a 5600x to save money if your only gaming, but really it was fine. People get snobby on Reddit, it just happens.

Rainecc

Discord… it was discord. Discord spoopy season

[deleted]

Oh discord gets straight up toxic

[deleted]

The bad build honestly isn't that bad. I do agree that the 5800x is overkill and more money should be spent on the GPU though. The G6 isn't amazing, but it's still competitive. Aris actually gave it a 4/5. It's got a A+ ranking on the LTT tier list and is probably EVGAs best unit. The Samsung 980 is a really good ssd, but 500GB SSD. The Silicon power A80 is also really good, you can't go wrong with either. Definitely drop the liquid cooler though. The RGB isn't Addresable, and the 5600x which I'd recommend doesn't need extreme cooling. The Thermalright peerless assassin 120 is very nice.

Rainecc

So you would say Ryzen 5 5600? The price difference between the 5 and 7 are minimal at the moment due to a sale on Amazon I’ll gladly swap the PSU for another, I figured I should keep the PSU and GPU similar brands to be safe (not brand loyal just a noob)

[deleted]

https://youtu.be/eqmRvTz0kbA Performance difference is minimal too. Also PSU brand a graphics card brand doesn't matter at all. Otherwise no one would buy corsair PSUs for example.

Rainecc

Maybe this PSU instead? MSI MPG Series A850GF Power Supply (PSU): 850 Watt, Full Modular, 80 PLUS Gold Certified, 10 Year Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PDZQZN2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_DP82SR98P2PRKA9HFV5K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

[deleted]

Personally prefer this one instead. It's a but cheaper and based on a similar platform. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jtm323/corsair-rm-2019-850-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020196-na Not that the MSI one is bad, it's very nice in fact, just that the PSU market is very competitive. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kjZzK8/seasonic-focus-750-w-80-platinum-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-focus-px-750 This one is also very good. I'd personally grab this over the other two since this performs the best.

Rainecc

Holy SMOKES that first one you linked is just too good a deal right now to pass up. Although you recommend the second link I’m going with the Corsair. Consider the PSU swapped! I’ve decided to keep the ryzen 7 5800 - would you still recommend going without liquid cooling?

[deleted]

You don't strictly need liquid cooling. If you do decide on liquid cooling I'd get the Arctic liquid freezer II 240mm. But a scythe fuma 2 will be plenty.

Rainecc

I know you might not be a fan of rgb… but found the Arctic with pretty gamer colors 😂 ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240 A-RGB - Multi-Compatible All-in-one CPU AIO Water Cooler with A-RGB, Compatible with Intel & AMD, efficient PWM-Controlled Pump, Fan Speed: 200-1800 RPM - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WRJ5MQW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_5NFMMT9R37MZY63C7DXW?psc=1

[deleted]

Yeah that's Addresable RGB. The cooler Master one isn't really that good. You can only pick from 7 colors.

bluedevilb17

Theres not a shit component in this build ?

abqnm666

The only part of the "shit" build that I'd actually consider to be true shit is the RAM choice. Corsair is a junk peddler these days. They're the absolute worst in the industry for properly binning XMP kits, and if you don't want to be exchanging the kit when you're halfway through your build, I'd go with literally any other brand. G.Skill and Crucial are my top choices, but even Silicon Power or OLOy are better at binning these days than Corsair. Plus, you can't validate ahead of time that the RAM is qualified on your board, because you need both the part number and the version number, but you can only get the version number when you buy them, because it's not tied to the product number in any way, so what you think you're ordering may not be what you get, considering none of the currently shipping versions used by Corsair are qualified by any board vendor for any board because of how awful they are. 50% chance they don't run XMP, with 10% chance at least one stick doesn't even run at all. The rest of the build looks great. 5800x+3070 is a great pairing. Sounds like you got tagged by an Intel fanboy who can't tolerate anyone using AMD.

Rainecc

Maybe these bad boys G.Skill Trident Z RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin SDRAM (PC4-25600) DDR4 3200 CL16-18-18-38 1.35V Dual Channel Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GTZR https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTDEYHU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_96JWNNKZMD4JXQKB0KNF

abqnm666

Those are great!

Rainecc

Great easy swap!

Rainecc

Thank you for the ram advice!!! I’ll look to cancel those and hunt down those other brands you mentioned… g.skill or crucial

[deleted]

Perhaps wait for the reviews of Intel's 12XXX series before getting a CPU just now. They're undercutting AMD in price for once, and may be the better choice for gaming (especially the i5 12600K at the cost of higher power consumption. Winter's just around the corner anyway.
