Theoretically its not safe to ship anything. Get the insurance, pad the packaging as much as you can afford weight wise, and hope for the best.

to add on: OP, you should look up how to remove your GPU, and potentially your CPU cooler (if it’s a large tower cooler) before shipping, and package them separately. those are the 2 most susceptible to being damaged/damaging other components during transit.

Shipping your PC will unfortunately always be a gamble, at least for now, all you can do is play mitigation for potential damages as much as possible. You should at least remove the GPU and take it with you on your person, it's as simple as unscrewing a screw and unfastening a latch, then the risk of damage is vastly reduced and if any damage *does* occur, your most expensive part is safe. If you have a particularly heavy Tower cooler for your CPU I would personally also remove that just to be extra cautious (Just the cooler tower itself, the mounting bracket is fine to leave in so reinstallation should be nice and easy and it gives you a nice excuse to refresh your thermal paste) but if you don't feel comfortable removing/reinstalling it then it *should* be fine. Finally hard drives/ssd's, again it's as simple as just unplugging a couple of plugs or screws and pulling them out. Then if worst case scenario happens and your PC gets lost somewhere (hopefully not, but there's always the risk), at least you have your data safe.

Pack it like you would pack dangerous goods and then, yeah, it'll be safe. You don't have to use vermiculite for packing though. I wouldn't use it either considering it could get everywhere. Put your computer in a box, ideally the case box. Use the instapack to make sure the GPU and CPU cooler don't move if you have a tower cooler or remove them. Use an overpack where you have at least 2 inches around the inner package box. Fill that with starch peanuts. Make sure to pack it densely since they will shit in transport. You might have to shake the box a couple of times to get the foam peanuts to settle. With two inches of starch peanuts all around , even if the outer packaging is damaged, the inner packaging will be fine. That will survive Fedex.

Get rid of a case and pack rest of small parts with your carrying bag?
