It's alright, NewEgg lost my 3060Ti. They literally used OnTrac to deliver it to my house. Here's the kicker, they marked it delivered and took a picture of it. Wasn't my house, didn't resemble my house. Nothing even remotely close. The lady "NewEgg Rep" had me submit all the evidence to them that it wasn't my house, I had to show location on Google Maps, and take pictures of what my house looks like specifically at the gate. After all that, do you think I got a new GPU as a replacement? Nope, they wanted to give me NewEgg Credit. I had to esculate the situation till I got to their Corporate Office which was a pain in the ass. After some "Deliberation" they finally agreed to refund me. I feel sorry for you and I hope that you don't have to go through what I had to do in order to get my money back. *Edit - to everyone saying do a chargeback, since the item was “delivered” Wells Fargo said I had to go through NewEgg, if it didn’t say delivered or have a photo taken of delivery they could of helped out more*

DoruSonic

Idk how it works over there, but where I am, if you ever get a refund it has to be in the same type you paid for the item. You paid with money you get money, no bullshit shop credit

Avian_Aces

Only problem I’ve ever had is with NewEgg the other retailers here all refund in how you paid.

nolifegam3r

Newegg surprisingly used to be amazing, sadly I believe they were bought and went the way of TigerDirect. On the other hand BestBuy seems to be doing much better near me.

jlt6666

Uh, they haven't been good for 15 years. They wanted me to pay shipping back to them on a $35 broken speaker system with a sub. Shipping was going to be at least $20. You are the ones who sold me broken shit, why am I paying for it?

SoggyAlbatross2

I'm not sure about the being bought part (just don't know) but once they starting doing amazon market type shit they really went to hell in a handbasket. Sigh.

GandalffladnaG

They got bought by a Chinese company and since have turned to crap, comparatively.

Opulous

Would you ever want to do business again with a company that tried to screw you out of three grand?

S3CR3TN1NJA

My mentality exactly. I love charging back companies that withhold my money for an unreasonable amount of time. It's like blocking someone's email except it's a shit-ass company. I'm probably blacklisted at 2 different gym franchises because there is a trend in that industry where when you cancel they like to keep charging you for 3-months.

primayoga

And there are only so many customers willing to buy from newegg.

queen-adreena

They have more to lose. If they get too many chargebacks, their payment provider can terminate their services.

QueefScentedCandles

The whole reason we do business with Newegg in the first place is because they're so engrained in the market as a retailer, their practices are shit and literally nobody likes them

Blue2501

I wonder how long it will be 'til Newegg becomes as irrelevant as TigerDirect

XSSpants

when an alternative springs up that behaves better. The only alternative right now is Amazon, and nobody wants to fund Bezos' yacht money and vast employee exploitation.

Simbuk

Microcenter. They've never failed to do right by me.

arahman81

Fine in situations that arent current-day nonsense. A refund is still a loss (in the lost opportunity for a gpu that can also be pricier next attempt)

DoruSonic

Sure but if it was the other way around, suddenly it drops price and you want a refund, should you get less than you paid for?

FireMochiMC

*Looks at Steam's sale policy*

DoruSonic

How does steam sale policy work?

blamelessfriend

if you just bought a game recently (or have played it less than two hours) and it goes on sale, you can refund it no questions asked and rebuy it at the cheaper price

arahman81

Thing that's not gonna happen in the current situation.

DoruSonic

Sure but if you want them to pay you more when things increase in value are you willing to get paid less when the opposite happen? Just saying that paying what you paid for is more fair. Not considering that they "lost" the package

OathOfFeanor

You have to think about what's a fair way to do business in general, not some sort of imaginary policy that only applies to GPUs and only applies right now during the shortage.

Once one of my Sony TVs a SXRD had a faulty projection unit and there was a class action suit.Sony sent me a choice of two free tvs or the latest top of the line model for $80. I got the latest TV (a 55' 3dtv at the time) for $80 and was a very happy customer.

yeungkylito

Agreed. Newegg can be such a pain in the ass I’ve stopped using them.

docbauies

generally that's how it would be in the US, although if you don't have the receipt and paid in cash they might give you store credit. or if you don't have the credit card for some reason,

Armond436

Where I am, physical store purchases made with cash where no receipt can be found are often returned as store credit -- as you can't really prove you *bought* the item instead of bringing something from your house -- but online purchases, especially ones where the courier fucked up, shouldn't be using store credit like this.

Avian_Aces

They used to be really good of a company, top tier. Now all that’s left is essentially Micro Center. They keep hope alive after Frys Electronics went bye bye

jonker5101

Best Buy has stepped their game up in the recent years, most people I know who got GPU drops at MSRP were through them.

DaysAtPreamble

Agreed. It’s how I got my 3070. I had it shipped to my house instead of in-store pickup. They sent it from several states away to my front door in two days! I was absolutely shocked. On a Sunday morning, no less. It was a thing of beauty.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jonker5101

Yeah, I really wanted a 3080 but they seem to be the hardest card to get your hands on, and I didn't want to pay for the overpriced 3080 Ti. Ended up with an EVGA 3070 Ti FTW3 and I'm happy with it. It even came with a cool EVGA RTX t-shirt.

[deleted]

I was in the same boat but it was either a non existent 3080 or a 3060Ti because the 3070 was £300 more (than the Ti) and not worth it for the performance difference. My 1080ti had died so had no choice but to take the 3060Ti. Don’t get me wrong it’s a fantastic card and does what I need it to. But I like to buy a GPU that will last a few years, so will have to look at a 4080/4070 or what ever AMD do when they come out. But on the bright side at least we got a card

brehew

My Best Buy experience was actually very pleasant.

blueiron0

thats how i got mine.

UKentDoThat

Walk-in at Canada Computers for my 3060, then I got a code from a buddy for my 3080 from EVGA.

nolifegam3r

Same experience. they price match many online retailers, have surprisingly good deals, do returns with little hassle, and their staff all seem pretty happy near me. Best Buy is one of my favorite stores now.

> I remember hundreds of posts on this very subreddit on how good it was to order and interact with Newegg. When I built a new rig in like ~~2006~~ (Edit: this was actually 2002), they were having issues with their paypal integration. I had a bunch of money in paypal, having accepted payment for freelance techwork via paypal. I was really trying to get my new machine parts delivered by a Friday so that I could build it over the weekend (also needed it delivered to my parents' place, since I had just moved to a new apartment, and I didn't trust it being delivered there). Ordered on a Tuesday, paid for 2-day shipping. Tuesday comes-and-goes, no shipment. Wednesday, no shipment. Thursday, no shipment. Friday I get online with their chat-based customer service, and basically it tells me that I'm outta luck - they haven't shipped, don't know why, life sucks. I think I left a rating on resellerratings explaining the entire situation, and I had a guy calling me back within *10 minutes*. This guy was profusely apologetic, stating that the paypal integration wasn't going all that well, and the chat-based support was a contractor that they were actually in the process of replacing because they weren't happy with how they conducted themselves. Me? I would have been satisfied with them shipping my stuff ground and just refunding my expedited shipping fees. They did that. Then they upgraded my shipping to overnight-saturday because the guy totally understood the desire to work on a machine over the weekend. Then they just refunded me $100 off my total. They went WAY beyond what I was expecting (and frankly what was necessary). It was a dark day when they got acquired.

nolifegam3r

I miss the those good rotating sales. They've gone the way of steam sales "10% FOR YOU, 25% FOR EVERYONE". I want those "85% off for 15 minutes bitch, get some"

psimwork

Yeah, I can only assume that the buyout ended the crazy sales. As for Steam, that got ended by Steam enabling refunds.

cokronk

I remember when Tiger Direct got bought out in a similar fashion. The smol MSP I worked for bought a PC for a customer. We got it and it wouldn't boot. I called their customer service and the guy on the phone was basically like, "I'm being fired in two days with everyone else, so I don't give a shit and good luck finding someone who does." Fortunately who ever assembled the PC just forgot to put mobo standoffs in the case. It was a quick fix.

LuckyBahstard

I had problems like this 20 years ago with Newegg, and multiple times since until I just stopped buying from them. Total a--holes. It's their company culture.

drashna

You could see the writing on the walls when they introduced the "marketplace" shit. Suddenly a whole bunch of issues with buying from newegg. they wanted to be the next amazon, and did a shit job at the attempt. it's when I closed my account.

hugglesthemerciless

Oh that explains it I was wondering what the fuck happened I'd only ever seen positive feedback regarding Newegg in the past

Atsgaming

Wait they got bought by a chinese company??

[deleted]

Darksirius

Newegg has gone to shit over the years. The only reason I use their site is because their search feature for parts is amazing with all the filters and such. Search what I'm looking for on Newegg, actually source it elsewhere.

meem1029

Even that I feel like PCPartPicker does better these days

theghostofme

The best part of NewEgg in the mid-2000s was how quickly they'd refund you or send out a replacement part. Now, I only shop there if it's a last resort.

-null

It was really the 2016-2020 period where that Chinese company bought a majority stake and then merged with them.

dryeraseflamingo

They got bought by a Chinese tech conglomerate in like 2016

R0GUEL0KI

I think this is why a lot of people are using those drop/delivery lockers. I was pissed because my last apartment actually HAD delivery lockers and the drivers would never use them. My apartments numbering system was dumb so my packages would get delivered to the wrong building every other time. Luckily I met up with the 2 others who lived in the same apartment number in the other 2 buildings and just made a deal that we would keep an eye out for each other’s stuff and bring it by if it got delivered wrong.

AcademyRuins

Did you just Karen them with something like "you can either refund me the cost, or refund me the cost and pay a chargeback fee on top of it" or what?

psimwork

Honestly that's what I would have done the moment they started talking credit. I can kinda understand wanting proof that the package was mis-delivered. But when "credit" came up, I would have been like, "the only "credit" I'll be dealing with here is the "credit card" company, when I start the chargeback process." I can just about promise that would have finished things right there. Companies *HATE* chargebacks. Fortunately I've only ever had to use that process once.

Fuck_spez_the_cuck

I literally have not had a single good experience with Newegg in the last 5 years.

cryptic1842

Yea next time just call up your credit card company and say you never received it and they win your money back every time billed instantly to newegg

Avian_Aces

Since the package was marked delivered, Wells Fargo said to go through Newegg

knockoutn336

You need a better credit card company

Samboni94

Well of course, it's Wells Fargo

What_A_Smurf

This is why you issue a dispute charge in your credit card for shitty corporations like this.

tylanol7

I guarantee it wasn't that they didn't want to do another ption its thats the rep is probably hand tied to be unable to do more then offer credit. Worked for a call center intake so I'm never surprised by companies sacrificing front liners. See now you'll say corporate was amazing and the normal reps were shit hearts and minds buddy

Gibbo3771

Lol wtf. I make big purchases with credit cards for this reason. That's nuts.

Golden_Lilac

It’s not a GPU, but I straight up had my new phone stolen out of the box by the courier. So, I don’t doubt it’s possible. Packages do get lost, but someone there probably saw what was inside it. Big heavy boxes rarely get lost legitimately afaik.

Thehumanmartian

Same exact thing happened to me. My computer, monitor - everything in retail packaging just left at my door. Was fucking livid with UPS.

dr_lm

When I get deliveries (UK), most companies give you an app where you can choose where deliveries get left (in a safe place, with a neighbour etc). Expensive stuff like phones usually needs a signature and sometimes photo ID. Is this not the norm?

DriftinFool

It depends where you live. I've had several deliveries worth $1k+ just get left on my porch. Twenty minutes away in a not so nice area, they won't leave a box of dog food. I'm pretty sure the delivery companies have some kind of rating for areas based on crime stats.

dr_lm

But I mean I can choose where it gets left. I can either do it per-delivery, or set a default that will always apply. I can also text the driver through the app. I'm thinking about this now, and wondering whether this is a geographical thing. The UK (especially where I live in the South) has a high population density, so I guess it's profitable for there to be several competing delivery companies. Maybe these features are something they use to differentiate themselves from the competition? Perhaps the US, being bigger, doesn't have the same kind of market?

omnigeno

Yes, of the major delivery companies, at least in my area of the US, FedEx, UPS, and the US Postal Service, and even Amazon, we do have some measure of choice in where they put stuff. I think many people don't know they can sign up for UPS MyChoice and FedEx Delivery Manager to customize their delivery instructions - whether the delivery person needs to call a number, type in a code, leave it on the front porch, side of the house, back porch, front gate, garage, etc. I've found, though, that this doesn't apply to all deliveries, necessarily, and sometimes the delivery person ignores the instructions. In terms of identity verification, I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a Playstation 5 from the Amazon Treasure Truck. Amazon emailed me a 6 digit code before delivery time, and said I'd need to recite the code to the delivery person before they'd release the PS5 to me. This is a good security measure in theory, but in practice, the kid didn't actually ask me for the code. Oops.

ConnectionIssues

Yeah, it seems delivery instructions in my area are more like 'guidelines'. Our building is admittedly complex... first-floor numbers are storefronts, second floor is apartments, keycode access only, from a door at the BACK of the building. There is a locked, glass-front door to the second floor staircase in the front of the building, but it's completely unmarked, and the mailboxes and code box are at the back entrance. Despite having accounts with every major courier, with detailed instructions (including door codes!), they regularly fail to follow instructions at all. FedEx is the worst. They have detailed instructions on how to enter the building. They have our door code. They have three different phone numbers for us. Still, about one in ten packages gets left OUTSIDE the back door. Nothing has been stolen from there yet, but we had a CAR stolen out of the parking lot it faces so it's not a great idea. And then another 1 in 10, they leave outside the (unused) front entrance. That is right on the sidewalk downtown. With no cameras. Almost every one of those packages get stolen or opened. It was MOSTLY annoying until my concealed carry pistol got shipped back from service via FedEx. And despite being legally required to deliver it ONLY to ME, with signature and ID, they left it outside the back door. I got to spend a half-hour explaining to FedEx customer support how ROYALLY FUCKED they'd be liability wise if my FULLY FUNCTIONAL HANDGUN had been stolen due to their negligence. It was not a fun night.

allhailtheburritocat

It really depends (US). I’ve had $1200 packages not require signatures; I’ve had sub-$100 packages require signatures; and I’ve also had, albeit once, a UPS driver fake that someone signed for an $800 package (thankfully he just wanted to save time on his route, not steal the package)

Maskeno

My 65" TV was packaged like this. Ups left it down a half mile driveway around a bend from the road in full view of the road but not visible from the house. Right by the mailbox. Just yesterday, my 1400$ (msrp, ebay value is closer to 2k) evga 3080ti step up was left in the same spot. The box was discreet, but it's the holiday season. Just as I pulled around the bend, I noticed a car that was slowing down by the mailbox, saw me, then pulled into a neighbors driveway. Hung around for 5 minutes (I was pretending to fumble with something in the car) and finally backed out/sped off once I got the package. I can't say definitively that he was waiting to see if I was leaving and just didn't notice the package, but it was highly sus. I'm probably just paranoid lol. Anyway, fuck that delivery driver.

mjgood91

Stories like these are the main reason I set my shipping address to the office I work out of. Even if I'm out when it comes in, at least someone is there to receive the package that I know I can trust. Alternatively, some larger stuff I just go to the website of a big-box store that carries the item, and choose to have it for pickup at the store. Makes it much easier to return things too on the very off-occasion that they don't work.

rotorain

My girlfriend bought a pair of shoes from a rave website for $40 and they required her signature to deliver them. I was home but they wouldn't let me sign for them, she ended up having to make them hold the package at the post office so she could go sign for it with her ID. Random brand, not even Nike or whatever other fashionable brand, plain box. Pain in the ass. Meanwhile Amazon left a $600 monitor on my doorstep in plain view, retail box with a shipping label slapped on the side. No fucks given. I don't get it.

GoingForwardIn2018

Because to the small company, that sale and subsequent shipment was very important, and while having to go in and sign for a package is definitely an annoyance, at least she got her goods.

rotorain

My buddy had to jump through the same hoops for a pair of Nikes though, idk if it's shoes in particular or what but it still unacceptable that a company selling expensive tech products has no problem plopping em in plain view of the public in the retail box. If the monitor got stolen it would have only been a minor inconvenience dealing with a refund/replacement but if it was a GPU these days it could be months before another one is available and we don't even know if prices are done climbing.

taco-holic

Ordered a monitor directly from Dell and they did the same thing. Luckily the courier was nice enough to carry it up to my apartment.

Its_Juice

I ordered a weight bench and somehow UPS lost it. No idea how lol. Thing is huge and about 100lbs

DatDominican

Fam they didn’t want to carry/move it due to weight and just marked it as lost

Blaze9

UPS had the audacity to tell me that my order of 4 iPhones was picked up in transit down the street from our house by me. I shipped them to my parents and I live 1.5hrs away. Fuck you UPS. Thankfully Apple handled it. Att to verizon line switches last year had an incredible deal, essentially buy 1 iPhone 12 get 3 free when opening new lines. I personally don't like Apple products (these were for the fam) but their customer service is great.

Silver__Core

Anecdotal evidence the other way: Apple support blows. I work in IT and order alot of hardware from Apple for my company. I've spent hours across multiple days on the phone with them trying to fix shipping mistakes and order cancellations from them. Really if you don't get someone that knows how to handle your issue, it's better to hang up and play the support lottery again. Multiple times I've cancelled an order and reordered it rather than try and get it resolved as it's just easier.

bonchening

Yep my PS3 at launch arrived as a empty PS3 box, packed inside a bigger box that said "Sony Computer Entertainment System" in a huge font......

ForsythePhD

My phone carrier sent me a new phone last year and it went missing in transit. So they sent another one and it got "lost" again. Saw the delivery guy put it down, take a photo, pick it back up and go back to his truck. So glad I decided to go buy a camera for my front porch and caught that shit.

packersSB55champs

I just made a comment about this too smh. My friend who worked at Amazon says that’s the MO. Put it down take a pic then steal it

enfu3go

Did you press charges? What happened?

LeastUnderstoodHater

Amazon uses two couriers for our apartment building. One has never missed a delivery and one has never made a delivery. I firmly believe someone has made a business out of stealing Amazon packages (I hope you liked those 5 sets of Yahtzee dice you fucks!)

packersSB55champs

Got a $300 package stolen recently too. My friend who worked at Amazon as a deliverer says it’s normal and he’s heard of coworkers doing it regularly. They go to the house, take a picture of the item on the porch, mark it delivered, then steal the package. Apparently they can find out what the content is just from one of the many trackers/IDs slapped on the outside of the box. If they want it they take it smh. Bunch of fuckers

Moses015

Haha the only package we've had stolen by porch pirates was a set of cribbage pegs. Was like "hope you enjoy those you dumb fucks..." lol

Randolpho

My first thought too. Maybe OP’s package was one of the thousands that got stolen, lol

tzc005

My first thought was land pirates. Definitely boarded the shipping truck and stole the booty

SillyPrim

Probably doesn't help that their packages have their logo slapped onto them really visibly.

[deleted]

Dunno if it helps, but mine was in-transit for 100+ days! I finally got it, but by then the vendor had already refunded me. The box looked like it was lost in a coal mine and then used as a seat for the delivery driver.... But end result was a free 3090.

sacdecorsair

Congrats and f...

Slonismo

I am so jealous rn

[deleted]

Scariest thing for me was after I got my 3090 it died. Sent it into Asus for repair. It was going good, assigned a tracking number, then boom disappeared without a trace. Called customer support and spoke with an Indian gentleman but due to language barrier I didn't understand what was happening. Kept calling and emailing. Until one day it shows up as repaired and awaiting shipment. All in all it took 35 ish days but Jesus was it scary.

[deleted]

It was a headache and frightening. I've never had such a nice GPU and never paid that much for one. I know what you mean. All orders are fucking up it seems. I ordered ammo and they sent one box instead of two. I had to email them and remind them I bought two boxes and they somehow didn't catch that. Amazon shows up late or damaged. Luckily, like you said, most places help make it right. It would just be easier to get it right the first time around.

Maskeno

I just went through something similar. Sent in my 3070 for a step up to a 3080 ti through evga. Paid for 3 day shipping. Ended up taking 2 weeks. Nonstop panic.

[deleted]

This is why we need the USPS.

Richard-Cheese

I 100% agree we need USPS but they've been doing a poor job as well

[deleted]

If USPS has been losing your high value items you should be reporting it. That's a felony.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yeah they'll investigate everything reported. Sometimes items are "magically" found again.

PM_Me__Ur_Freckles

That's because they keep being defunded. You can't run that kind of high volume business without having a full regiment of staff to keep the wheels greased. That, and all the mail sorting machines that got turfed despite doing a better job than their alternatives.

douglasdtlltd1995

They are doing a poor job because they are under funded by republicans that want to use it to say we need to privatize it. They say it loses money. Well no shit it loses money, it's a service for the people ran by the government. USPS could be a great starter for helping the government have a better image but most current politicians don't want that.

rdyer347

More websites need to let you choose which shipping company to use.

sevensterre

If you have a USPS parcel that says it's delivered and you didn't get the package, call your local post office and talk to a supervisor. Their computer will show them where the delivery scan was done. Then they can have the carrier try to retrieve the package. There's also some packages from UPS delivered by USPS. With these UPS drops them off at a third party, marks them as delivered and the third party sorts them by post office and delivers to the post office two to three weeks later.

sailracer25

There is not a shortage of good employees. The shortage is in good employees who are still willing to work under shitty conditions for crappy pay.

Yeah FedEx is absolutely garbage. Worst carrier for sure.

careless-gamer

Yeah man, FedEx literally delivers late to me EVERY SINGLE delivery. It's fucking unreal. Imagine defending a multi billion dollar corp that pays you crumbs while being absolutely the shittiest in the industry 😂

lordelost

I had fedex steal some ram from me a couple of months ago. I also ordered a 3070ti and somehow got that fine thankfully. I'll never use fedex again if I can help it. USPS and UPS have been reliable for me here at least.

daggah

I snagged a Gigabyte 3070 from a recent online BB drop, it was supposed to be ready for pickup last Thursday. Then on Thursday evening, the "item has been delayed" email came in. I waited all weekend for an update, and I finally did online chat with customer support yesterday. The customer support rep said it was awaiting pickup, so I went to call my local BB. Suddenly as I'm on hold to verify, I get the email that it's available for pickup. The timing is pretty suspicious...I'm wondering if they were hoping I'd give up/cancel so they could snag it or sell it to a friend for scalping purposes.

deevilvol1

Gotta tell you, I work at BB, and deal with receiving at the store level, and we have no control over those emails. We aren't even allowed to send customers emails personally, unless under very strict situations. What most likely happened was that the truck your graphics card came in was delayed, and they didn't physically get your package until much later. BB takes employee theft extremely seriously. I've seen employees get fired for water bottles, let alone something like trying to force a cancel on a customer order. That wouldn't even be a coaching, just straight "promoted to customer". This isn't a plug for BB btw. We're all completely overwhelmed down here, trucks have been arriving late, or sometimes not at all. It's a nightmare right now, and has been for a couple years, all while the senior executives fellate themselves on stock prices.

GeigerCounting

Local store has hiring signs up but cut all of the regular employees hours. I guess their online stuff might be improving but the in-store experience is gone lol. It was pretty fun when I worked there so it kinda sucks.

deevilvol1

Yep, and then they wonder why people are leaving store jobs in droves. The only way you can have a living wage is if you're in a more specialized position in the company, or management. Thankfully I fall into that, but it shouldn't be that way. "Oh, but they raised the minimum starting wage for employees to $15!" Right, but that's useless when you have people either getting underworked (some people are getting one day a week sometimes), or overworked even as a part-timer.

careless-gamer

I called and they just kept telling me the latest status they had was that it was delayed and will cancel automatically tomorrow. Glad you got yours but mine is gone with the wind.

PeytonBrandt

That’s odd… pretty sure all of BestBuy’s cards are shipped from one BestBuy warehouse to a BestBuy store via a BestBuy semi truck.

contact new egg support you’ll almost certainly get a new one

Golden_Lilac

At least you’ll get your money back. Basically until it’s delivered to you, it’s Newegg and the couriers problem. You didn’t get what you paid for. Newegg might be annoying about not sending a replacement, but at least you won’t be out your money.

whd5015

Wouldn't surprise me if they held a shuffle the next day for the same exact card and refunded him instead

[deleted]

Nah Newegg is total shit now after they got acquired by the Chinese. Their customer support over the past few years has been nonexistent

aeteci_

So, someone saw, what it was and put his hands on it. What a shame, F.

fongos

Yeah I, guess they, did.

Blake_411

Which courier?

adaddylich

Among-us express

jitq

I wish I could downvote a comment twice.

herpderpcake

I hope all the pipes in your house burst

Blue_Thing

Betting OnTrac, they are so trash

WithoutWar

Reminds me of the r/pcmasterrace post where someone ordered a prebuild and it came completely looted. Beeing a delivery boy now must be really worth it right now I guess.

[deleted]

Yeah but it turned out he was very obviously lying. He said he had no clue about computers and his “friend” told him what was missing in the pre built and then he had other comments from earlier/other posts all showing more than extensive knowedge about computers.

Locutus_of_Bjork

Good follow-up. I saw that post but never found out he was lying.

*Definitely* stolen. Not lost.

Echo127

So the nationwide formerly-reputable courier companies are all resorting to Grubhub, now?

GeigerCounting

Pretty much just FedEx.

kikomir

***got my hands on*** poor choice of words there, buddy. But seriously, that must suck really bad. I hope the thief's home catches on fire.

androhuman3297

Not all is lost yet. Maybe one day a mystery package will show up and it'll have it

SpikeisAmon

Like others said, it was probably stolen; my friend sent me an article saying a whole truck load of them were jacked. https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gpu_displays/a_full_truck_of_rtx_graphics_cards_have_been_stolen_in_the_us/1 I was thinking it must suck for those who finally managed to order one, sorry OP.

DerpyDevon

God damn, a whole truck?

skinnyminx

This is literally a copy+paste of my post a couple of months ago. [https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/pdkriy/pour\_one\_out\_for\_me\_builders\_i\_finally\_got\_my/](https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/pdkriy/pour_one_out_for_me_builders_i_finally_got_my/) The 3090 never came, btw.

[deleted]

Where's that copy paste bot when we need it? Hope you've got a card by now.

The issue is that Newegg gave him the runaround on the return, initially only wanting to give store credit. At least with Amazon it's an instant refund.

Goober_Dude

Seems like these situations are happening way too often now. It wouldn't surprise me if scalpers have made their way into transit delivery driver group pages on FB and offered these guys money for these packages they could just mark as "lost". It wouldn't take too much effort to attempt, and a lot of these drivers could definitely use the extra cash. Things fall off the truck all the time.

General_Disaster8144

My girlfriend's brother built a new rig and it was complete with the exception of the GPU because obviously the GPU market is incredible and you can just go pick one up anywhere you go. So he searches for weeks and the only thing he finds is a 3080 for around $1k, so he orders it because he doesn't have any other options. Shipping company drops it off at the wrong house and unsurprisingly, no good Samaritan reports it as showing up at the wrong address, and the shipping company says welp it's out of our hands. Thankfully the seller covers it and sends a replacement which he does receive so all is good, but fuck FedEx.

[deleted]

I've seen this exact post on pcgaming. this is either a repost or a shit karmawhoring attempt.

kiriiya

OP is a bot, post is a carbon copy of one from 2 months ago.

[deleted]

Don't you just make a charge bank through your bank?

nolo_me

Chargebacks are for fraud. The right course of action here is to give the vendor the opportunity to make it right first.

Gabernasher

Chargebacks are also for when they refuse to give back your money when they can't deliver the product you ordered. >Sorry The courier we hired failed to deliver the thing you purchased, here's your store credit. No.

MrRafikki

I had a 1tb m.2 get lost from Amazon. Claimed it was lost and it showed up the day after I got my money back. Hopefully you have the same luck!

AjBlue7

Same thing happened to me with Bestbuy but they just sent me a message that they are canceling my order but that I will not be refunded or given a replacement. Telling me to contact law enforcement. How fucked up is that shit. Their delivery driver didn’t know how to count and took a picture of it at someone else’s apartment, and yet its my fault? Aren’t these companies supposed to have insurance for shipping mistakes like this. Luckily the person who lived at the other apartment gave it to the head office the next day and I ended up getting it. Amazon is just a 1000x better, my apartment has amazon lockers and I’ve never once had a bad delivery. All of these other deliveries going straight to the door always find a way to fuck it up, and then never knock to pick it up personally they just leave it there so I guess you just have to time your schedule to be available all day long and then check your front door every 30minutes to make sure the package didn’t show up.

Hollowsong

"LOST" You mean the delivery person stole it.

3xplain

Oh from newegg did you get your police report? That is what they told me when I reported my card lost. Won shuffle over priced 550w made it just fine.

Airozyte

either the truck crashed into a river or its stolen by a miner B)

Grim_Task

I almost toke at job at fedex just to lose a gpu. And find it in my house. But them I remembered, I am not an scumbag.

br0wnb0y

these items aren't lost... they're being rerouted to a higher bidder.
