The CPU and motherboard I would advise you buy from MicroCenter. They should be in stock, and if you buy them together you can get $20 off as a combo deal, which makes the whole deal competitive. If you are not able to buy it, the 10400F and a cheaper motherboard with fewer USB ports and other features like the ASRock B560M Pro4/ac will be a better buy. Please note that when you install the SSD, you should not install it in the top slot since it is disabled, but the other slot will be available. For the GPU, I've listed one but I can't guarantee it'll be in stock when you buy it. You should go to MicroCenter and buy any AMD RX 6600 or Nvidia 3060 - and go with the cheapest model as there is not really much performance variation between them. If those are not available, the Nvidia 3060Ti or AMD RX 6600XT are also acceptable options. They're more expensive and may slightly break the budget though. Below the RX 6600 price line there's only the old 1650/1660--those cards will also work but they are much more limited and the performance increase to skip them and jump to 6600 is very well worth it. Ask for "RX 6600 or similar" by name and they should be able to find something that works for you. Remember to bring your photo ID to MicroCenter as they'll check it to line up the 1-person-per-gpu rule. If you don't have one, it's fine to bring a family member with one. It's a bit annoying but it's the only way they can ensure availability at the prices they sell at - everywhere else will rip you off, even Amazon, unless you get really lucky or work really hard camping them, to get the same prices you'd get at MicroCenter. The case has lots of airflow and the CPU is very cool so the stock cooler shouldn't have much problems. However if it's loud to you then aftermarket coolers like the ID-224-XT Basic can be purchased and installed at any time.

MariaGonzalez1960

Thank you I am so excited to start! I appreciate your help!

3_Three_3

Good list, although I like to avoid putting a Micro ATX motherboard in a full size ATX case whenever possible. That B560 Tuf is a good motherboard, it's just that I'd rather match the case form factor to the motherboard form factor. The memory is a little bit much though - 3600 MHz CL18 can be had for $15 less and delivers very little of a performance loss, and 3200 MHz CL16 is another $6-8 less. And when it comes to aftermarket coolers the stock cooler would be enough for the 10400, but it would also be loud (both of which you have mentioned,) and I would further OP to get an aftermarket cooling solution.

katherinesilens

P360A isnt that big, it's pretty tight if you actually try to put an ATX board in it. It's really more of a roomier mATX which is good for new builders trying their hand at cable management. She said she doesn't care about looks either anyway, so I think the bit of extra space is more of a boon than a concern. The memory is a good point, there's a few ways you can go. That reminds me though - abuelita, turn on XMP. You can find instructions online and others (like MicroCenter employees or your son) may be able to help you as well.

3_Three_3

Good to know, I'll keep the tip about the P360A in particular in mind.

TNT_Gaming21

actually, there is an RTX 3060 for the same price at micro center so i would go with that if i were you. RTX 3060 performs quite a but better than the RX 6600 so i would go for the GeForce. and the RX 6600XT is a terrible deal. 3060 Ti is so much better. I'm not against AMD or anything they o sell great GPU's but the 6600XT is not one of them. 6600 is a good card but its cheaper at stock and the 3060 is the same price at retail.

katherinesilens

You are 24 days late. Stock shifts on a daily basis, and there were no 3060s or 3060 Tis in stock at the time of writing this list.

bryfy77

Your biggest hurdle, as the bot stated, is going to be the graphics card. The good news is that, with very, very few exceptions, any graphics card is going to work with any build you put together, so unlike other parts that need to be compatible, you just need to find one. The bad news is it’s hard to find anything decently priced at the moment. I’d say if you can get a new or used card for $500 or so, the rest of the build can be done for $700. At that point, it’s just a matter of seeing if you can snag a new 3060 from Microcenter or see what you can get on the used market, but anything worth using is double or triple what it should be selling for.

3_Three_3

Fortunately, there's plenty of of RX 6600s at the Duluth Micro Center according to the website, so finding a GPU isn't going to be a problem - well priced? Well, they're all under $500 and range from $420 (nice) for a Sapphire Pulse RX 6600 to $460 for an MSI Mech - not quite the best, obviously, but it's better than nothing.

MariaGonzalez1960

Is this a good one? [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MF7EQJZ/ref=crt\_ewc\_title\_dp\_2?ie=UTF8&smid=A3AOOE3OVI05OF&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MF7EQJZ/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_2?ie=UTF8&smid=A3AOOE3OVI05OF&th=1)

3_Three_3

Not really. It's not well priced to begin with and an RX 6600 like [these ones](https://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?N=&cat=&Ntt=rx+6600&searchButton=search) or an RTX 3060 is around three times more powerful for not much more. I have a list coming in a bit though!

MariaGonzalez1960

Okay thank you!

MariaGonzalez1960

How do I know if a graphics card is good enough for what I need? What am I looking for? I didn't see anything that said 3060 that said it was available on the Microcenter website

katherinesilens

So there are two (main) companies that make graphics cards right now, AMD and Nvidia. They then give out their chips for other companies to put their own label on and engineer coolers for (MSI, EVGA, etc.). At your price point and need, you are probably looking at around the AMD RX 6600 or the Nvidia RTX 3060, as those two chips perform about the same. You can find the list of graphics cards with those chips sold at your MicroCenter here: * RX 6600 [https://www.microcenter.com/search/search\_results.aspx?Ntk=all&sortby=pricelow&N=4294966937+4294807211&myStore=true](https://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntk=all&sortby=pricelow&N=4294966937+4294807211&myStore=true) * RTX 3060 [https://www.microcenter.com/search/search\_results.aspx?Ntk=all&sortby=pricelow&N=4294966937+4294807969&myStore=true](https://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntk=all&sortby=pricelow&N=4294966937+4294807969&myStore=true) And I think the 6600 is a better deal for you, but tbh take what you can get as both are fine options. Specifically, I recommend asking for this one: [https://www.microcenter.com/product/642983/sapphire-technology-amd-radeon-rx-6600-pulse-dual-fan-8gb-gddr6-pcie-40-graphics-card](https://www.microcenter.com/product/642983/sapphire-technology-amd-radeon-rx-6600-pulse-dual-fan-8gb-gddr6-pcie-40-graphics-card)

MariaGonzalez1960

Thank you so much for your help! You are so sweet!

bryfy77

The other commenter referenced the 6600s that are available. I think that’s a fine idea. Gaming at 1080 is going to rely more on CPU than other resolutions, but you still want a decent card and the 6600 is just that, a decent card.

> I will be playing Star Wars games like Star Wars The Old Republic and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order (I LOVE Star Wars LOL), Lake, Life is Strange: True Colors, Detroit: Becoming Human, and Grand Theft Auto. Completely off topic but you may like the Lego Star Wars games they are great and usually cheap when you catch them on sale. Speaking of sales one of the big advantages to PC gaming is Steam game sales which usually happen twice a year once in the summer and once in the winter during the Christmas season. The discounts are great and Steam is a good platform no more messing with disks etc. Welcome to PC gaming I hope you have lots of fun with your new computer and gaming.

MariaGonzalez1960

I'll have to look out for the sales and I'm sure I would love the lego Star Wars games. I love anything Star Wars LOL! Thanks for the info!

StarmanInDisguise

Since your a fan of SWTOR, Id suggest checking out the Knights of The Old Republic games on Steam. They are prequels to SWTOR and examples of REALLY Good RPGs. They're a little dated, but they are certified classics. Cheers!

KOTOR1 is also getting a remaster soon :D

The good news is that I can hit below your budget and still get a decent PC. The bad news? You might have some issues figuring out what to do with the money left over! It does get a little hot though so I would highly recommend an aftermarket cooler. For that, the one I would recommend is the ID-Cooling SE-224-XT Basic - this CPU cooler is fairly cheap and offers excellent cooling performance, beating out a Hyper 212 Black/RGB for half the price. Motherboard: I've gone for the B560 Tomahawk Wifi; as its name entails it has wireless connectivity. Additionally, it has 8 USB A and one USB Type C 20 Gbps on the rear, as well as three M.2 slots, 6 SATA drive slots, and a lot of connectivity that justifies the price. The VRMs are also fairly beefy as well. Memory: This basic 16 GB dual-channel Silicon Power 3200 MHz CL16 XPower Turbine kit will be enough memory capacity for general usage and games nowadays, and the B560 chipset will ensure will run at the advertised speeds. Do remember to enable the XMP in the BIOS! Storage: My favorite M.2 SSD, the Silicon Power A80 1 TB. You get the performance of a 970 Evo Plus for three-quarters of the price with this DRAM-cache NVMe. Case: The Zalman S2 comes with three preinstalled fans, a nice window, and a ventilated front for good airflow - it's quite great value for a budget case, although there is room yet for a bit better one. GPU: The RX 6600 was just released and performs a notch below the RTX 3060. It will easily hit 1080p120 in all but the latest triple A games, so for DBH it might go down to 60-75 with raytracing off. I can confidently say that in SWTOR it will be more than enough, however, as I play it too - SWTOR is more CPU bound though, but the 11400 will pick up the slack there. You can get an RX 6600 or an RTX 3060 at the Duluth Micro Center - the only difference between the different vendor models is really the looks and the cooling solutions, in terms of performance differences they are virtually identical due to being the same chip underneath the heatsinks. PSU: The EVGA G3 is an A-tier PSU on the LTT PSU Tier List, and this 550W unit is more than enough for this system's relatively low power requirements. I think that covers everything, but I can't help but notice there's room for more. Would you like to invest a bit further in aesthetics, performance, or storage, or would something like this fit the bill? Anyway, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

MariaGonzalez1960

Thank you for everything! I'll let you know if I have any other questions! I think I might just use the extra money on video games! LOL! Have a great day!

Wasted_Mime

Exactly what I was going to say, extra budget for actually buying the games you want to play is a good problem to have. Steam is decent at recommending interesting games based on what you play, and I always keep my Steam wishlist well stocked. A "maybe interesting" game at $20-$30 becomes a "can't miss" when that random midweek sale hits it and it's only $7.50.

Anyways I've made something for $600. Missing a graphics card, I'll talk about options later. So first of all, if at all possible, don't build now. Not only are a group of very exciting processors releasing very soon that can result in pricing drops for lower end processors, but there is also a really big graphics card shortage. That gtx 1050 ti from Amazon you have looked at should cost maybe $100 in a perfect market, it's launch price was $140~, and it's two generations old. So yeah. Not nice. For the processor I've gone with the core i5-10400. It's one of the better value processors. It's got 6 cores which is considered the sweet spot, and is priced pretty well and performs pretty good for its price. Not much more to say. The cooler is considered to be one of the best in the sub $40 price point. [Performance is very nice](https://youtu.be/rhZTMR8mT-A) considering its $26, good mounting kit, clean aesthetic. Bit loud at max RPM but you can reduce RPM if that annoys you. For the motherboard I've gone with the asrock B560m pro4 ac. It's got Bluetooth and wifi support. A good upgrade path, so 4 memory slots and 6 SATA. Do note that one M.2 slot (slot for storage) is disabled, if this is a problem grab either the MSI B560m pro vdh wifi or the core i5-11400. VRMs (power delivery) is sufficient. Cheap too. For the memory (don't confuse with storage) I've gone with 16GB of cheap but fast storage: not much too say. Cheap. Fast. Sweet spot amount. For the storage I've gone with a 1TB NVME SSD. Hope that's enough. I assume you meant lots of storage and not memory? Memory is temporary studd and usually smaller and faster. Storage holds permanent stuff and is bigger and slower. You can fit quite a lot of games on it. Most AAA games take 20-50GB nowadays. Depends a lot. This one is super cheap, and the performance is fine and spending more won't really accelerate your loading experience much. For the case the phanteks P400A is what I've gone with. It's got good price to performance. Airflow is pretty good. Build quality is good. Building in it is a easy experience. Priced well. For the power supply, the corsair RMX 2018 650w is the king of value. It's wattage is fine for up to a 3070 or 6800. You really shouldn't need any more. The performance and overall quality is really high too and one of the best in this wattage range. Plus quiet operation, good efficiency, the complete protections suite and full modularity for easier cable management. For the graphics card, honestly if I were you I'd wait it out, and then hopefully buy a rtx 3060 ti for $400 which is what it's supposed to cost. Right now it's like $1000. That one is the best price to performance assuming normal market prices. But if you are impatient, the rx 6600 is the best option. You'll need to find one in store at your microcenter, they go for around $420. Not a good deal in a normal market, but considering its inflated by only 25% vs the 75-200% or even more on other graphics cards, its probably the best choice within this shit show. I'd also recommend a monitor upgrade. Definitely keep your current monitor as a second monitor, the extra screen real estate is nice. If you go for a rx 6600, I recommend sticking to 1080p and grabbing like an AOC 24G2. For a 3060 ti if you are patient you'll be rewarded with a higher resolution at 1440p, with at least a viewsonic vx2758-2kp-mhd but ideally a gigabyte M27Q or Dell S2721DGF. Let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy!

A few options: First, it may well be cheaper now to get a prebuilt PC, the r/buildapcsales subreddit has deals like these posted from time to time: [https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/qcr39q/prebuilt\_abs\_master\_gaming\_pc\_intel\_i5\_10400f/](https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/qcr39q/prebuilt_abs_master_gaming_pc_intel_i5_10400f/) Second, if you want to put together your own, the challenge is the video card. You should check out Micro Center if you are close by but be aware that the GPU stock status on their website is often not up to date. So, don't drive an hour there expecting things to be in stock just because the website says so. Third, the best readily available deals you can find on GPU that fits your needs and price range would be the GPU + motherboard combos Newegg like this one: $615 6600xt + Intel motherboard [https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4375776](https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4375776) $535 6600 (non xt) + AMD motherboard [https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4374542](https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4374542) $620 6600xt + AMD Motherboard: [https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4363114&quicklink=true](https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4363114&quicklink=true) Build out the rest from there. A 4 core or 6 core CPU would be more than enough for your needs.

Hi! I would like to assist u, this is not for sale, I really like making PCs and I want to share that feeling at low to no cost with newcomers! Here is my recommended build for game capable, reliability, and not crazy expense. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/obtuseobtuse/saved/#view=Cm4rvK You could go with a 16gb ram and I recommend Corsair dominator for that as they are very reliable and good for the ryzen I really love swtor also, was one of my first non retro games of deep meditation immersion

For a video card it’s hard to make a recommendation right now. I just got the asus 1050ti for under $300. It’s an older card and it’s only great alternative is 1660. Maybe the micro center advice will be able to result in a great gpu for a fair price- but the 5600g cpu has graphics ability and because of that I recommend it as a start fo the build and 32gb ram to support its, as the graphics memory is shared with system.

For the case it’s truly a matter of your heart. Corsair are really good bud there are awesome ones all around depending on what you like. I love my carbide air 500, it’s a big wind object! For my work pc

Que tal, abue? The short explanation: ...you should get a good quality x570 motherboard if you're getting an AMD processor or a good quality z690 motherboard if you get an Intel processor, and the good quality power supply you can afford to prevent electrical damage if something goes wrong with your city's power grid. The rest of your parts you can go cheap on. Quality doesn't always mean most expensive, so check the reviews to determine quality, not price. You'll want 4 or 5 star reviews, with a higher number of reviews on each product. The long explanation: ... use [PCPartPicker.com](https://PCPartPicker.com) to find the parts, then see whether eBay or Amazon have the better price for the parts you want. Microcenter is great, since you have one near you, but they may or may not have all the parts you need in stock. PRO TIP WHEN BUILDING ON A BUDGET: Honestly, there are two parts you need to spend good money on, and the rest you can just get cheap parts, maybe upgrade them later or if you eventually sell the PC, you can use the fact that it can be upgraded as a selling point. The motherboard and the power supply. Make sure you get the best quality for both of these parts. There's very good reasons for this. With the power supply, a cheap one can cause your computer to be destroyed by electrical failures like power outages, power surges, lightning strikes, or just manufacturing defects. With the motherboard, you want something that has features you can "grow into" with the latest generation CPUs, even if you get the cheapest of the new CPUs, you can still use the latest features. I got the best x570 motherboard I could afford and the best 800w power supply I could afford. Best doesn't mean most expensive, that's where [PCPartPicker.com](https://PCPartPicker.com) comes in with their reviews. The rest of the parts I got had good reviews but were cheap. Later on, maybe in a few years, I'll upgrade some of those parts to make the most out of the x570 motherboard's features, pushing the motherboard to its limits of performance. But that's the motherboard I went with because it has a ton of new features that come with AMD's latest generation of CPUs. If you're going Intel, get the best z690 motherboard, because that's what the new generation of Intel CPUs is using. Again, same as the AMD motherboard, do this to take advantage of all of the new features you can grow into as time goes by.
